While cutting back shrubs and old stems in my garden yesterday afternoon, I noticed a small Genetian type flower. It is about 2" tall and has a whitsh tinged blue trumpet like flower and reminds me of a Genetian. So any of you garden experts know what it could be? I know I didn't plant it, so the birds must have dropped the seeds. They are quite pretty and a bonus. They look well with the blue/lilac drumstick Primroses about to come out. I discovered I have 1 Snowdrop!!! Don't know where the others have gone? The Bluebells have gone stupid and have multiplied beautifully this year. You'll be pleased to know that myankle has finally felt a lot better and I should be able to continue where I left off in my garden this year. It doesn't look like the college will want me again this year because of the hike in prices/changed days etc, so i am writing it off and gardening instead! Poppy Hoping that other door everyone is talking about, will open Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon! |

I thought there was going to be a photo! I'm not good at guessing from the descroption I'm afraid. Glad to hear your ankle is better, that' s been a long time hasn't it. So I suppose I shouldn't complain that my leg and foot is still causing pain from December!

Sorry i forgot to do photo. Definately not a wood violet Catherine, I have clumps of those in there also. The leaves are ? It's raining cats and dogs and so I am not getting wet. So will update this tomorrow. Thanks for interest so far. The trumpet is slightly elongated , like a Genitian flower. Poppy |

Jo I was thinking of you and your leg/foot troubles just this morning? How is it now? O the mend? I found some silly poystyrene like cloggs in NZ called Frogs! They are shaped to the foot and are like walking on air! I would definately reccommend anyone with foot problems using them. They are wonderful and have done my ankle /foot wonders. I don't have to wear any orthotics in my shoes now? They have the real thing in coloured rubber over here called Crock's at about £40 -50, mine are childrens sized and cost a fraction of that. I bought 2 pairs! My one concern when I went to NZ was HOW was I going to cope trekking about? I need not have worried as everyone wears the Crocks or Froggs, so i didn't fel out of place, even nurses wear white ones in hospitals.! AND they are very lightweigh to wear.:thumbup; Poppy

Just googled and found a flower almost like it, I now think it is a wild species of Genitan Violet. Hopefully a picture will come up here. |

Not familiar with that, Poppy
The wood violet Catherine mentions does come in purple, blue or white forms
There's also the ground ivy
It's almost impossible to go by seasons now, with flowers appearing at times far earlier than you'd expect There's also the possibility of it being a garden plant that has been carried
Your best bet would be to send a flower in to your local BBC Radio station's gardening experts

I am certain hat this is the plant Steve, I checked it against the picture and it is identical to it, except mine has a faint blish tinge at the ends of the trumpet-like flower. I am well pleased with it anyway. Poppy

Yes I think so too Jen, thanks for taking the troubel to look for me also. How did you do with the Flower subject matter? I love painting Iris's wet into wet, then doing all the fine viening with a 10/0 paintbrush. Poppy
