Hi, feel like I have cheated a bit, but came across these temporary tattoos and have tried to incorporate it. You can probably see I was having a blonde moment and was creating a 'pedestal' for the tattoo to be 'grounded on' on the rhs, totally forgot the image is reversed when you apply it I do like the effect though. I'd also got hold of an early video by Michael Bossom that explained about 'light' which I wanted to use. ![]() Salx |

You've done an excellent job with that, Sal There's no such thing as "cheating" in art unless you make a copy of somebody else's work and either claim it's an original of their's or claim it as your own - this is simply using the tools and creativity available to you
Plenty of folk into encaustic use tattoos, transfers, and clip art - as well as other pieces for collages and the like

I know what you mean about feeling guilty, but even Michael Bossom says that using tattoos or stamps is art and NOT cheating. I think this is your best to date and the light you have achieved is wonderful! Maria x |

Sal that is a beautiful painting, I love everything about it. The light certainly catches your eye and the unicorn stands out just great. I think the other little pedestal on the right balances the whole composition off nicely. Well done

I agree Sal,.. what you've done in effect is improve (thoroughly) upon something and turned it into something of beauty. I particularly like the colour palette you've used, it gives it a really strong, bold look that really compliments the strength of the unicorn. x Col! |

It's really stunning Sal - and the contrast between the soft background and sharper tattoo sets it off a treat..... It's quite interesting incorporating different materials with wax - the possibilities are endless........ Love x

I reckon your painting would sell immediately on Ebay. I see a lot like this go! Why not list it and see, that's if you can bear to part with it! Maria x |

I'm blushing from all your comments. Maria- I have not considered trying to sell anything yet - I'm please you think this one will be marketable! I have sold two of my landscapes today - I made them into cards, and he has commissioned one each year for his wife's birthday - to build a collection of original art. How cool is that!! Can't remember my own families birthdays so will have to be super-organised otherwise I may be responsible for a divorce!! Salx nb the fantasy art tutorial site is brill. |
