Hi ![]() I was i my local £ shop last week and they were selling 4 packets of seeds for £1, I couldnt resist and liked the look of a packet of Super Sprouts called Alfalfa, they were really simple to do: Soak them overnight in tepid water, drain and leave in a covered glass jar for 7 days, rinsing them everyday. Mine have now been growing for 7 days and look like they are ready to eat: ![]() ![]() They taste similar to cress and apparantly are really good for you, we are going to have some on a salad later Alfalfa properties Sally

Hi Sally - they are very good for you..and delicious in a weird way. ..Can I just suggest two things...cover top with one layer of old tights (they need to breathe or they will go sour and your cloth looks a bit thick) Secondly - I used to rinse them 2 or 3 times a day in this muggy weather....you should then be able to eat them in 4-5 days...... If they smell at all sour - don't eat them, though yours do look fresh..so happy munching...... You can do the same with sunflower seeds - eat within two days of sprouting - very unusual Mung beans - blinking ghastly - goodness knows how the chinese get them to the lovely bean sprout stage they do....Hope this helps....if I think of any others I used to do - I'll let you know.... Love x

for the tips Terry I am using a muslin cloth over the jar, but can see what you mean about the thickness so I have replaced with tights I have had a taste and they do taste weird, but rather nice. I have been rinsing twice a day and they smell kind of green and fresh atm Might have a go at the sunflower seeds too Isnt it brilliant watching these things grow, they were sprouting after just 1 night :ph43r: I will let you know what they are like when we have had some tonight on a salad Sally

I love alfala sprouts, my dad ate them everyday, said they were good for his arthritis. I eat mine in a pita shell with cottage cheese and sunfower seeds, and sometimes bacon bits. Yummy! Your looks really good Jen. |

Hey - has anyone seen the ad under this thread......it's an automatic sprouter........
Just add water and sprouts.......(er, yes that's what you usually do..... <_< ) At the amazing - never to be repeated price of (wait for it) pds 50.00......so that's pds 50.00 for a plastic pot then..... Didn't even have an old pair of tights thrown in ... Sally, you ought to market your glass jar - as the Sally's Improved Super Automatic Sprouter with BOGOF Bit of Old Tights...... Let me know when you make your first million Here's the ad http://www.freshlifesprouter.com/main.asp Love x |
