hello everybody. Sorry I haven't surfaced before but am not really sure what to do. But the factual backgrounds have drawn me out of my shell! They are so gorgeous and now I'd like to ask for some help pleeasssse! I have downloaded it but don't even know how to unzip the programme. Said I didn't know what to do!
If someone could help me in an idiot proof way I'd be really pleased. Many thanks. Linda

Linda, are you using Windows XP? If you are, you can just double click on the zip file and that will open it :thumbup; Following that, you'll see "Extract all..." at the left side ;) Just click on that and then tell it where you want it unzipped to, so you can find it again :) As soon as that's done, it should open the folder containing the unzipped files. You can then right click on the program and tell it to "Send to" desktop as a shortcut so you've got quick access :)

If you're not using XP (or Vista) you'll need an unzip program. The one I like is 7-zip, which you can download for free from: www.7-zip.org/download.html :thumbup;

Thanks Steve. Yes I am using Windows XP. I did what you said but now it says windows cannot open this file. What have I done wrong (or haven't done at all)?

Linda and Sharon, try downloading by clicking here ;) You should be able to tell the download routine to "Open" the file immediately :) After that, it should be possible to extract all the files normally ;)

Linda, I suspect that the download was corrupted at some point, but I've just downloaded from the address I've pointed to, and extracted the files successfully :thumbup;

Hello Steve. I have been having fun with fractals (after your help) but now I need more help! I can't seem to get the palette to be able to change the colours. Any idea what I might be doing or not doing? Thanks again. Linda

Hi Linda :) Glad you've been having fun :thumbup; If you are opening an existing project, the palette part seems to be dormant :wacko: If however you are starting from scratch, then you can open the palettes that come with Fractal Explorer ;) Butr, you may find that Tierazon is friendlier to use :) That's available from: http://home.houston.rr.com/fergusonsc/Tierazon-v29/ :thumbup;

Steve :)
