That's pretty impressive Magz - you've got all these now? Is the 2nd one down agapanthus? I bought some seeds and popped them in, but I think they take 2-3 years to flower???

I wonder why colour of the month at Chelsea is purple, for the third year running....I love it myself, but you'd think the designers would try and be a bit different......

Love x :wave:

Terry,

Sorry for butting in here but I think the second pic is an alium , onion family...

I didnt know that Agapanthus takes 2/3 years to flower... I have just planted a prepared one which has been in a week or two but it hasnt done anything yet!

I think they are Aliums, they are really pretty, my seeds are just coming through :thumbup;

I always get my Acanthus and Agapanthus mixed up and spend half the year calling it an Acanthus and the other Agapanthus :blink: :faint:

I am always getting the names of the flowers in the garden mixed up, much to hubbys amusement :lol: He dug up an old Lily today and asked me to repot it, I couldnt make out which way up it went :blink: :lol:

Beautiful Magz, I like everything you have there. :thumbup;
Your flowers are out earlier than ours is? I still have Bluebells and Iris out?
The Alliums are gorgeous but a lot smaller than the Agapanthus.
Agapanthus comes in Blues or White, in NZ they grew like weeds but were very beautiful to see. Great swarths of them all over the counrtyside verges and along long paths to their front doors. Wonderful. :thumbup;
I think it is the seeds that take 3 years to become mature bulbs in order to flower. I am looking for some already planted to add to my garden.

Magz,

I had no trouble growing them in pots in Devon ... didnt bring any with us when we moved here and I have a white one planted which hasnt shown yet, wwell actually it did have 2 leaves but they have just drooped and look very unhappy ... you could try a drop of multi grow ??

I think you are right about the being pot bound beacause I rarely repotted mine..

I think they are a bit like Clivia ... that like to be pot bound and this year the leaves look great but no flower , not yet anyway... the season seems later here bbut my Clivia is an indoor plant!! Crazy how the weather seems to be mucking everything about!!

If I didnt mention it , your flowers look beautiful,

thanks for the tips jen :thumbup;

I fed them last year, they put on alot of green growth but still no flowers ;)

I shall feed them at the weekend,

My clivia's have gone yellow, they look very sad, I will feed them also, I have put them on the patio were they get alot of sun and it is pretty sheltered. The problem with them I think is I had to divide them last year and like you say they tend to like being pot bound so they are sulking at the mo :thumbup; <_< ;)

I forgot to tell you, it's funny to see you guys planting columbines they grow like weeds here and get everywhere, we spend a lot of time trying to get rid of them :lol: I love them though, there is just so many of them and they spread so fast here! they are all through the woods too.

Hi jinny, I shall try and take a kind of panaramic view or something like it this weekend :thumbup;

Grandmothers bonnet is a lovely name for Aquilegia, I think the common names are so much better than the latin :thumbup;
