I made this oval dish. I used a plaster mould, stoneware clay, pressed the rolled clay into the mould with a sponge to get a textured finish, pressed 2 feathers into the clay, it was fired and then I added the copper oxide in the same way mags used on her spruce......because the feathers are burned out in the kiln you get a really detailed imprint. It was glazed with clear and fired again.
its a gift for my brother in law and his partner.

thanks all! its a great techinque isnt it! max effect, minimum effort! :thumbup;

I have a large bowl at college that ive pressed cloth and lace into, I added some cobolt blue and its being fired.....I wont get it untill we go back in Jan, the class has finished now for Christmas. booo hooo! :cry:

well, you could try using lace or something like that! I am looking forward to seeing if the blue comes out ........not sure it will mind you! :ph43r:
