I was sat relaxing in my garden yesterday justlooking at my neighbours Wisteria, ( mine died while i was away)! Anyway i became aware of 2 beautiful lilac /lavender blue butterflies, smilar in colour to the wisteria. They futtered all over but mainly stayed on blue plants? They also hovered ariound the holly where i got a good look at them. Definately pale lilac and just a touch of black on the tips of the winds, rather like in size and shape to a small cabbage white butterfly. I looked it up and think it is a Holly Blue butterfly. I read last night that butterflies in different regions can vary from one to another in the same species. That's probably why the butterflies i saw were lilac/lavender blue? I went to my friends house today and she had a similar pair fluttering around her Lilac tree, they were also pale lilac colour too. ![]() Poppy The picture shows the underside, the right side is deeper in colour.

Apparently they are on the increase and going further north than before, so that's great news. I feel so lucky to have seen them. Poppy |
