Absolutely nothing to do with crafts, but rather garden orientated
We have a blackbird nest in the clematis on the back wall of the house, right by the patio doors have been really chuffed to be able to sit and watch the blackbirds bringing in worms etc, and up to last night, I know there were 3 feathered heads poking out and squaking Then this morning, I heard a terrible lot of squawks, looked up, and there I saw, a large birds ( wood pidgeon sized ) flying off with something , and 2 blackbirds chasing it I can only presume thats one of the babies gone
This evening, the nest is empty, but I have seen the female bird still collecting stuf in the garden,,, sooo do you reckon she has moved the other two babies to safety ? I really hope so,, I have been quite protective of them,, the boys havent been allowed to kick footballs in the nest direction, and the dog is under strict orders, NOT to sit and peer at the nest longingly ! |

Ros how sad that the big birds have snatched the little ones, we have a nest in our conifers at the bottom of the garden, and I am forever shooing off the cats and big birds, upto now they are doing okay, the mum has been collecting sticks and bits from my garden and flitting back to her nest Sallyx |

Am hoping the other two "chicks" are hidden in the bushes in the garden, and that we will see them in a couple of weeks time learning to forage etc. "mum" was definitely still collecting worms up for something yesterday evening. |

Sounds like you lost that clutch. Happened to our pair last year...they had 3 eggs in the nest and a squirrel raided it. Mind you, they moved house and raised a further 3 broods of chicks successfully, so I reckon you'll see another lot soon. I keep hearing baby birds in the garden, but they are all in the undergrowth. We have a nesting pair of blackbirds, thrushes, doves, wood pigeons, robins and our bluetits are back in the nesting box. Saw our squirrels doing what comes naturally the other week too so probably baby squirrels there soon too. Maria x |
