Catherine .... I went out to my back garden yesterday as the weather was so nice ... the grass is long , cant bekieve it has grown so much..... i planted some wild primroses that i was gived in the middle of the lawn so we now have some flowers to look at!! I planted 2 hostas in the shadiest spot .. think they will like it there as they dont like too much of the hotes sun, prefer more shade.... in some of my new ,(freecycled), pots i have planted Gladiois,(yellow, Apricot and red)..... freesias, 2 different types of Dahlias , curly and ordinary, liatris and 2 rows of red onions , had to throw loads away though as they went soft and mouldy , been lurking in a kitchen cupboard!! My most exciting news though is ... da da... i have ordered my new green house and cant wait to get going in the garden ..... i have big plans for the garden , not much cash for it at the moment though! we are going to make a patio and put screening around it and a gate across the garden path to keep dogs off garden eventually!! its so nice to have plans isnt it???!!!! Dont overdo it you my wear out your painting arm!! Make sure you enjoy it , when you stop enjoying it stop doing it ... thats my motto Cant walk Jet today so i will do some seed planting also , most in pots ... i have some glass panels coming soon too ,(freebies), to make cold frames , which are useful, Jenx |

Good luck in the garden Catherine I was out in mine yesterday, and just had a little potter around, but there is sooo much to do I dont know where to start
I wanted to get my seeds going this weekend but I really do need a small plastic pop up greenhouse really as I have so many seeds they arnt all going to fit on my bedroom windowsill
Off to Lidl tomorrow to see if they have any left for £9.99 (probably not though). I am so looking forward to summer to spend time in the garden playing with Jack and my doggies (the dogs have got a paddling pool to cool down in) and I want to get them a bacon bubbles machine to keep them happy in the summertime Looking forward to seeing everyone fabulous blooms come summer Sallyx |

its awfull! I stood on the lawn and sunk in! its so boggy I cant cut the grass, I did however scatter some seeds around, had a looky see to what is comming up, fingers crossed the plants dammaged in the bad winds early on in the winter seem to be recovering! remember my honey suckle was all dried and leggy, so I cut it down in the summer? well its really going great guns so Im hopeing for some really lovely perfume flowers from that this year!

Sounds lovely CAtherine ... Honeysuckle scent is gorge! Have you airated your lawn with the fork??? It would make iot less boggy ... been doing mine today ... we have stony clay soil , its disgustingly claggy!! I planted about 8 different lots of seeds and just finished ... i worked until i ran out of compost!!! Lidls have little bags of it realy cheap and not so heavy to carry... also i got some compost that is dried .. so light to carry from woolies ... you mix it with a litre of water and wait a few minutes voila compost all ready to use ! You should see our show of violets
And a primrose (a real one) and a couple of hyacinths
The plum tree will hopefully be in flower soon, too
The worst beasties we have are slugs and snails ![]() I used to work for Fisons Research We used just about every kind of compoist you could get
Two we liked were dehydrated and compressed block You can also get ordinary peat in the same form
The best we've used lately is "coir", which is coconut fibre compost/peat substitute
It's excellent stuff and doesn't harm the environment like peat - which has to be dug out of peat bogs that take thousands of years to form

hi sis, I spent all day out in mine yesterday, mainly digging the veggie patch. I have beans and peas that are ready to go out, but they can't yet, just in case we get a frost. My garlic has just pushed up some shoots and onion sets are sprouting I have trays of lettice plugs and courgettes, I potted on some tom seedlings and my cellery has popped up too!!!! no sign of any potatoes yet, I sowed some carrots and sprouts yesterday. ooohhhhh you should see the state of my poor knarly old hands!!!!! magz |
