Hi Poppy....I love this week (can't get there myself - but have a big tv now, so like it's in your living room )Can't understand them doing purples and lilac again (my fave colours and that's my garden) but they did that 2 years ago, didn't they? Can't wait to see the big gardens..hope it's not rectangle water feature with a sculpture at the top again.... Did you see that tall orchid? the chap was saying how difficult the logistics are getting everthing over from Jersey (don't know about you, but I find it hard getting a plant back from garden centre in one piece) And what about the goth plant - must get one of those! Glad I've found someone else who's a fan.......Kasi and the cat really aren't into it at all.... Let's see what tonight's prog brings....(well rain apparently )Love x |

I was very fortunate to have got invited to go in 1999. It was a memorable experience. My friend Joan, wanted someone to go with her, she paid for my ticket in because she is a member, and I just paid my train fair to Euston. We walked from there to Chelsea, boy it's a long way? That year Annabel Lennox-Boyd won the gold, she litereally lives about 1/2 mile from me in a counrty house and wonderful gardens which she opens to the general public once a month.( when the bills come in I think?) I leaned over her garden at Chelsea with it's gold cup and medalion and said" She's nicked that idea from me, she's been round snooping in our gardens again! " The crowd were all laughing like mad. It's not that upper class, there are plenty of us normal people around. But we have to sit on the grass, as the Marquees are for the walthy! I talked to Carol Klien that year, her garden was full of striking blue flowers, fogot the name! Anchusa's? But when she heard my northern accent she chatted my head off. My friend Joan thought i knew her!!This year, they have a garden of Van Gough, (either him or Monet?) complete with his canvas half painted, his paint pallette and his boots outside the back door, as if he's gone in for a cuppa tea? They have the Iris's growing for him to paint. Wonderful!I probably won't see the rest as Ray hates the programme, so i will have to log on to the web. Did you see all those gorgeous Orchids? The smell is fantastic, it really is so sweet and a bit sickly if it is hot. I wish Joan would want someone to go with her again this year? ( i probably showed her up, knowing me?) Poppy |
