My son tells me now is the time to buy from America, as it is such a great exchange rate. I know people do buy rubber stamps from there as they have a great selection, but I think there is a limit before paying tax. Does anyone know good sites and what are the regulations?

Jo, the following applies:
Quote:

If you purchase goods through the Internet you should be aware that Customs duty and VAT will be payable, as follows:

    * Customs duty - if the amount of duty is £7 and over and
    * Import VAT - if the value of the goods is £18 and over.

There's more information available here which is part of the official site :thumbup;

I quite agree, now is an excellent time to buy, especially as you can get more before the duty and VAT kick in :D

Hi Jo,

As you have been asking for stamps from the USA you might want to look at the stamps from I brake for stamps. I am currently negotiating importing these stamps to the UK. I particularly like the humerous ones but I am also bringing in the oriental. If you pm me I can give you more details, costs etc.

Have a look at their site:

http://www.ibrakeforstamps.com

I am only bringing in the unmounted stamps though.

Yvonne, they are wonderful stamps. Steve was drooling over the bonsai tree one. I was just plain drooling. There are so many unusual ones on there.

Hi Everyone,

I'm glad that you like them as much as I do. They will be with me in the next few weeks and I will price them up depending on how much import duty I get charged.

I will also have a stand at the Art Stamps fair in Newbury Race course in July where I will launch the stamps in the Uk.

My own web site is
www.craftfairy.co.uk

Can you let ma know if you want anything in particular and if it is not on the list already ordered I will add it.

A difficult one on two counts, Yvonne ;) First, not knowing how much they'll cos ;), Secondly, probably easier for Jenny to say which ones she doesn't want :r :r Jenny's right though, I love that bonsai tree :D

Oh my goodness. I've been away for a few days and missed the replies. Well the first shipment is ready to be sent so I am really excited about them coming. I will be showcasing them in the Art Stamps Fair in Newbury on the 7th and 8th of July.

I've only ordered the unmounted stamps as I don't have the storage facilities to keep the wood mounted stamps. I've mainly ordered the humerous seniors as I think that they are really good and that they are so different.

I couldn't find the bonsai on the unmounted stamps but I did order some of the Asian stamps. I'll let you know when they arrive.

Woops. I did order the sheet with the bonsai. It is one of the first to be sent. I'll let everone know the prices when they clear customs. I can't work anything out until then. As a rule of thum the prices in pounds is generally the same as in dollars. So $10.00 will be £10.00. This covers the cost of shipping which is expensive as the stamps are heavy and customs and VAT. It all adds to the price.
