Had a spare hour, thanks to the football, so I got the hotplate out and a piece of A2 card, with this result!

Mystery and Mayhem

It's a bit on the dark side due to the camera angle, but at least I avoided the glare!

Powerful stuff, Maria :art: It actually provokes quite a strong reaction but I can't put my finger on the result :D Could just be tiredness at the mo' though ;)

Oh I like this Maria, it certainly is a very powerful painting looks full of energy. :thumbup; :art:

I have really enjoyed looking at the paintings you have done on the hotplate, you seem to be having such fun with it and keep on coming up with incredible work.
I keep giving out big hints to hubby for one but he keeps ignoring them :lol: Think I will have to twist his arm :D either that or start saving myself :rolleyes: :wave:

Thanks Steve and Willow. I had fun creating this one!

:lol: Willow...it took me 8 or 9 months to convince 'himself' that I needed one! I just started a hot-plate fund then told everyone that I wanted money for my birthday this year. Soon had enough saved, so I'd start saving now and you'll have one before you know it!

That's brilliant M - can't imagine doing anything so big on the hotplate - love the ribbon effects and like Steve says - it does conjure up all sorts of emotions.

A bit spooky, a bit scary - but joyful.....how strange :thumbup;

love x :wave:

I'm sure you could learn a lot from a workshop Catherine, but I think the only real way is to just take a deep breath and experiment yourself and try using anything that will make a mark in the wax and see what you get.

As it happens, I didn't use anything other than the wax as crayons on this piece....and a bit of imagination too!

It's amazing how, on encaustic card, on the hotplate, other colours move completely as you crayon through with a new colour; so pure new colour is left in the trail of the moving piece of solid wax.

Yes...I thought that too when I first started. I love this method of waxing for that reason. The effects are so different to when using the iron.

I'm going to do some more this evening, so it will be interesting to see what comes from it!
