Hi everyone ![]() I was in my craft room last night and was having a bit of a tidy up, Lou found it really amusing that I keep all my waxes in colour order in a straight line across the whole of my table I did notice when I was watching the 'Exploring Ideas' DVD that most of the waxers just throw all their blocks into a big tub
What do you lot do with your waxes? are they neat & tidy or mixed up, surely I am not the only one that keeps them in a regimented order

My waxes and small tools are all thrown in one box after use. During use, they just get put down anyoldhow to the left of where I'm working. |

My wax's are in a pencil tins, according to what they are, pearlised or vibrants, or the usual ones. When I am working i place them onto a folded kitchen towel in front of me and use from there, but the sets they are all in 2 straight lines so I can just pick up what I want and not let the flow of creativity slow down while i look for a particular colour! I didn't know I was THAT tidy? When i teach E/A I use this method too, so there will be loads of people all doing the Poppy thing with their equipment now? My tips for my Stylus are in a small plastic lidded box, also to hand, as is a screw driver to change them with, learnt my lesson too many times, and now realise I DO NOT have aspestos hands and fingers when it comes to changing the tips!!! My bits of used tissue are however, thrown all over the side until I tidy up after wards. Poppy

Sally... my work table is only 30" square so I have to be tidy... my waxes are all in an original wax box ... not really in any order ..... and are on my desk permanently..... my electrical tools are laying on the floor beside my table !!! My little tools are on top of the waxes but i have thought about a little box for them !! However.... I do have a draw unit for my craft stuff and my EA has its own draw, but if I am planning on working the electricals get left on the floor by the extension lead... So you see Sally... I am sort of organised!!!

I used to chuck everything into one tin, but it got too fiddly sorting everything out whenever I wanted to wax, so I got a craft box fron Webb Ivory with the little compartments for my waxes, and a larger craft box, with a lift out tray for the surplus waxes and all the stylus nibs etc. Then I have a drawer that I keep my tools in, plus the various size cards etc. The rest of my study is in total chaos though (actually....that goes for the rest of my house, come to think of it! )Maria x |

I've got one of those plastic tool boxes, which is handy for transporting everything The lift-out tray is where all my waxes and stylus tips live
At first, I kept the waxes in order but that kind of fell apart I really should be more ordered, as I forget what the colours are Makes replacement difficult
I actually work on a board on my lap, in my armchair, so space is very limited

![]() This is what I keep my encaustic stuff in........It's great as all the other stuff fits in lovely underneath..........but when I work I tend to take up the whole kitchen table but I have the bin next to me, so my space don't get cluttered with tissue everywhere .............I have to admit that I am quiet untidy when it comes to art/craft but it allows me to always be having a sort out of my stuff

Seems we have a mix of tidy and messy then
I work in our spare bedroom and I work on a large old office desk - covered in newspaper, with my hotplate in front of me, ( I then put my newspaper/old phone book on top of that to wax), I have my iron stylus and hot blower to my right and my card to my left, then pots of brushes, sponges, tips etc, CD Player, desk lamp and clock behind my neat lines of waxes, I am very tidy and dont like anyone touching anything on that table I have a window to my right with tie backs and my carrier of rubbish is hanging on the tie back Will take a photo tomorrow, batteries have gone on my camera <_< Sally ![]() |

Well seeing as everyone else is "confessing" At the end of my table I have two large see thru boxes stashed with card making stuff-and then those plasctic (normally used for toy boxes) boxes stashed with paper and card then I have a vanity case filled to the brim with tubes of watercolours and acrylics- a big flat wooden box underneath my bed (recently) sorted out that had old encaustic and watercolours pics-threw loads away
and in my stereo cabinet in frontroom I have a box which has little plastic drawers in them filled with -omg ummmm brads, die cuts, paper clips and the like, also have a drawer in cupboard under the stairs(which is my pc room) filled with inks, embossing stuff and glitters and glues and tape and two large tubs with pens pencils----WOW I seem to have taken over the house really-------well it me who cleans it so way hay Needless to say my craft art stuff will be the VERY last things to be packed

Maria .... Do you have a builder friend???? Or can you find someone who does???? Start from there ... seee if you can get a cheap price... then gently work on him but little but often repeats of how much it would add to the value of your house .... if that dont work , when he admires you as an artist just keep telling him you cant do it anymore as you need more space!!! Good luck for today Maria..... Let me know when you win!!!??? Jenx |

The trouble with my husband is....it HAS to be his idea!
And unfortunately, we don't know any builders and don't really have the finances to do it anyway!
But it's a great dream! Thanks for the good wishes for today by the way! There are a couple of photos of the exhibition on the 'Courses and Events' section, plus a link to the online version, so you can see what's on display. I'll keep working on the old man though! Maria x |
