this is one of 3 dishes I have made, this one is scots pine, the other one is fern (thats still at collage, I hope to get it back next week) and the third one WAS scots pine also, only that blew up in the kiln :cry:

its about the size of a side plate.

I pushed the plant material into the damp clay, its gets burnt out in the kiln when it has its first fireing, I then glazed with copper oxide for the pine needles and manganese oxide ???? for the cone,

this is a close up of the wonderful texture.

Thanks jinny and sally, its a present for either parents or parents in law...not sure which.

Jinny, the only thing that takes time and a steady hand is painting the galze on, its very watery, its wierd, but you dab the brush tip at the stem end of the needles, and the glaze runs down the needles and covers them in, when you use this tecnique to glaze leaves with vains, the fluid runs down the vain marks just like the sap would have done.
