This took a while and originally started out on the hotplate, then when I'd got the background as I wanted it I added the fairy using the stylus, then the rest kind of just fell into place.

It's A3 by the way.

I can only hope that one day I will be able to produce something like your paintings, you are one of the best that I have seen, I love your work and all the delicate little detals that you manage to get in your picture.

You inspire me :thumbup;

Just a pity you dont live Nottingham way, I would be booking you for a few lessons!!!!

Nottingham doesnt seem to have heard about EA, it doesnt seem to have reached this part of the country!, everyone looks at me with open mouth when I mention EA! Duhhhhhhh

Maria, she certainly is a beauty and this is wonderful. I love the colours you have used and the detail is incredible especially on her wings, even the leaves below look so delicate. Certainly something to be proud of. :thumbup;

My hubby has just looked over my shoulder and he thinks it is incredible too, he said she looks lovely. :thumbup; :wave:

Thank-you everyone. :kb:

Sally I wish I lived nearer too, but have no fear, just keep practicing and you'll soon be doing work on this scale! I'm honoured that you find my work an inspiration!

Hands Ros some arnica cream for the bruising! :lol:

Barry At this stage I have no idea! :P Might put it into the exhibitions at Great Bentley or Mile End though.

Terry Those wings gave me nightmares! :lol: I'm still trying to perfect a way of doing them that makes them lighter than at present.

Steve I got the tone of the background by using the hotplate and crayoning on the wax (combination of grey/ green and Prussian blue) then stippling it with a hogs hair brush to get the texture. After that I worked off the heat with the iron and stylus.

Willow I pulled off a load of ivy from our porch and used that as a guide for the leaves. I love the texture of ivy and the way it slowly transforms it's host.

Think I might do more on this scale in future, this was fiddly, but definitely worth the effort!

Thanks again.
