some one advertised a bag of yarn so I went off to pick it up today, wow! there is stuff in there Ive never used! skeins of hand dyed cotton tape, skeins of pure wool, just asking to be made into something and then felted! some rather scrummy metalic crochet thread in silver, gold and a minty green and a posh looking lot of cotton 4ply in lovely summery colours, there are enough of some colours to make a summer top with, maybe even enough to make some for the girls! all in all a big bag of loverly stuff! not bad for nothing! my growing stash of yarn is about to over take the living room! :r i love freecycle! :r :thumbup;

Thats fantastic Catherine :thumbup; I love freecycle :thumbup;

Yesterday me & Lou were lucky enough to be offered an Empisal Knitmaster knitting machine it is more or less brand new, with a rib carriage, tons of patterns and yarn and all the punch cards etc for the fancy motifs, even the table to stand it on :thumbup; Lou is busy at hers now setting it all up and trying to work out how to get it going :blink:

Cant wait to see your creations with your new yarn, they sound interesting and I am sure that you will malke great use of it all :thumbup;

good grief sally! how easy is it to set up? my mum had one in the 1970's and as far as I can remember, if someone even breathed near it it would drop stitches! what a great load of gear you got! has your sister got room for it? Im dying to see pics of the thing set up! you will have to post a tut on using it! :thumbup;

That's great, Sally :thumbup; We've got a couple of very old Brother knitting machines ;) I did use one of them a few times but Jenny was never convinced and it was always going wrong :rolleyes:

It looks brilliant Steve and more or less brand new!

Its the same as this one

but we also got the ribber attachment and loads of books, punch cards, yarn and tons of extras, even a punching machine to make your own cards, (also thinking this will be good for patterns on cardmaking) :thumbup; :groan

We were very very lucky to get it, and a lovely woman, when we have it working we are going to make her something and send it through the post as a Thank You ;)

Sally :knit: (Steve we may need a smiley on a knitting machine) :r :r

You're so lucky Catherine! I haven't seen the silver cotton thread for ages! That alone would have been worth it. I have to go check our local freecycle.

Sallly, my sister and I once tried to put together a knitting machine, we were having a hard time so we took it all apart to see how it worked, it's still in pieces in a box in my Mom's attic. Every time my mom sees it's she starts with her "what possessed you" lecture and Yve and I get the giggles. We were like 10 or 11 at the time I think :r

:r :r :r :r :r :r Virginia I remember my Mum having one years ago and it looked so complicated :blink:

Lou has managed to get it working and even brought a sample up tonight, there are a few problems but if she has done that in less than 48 hours I know she will get it going! We are going to have right arms like Popeye :lol:

I must remember freecycle if I get round to clearing the loft!

:r I've got a knitting machine up the loft too! Plus lots of cones of wool, as the children got older they wanted sweatshirts not knitted jumpers and I stopped using it. :groan I rememeber I dreaded having to pick up stitches! :r But You could rattle off a jumper in no time. Have fun.
