Tapestry Stamps

I am fairly new to rubber stamping and am canvassing your opinions, please !
I have bought two sets of tapestry stamps, a floral one and dragonflies at dusk.
So far I've made 2 cards using the floral stamps (and to be honest I wasn't all that struck on either of them really - ok but certainly nothing special) and 1 using the dragonflies. I was more pleased with this, in fact I rather liked it, which was satisfying after spending a fair bit of time getting it how I wanted i !
I feel these stamps are rather limiting BUT I am not an ideas person, unfortunately.
Just wondered what you all think of them ?

Sylvia, I'm not familiar with "tapestry" stamps but, can you use them to stamp multiple copies and decoupage them? Or perhaps use them on acetate? Without seeing the exact designs you've got, it's rather difficult to suggest ideas, but they're a couple that spring to mind ;)

:groan I tried to look at your cards but no joy! There are so many things you can do with stamping, must admit I've never heard of Tapestry stamps either.

That's strange - I have a picturetrail and it was shown on here so people could click and access it - but it's disappeared !!! Mind you, I updated it recently and took the 2 tapestry stamps ones off. Oops - forgot - I added the 2 I did today, using the dragonflies.

Poppy has these stamps so she could probably explain them far better than me - they are from America, you buy them in packs of 5 or 6 that all go together - e.g. dragonflies at dusk, these comprise 4 different dragonfly images and another of tiny flowers - they come wrapped in a descriptive leaflet which tells you how to build - for instance - a floral circle, stamp by stamp.

Having done this - they look ok - you are left thinking, what else can I do with these ?

The images are very small and detailed, so decoupage is out, but thanks anyway for the suggestion, Steve - same applies to acetate really, they're too small.

The tapestry stamps have a thread I did ages ago. I know what you mean Sylvia, ( ididn't know it was you Sylvia, welcome here) They are a bit limiting but as I said on the other thread if you stamp in different colours and turn them you can get different effects with them? I turned the wisteria inti Lilac, lavender and Buddleia. I think we have to have a brillaint flash of lightening i our imagination to make the tapestry stamps into something they are not to extend their possibilities. :yip: :snip: :pot:

have you ever thought to stitch into the stamped image? if you prick out the holes you could possibly embroider little knott flowers and add a little detail that way, I have seen the stamps, they are very pretty and I like them very much! :thumbup;

Hallo everyone, and thanks for replying to my query.

Poppy - you said it was a good forum so I had a peep and then joined ! Sorry, should have said - don't know why I assumed you would know it was me - even a different avatar ! "Everyone" seems to be buying these stamps so I am really trying to get a few ideas I can maybe use. That's why I posted the query here as well.

Twinthing - that is certainly a novel idea - stitching - would never have thought of that and will see how I get on with doing it. Thank you.

Jinny - my picturetrail is back (thank you, Steve, for repairing it - I didn't break it, hoest !!) there are just 2 using the dragonflies at dusk set, stamped on parchment, heat embossed, and 3D elements added. In truth, they do look better "in the flesh" as it were. The silver one is actually the result of an accident - after stamping the card, I embossed with what I thought was colourless embossing powder, but in fact I had picked up silver razzle dazzle ! Rather than waste it just because it turned out "different" I put 3 little silver dragonflies on.

Nice to talk to everyone, have a nice day Posted Image

Poppy :yip:

Lots better emoticons on this site Sylvia? We know all about being misunderstood through the lack of effective emoticons from an experience of another site????

Thanks Poppy,

Very kind of you to say so.

As you know - so I think does everyone - I love adding little emoticons, animations etc to my posts (big kid, me) I think they brighten the threads up a lot - and yes, there are some good ones here

Thankyou that's very kind of you. I tried for ages getting the music on, gave up because I couldn't hear it, then found out that you can only hear it if you are using Internet Explorer ! Live and learn.
I tried to find this thread earlier and couldn't (Poppy knows I am a complete and utter computer doughnut) because Steve said he didn't know about tapestry stamps, and in this months Making Cards they are described much better than I could do it - so thought I would post the info here for him to see. Quote: Rubber Stamp Tapestry is a wonderful new range of co-ordinated rubber stamp peg sets. Create pretty floral garlands, borders and backgrounds without having to colour or mask. These stamps are mounted on hard wood dowel and feature placement marks to aid positioning. There are 72 designs available from roses and daisies to leaves and berries. Each set features step by step instructions, colour suggestions and a picture of the finished pattern. To find out more log on to http://www.card-io.co.uk
Hope that will be of interest to others who may not have come across these stamps either.

 I have now, Poppy :r A good magnifying glass (microscope?) and very fine scalpel and it'd be easy :r :r :r

They certainly are beautiful! :thumbup; I think my thinking cap was stolen yesterday, though :r

Thanks, SYlvia, for the extra info' :thumbup; I do try to learn, but it's definitely a steep uphill struggle :r

You seem to have sent Poppy into hysterics at the thought of decoupaging them, Steve ! I think you would need (1) really excellent eyesight and (2) great dexterity - maybe you could take it on board as a challenge though ?!! If you can do it ....
