Yep, I saw that prog and I was so pleased when they finally got some of the seeds to grow. It's amazing after all that time what a bit of TLC can do .Aparently they keep loads of seeds at Kew, especially from endangered species, but obviously they would be kept in temperature controlled conditions unlike the ones on the TV prog. That is so interesting! They sent an expert form Kew Gardens to Niagar Falls because there was a very old very are tree (I can't think of what it was though) and one of the hotel owners paid a hood to cut it because he said it was blocking his hotel's view. Fortunately a policeman caught the guy but not before he had done some serious damage. The hotel owner got in a great deal of trouble. The expert from Kew managed to help save it though and took some of the seeds.

Didn't see the prog, but I do know that some seeds survive for phenomenal time spans The best known has to be the Field Poppy, but there are others that are even more astonishing in their survival ability

Poppy.... This was on tv in January and i missed it ... then there was a programme about it on the other evening and I only caught a but of it , it was about the seed programme at Leonardsleigh Park in West Sussex ... they have all these special labs there where the scientists,(or whatever they are), work on old and precious seeds..... I went there with a friend and you can watch them working, its very interesting what they do, also a beautiful park to walk around and is a part of Kew Gardens... but i couldnt tell you what those 200 year old seeds were but I bet Steve would know??
