Hoiw awful Jen, and such a shame, I can sympathise as we are in the same boat, we have had to block our fence up with pieces of wood for now, so the dogs are safe <_<

Its so sad when you try to keep everything nice and maintained and then there are the others that just walk past it without a blink, is it cos they are young? I have always tried to keep a nice garden and have always encouraged Leanne to do so too :thumbup;

The girl the other side of us, had her garden penned off with chicken wire for the kids to play in and then just filled it with toys and has left it to rot, the grass is so high you cant see some of the toys now and there is a bird table that has fallen over (about 7 months ago) and she walks past it every day and never thinks to pick it up :blink:

Sorry moan over :r

Sally :D

Jen i would plant a fast growing hedge. Something like golden leylandii. I did this when we came here, we had a corner plot with 3 gardens, one with 100 roses in the side garden , a large bowling green lawn and a back grden with diamond wire fencing. We planted 65 leylandii trees right away from the side to the drive way, we left the front so we could view the village green. The back was left to the neighbour to put a wooden fence up.
They grew beautifully, stopping much of the wind and keeping the teenagers from sitting on the low wall ( as they are apt to do) within weeks.. :thumbup; It has been the best thing we did and has grown into a realy lovely backdrop for all my flowers, I planted Grape Ivy and Bluebells under them, the roses are long gone, as is the bowling green lawn, i prefer grass to look like grass? :thumbup;
people are frightened of Leylandii, but if you keep it well trimmed it is easy to manage. The golden is less vigarous, (we have mixed). We have loads of Blackbirds and other birds nesting in the hedge( roughly 6ft tall) and the sound of all the lovely baby birds tweeting for their food is breathtaking.
When we came here the garden was so sterile, no birds, squirrels or anything. Within a year, or less we had all kinds of birds and squirrels coming and it made all the difference, even the neighbours commented about how lovely the wildlife is now.
Plant a hedge now and keep it well watered through it's fist summer.

I would be sorely tempted to dump all that broken fence in their garden ;) We had a similar problem, after a fencing company botched replacing one fence :groan The concrete posts were not set true so the panels didn't fit and eventually broke in the first strong winds (they act like whirlwinds at the back of ours because of the buildings) :angry: Then new folk moved in and had it all fixed properly :thumbup; :yip: What's more, they even paid to put on a new tall back gate for us :)

Steve.... I have put most of the wood on his side but he has an electric cable attached to it which i think is something to do with his pond... havent seen him for 3 weeks or more and apparently he has another house so may have been there.. he did say he may be moving , i just hope he sorts it before he goes!!
