Quite pleased with this effect. I aspire to 'doing' my own art work one day, but this will do in the meantime. Made it into a card for my SIL. ![]() Salx |

Oh that is so sweet! I love seahorses and I think you just captured that 'underwater' feeling here! As you continue to progess you will soon gain more confidence and will want to see if you can achive the same kind off effect with the stylus. Just keep it simple to start with, practice drawing the same shapes that the stamps give you on a small piece of card, then use the same techinique on a bigger picture. Honest, once you try it just gets easier each time! For now though, this is excellent! You just keep getting better and better! Maria xx |

Hi Sal I love your family of Seahorses, I agree with Maria that you have captured them beautifully. I am new at EA aswell, and have just started venturing into drawing with the stylus, and I was amazed at what I could do, even though I am rubbish at drawing! Keep at it and as everyone is telling me (it will get easier). I also, had a go at tracing silhouettes onto my card with permanent marker pen for the same effect as the stamps. There are some great silhouettes to be drawn! Keep it up Sallyx |

Not to mention a lot cheaper than buying loads of stamps! The other thing you could try is clip-art. All you need to do is print some images out on your card before you wax. Let it dry overnight then put a layer of clear wax over the image before you put in the picture. If you aren't all that good at drawing, but want more than just a black image, it's a really effective way of getting some finer characters into your painting. I did a load of underwater cards like this when I first began waxing and put in various clip-art fish, waxed round them, and ended up with some very effective pictures. Maria x |

A wonderful result, Sal Really works well
For some variety with this kind of image, you could also use the double/triple colour ink pads or painting on different colour inks I've just posted a link, too, to some great silhouette stencils that would work well printed onto card before waxing Steve

One of my fave subjects as well, Sal. I'm sure you'll soon be drawing free-hand, the way you are going! Start off by practicing copying photos of horses, then you will get an idea of movement and shapes, then it will be just a short step to drawing them in poses that you want them in, plus with a lovely horn on thier heads! If you have a browse trough my gallery, there are a couple of unicorns in there somewhere. Might get you started! Maria x |

From what I can see i think this is brilliant. I can only see 1 sea horse it is coming up way to big on my screen? But you have got a definate sense of watery scene there. Poppy

Poppy if you go into Sal's EA Gallery you can see Mummy and babies swimming behind Daddy seahorse! Sal have you waxed on blank CD's ? (In your gallery )If so did you need any special preparation? I've loads of CD's and usually only use them on cards for music lovers. This would be another use.

Thank you all for your encouraging comments and advice. This is what I love about this board Joan - I put some clear wax on the CD's first. Tried it without and the colours seemed too dense. In the one called 'Fear' in my Gallery the metallic background really shines through. I also made a 'spindle' on which to spin the disc. |

Hi Sal - what a cute little family......very cool and tranquil too. I've not tried this, but I think others have suggested it - you can go over the stamped design with a stylus and it looks like you've painted it freehand. But M's ideas will deffo help your drawing skills more. Love x
