Just a thought - and may be stating the obvious here...but don't sprout the ones that are in seed packets ie Thompson and Morgan - they will have been treated and are only for growing in the garden as plants......

(Full of useless bits of information me :blink: :blink: )

Love x :wave:

:ta: Terry, I didnt realise there were different types, why on earth would anyone want that growing in the garden as decoration :blink:

I have had some more today and even given some to family members, its tastes lovely, I think its nice just on its own :thumbup;

I wouldnt mind trying the sunflower seeds next...

Oh and Terry I find your useless bits of info very interesting - you could put all your bits of useless info into a book, it would be a facsinating read, ;) From fish to Fungi to who designed the sewers in London in a couple of pages :lol: :lol: See I do listen and take it in ;)

Oh - it's mainly grown as cattle food - being super nutritious - humans can't eat it when it's a plant - too fibrous.....

Here look:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfalfa

(Here's my fave bit of useless info: did you know more people are kicked to death by donkeys than die in major air crashes each year?????)

Now bet that was worth staying up for :blink: :blink: :blink:

If you do sunflower seeds - eat them as soon as they sprout - like next day - they're really crunchy and weird..but go brown very quickly and then not nice....

Off I go to read another encyclopedia ;) :lol: :lol: :lol: :groan

Do you shell them when they have sprouted Terry?

Wonder if you can do the same with pumpkin seeds?

Love the Donkey info, will remember that one when I next fly :thumbup; :lol: :lol:

Hi Sally - you don't use sunflower seeds in their shells.....just the unshelled ones....(again only from health food shop)

And yes you can do pumpkin - but they take a lot longer by which time they're often off.....but you can try....

Have you ever tried lightly toasting sunflower seeds under the grill......(not the sprouted ones)......another weird experience...... :thumbup;

Hi Terry, I have had toasted sunflower seeds a long time ago, and remeber them being really tasty :thumbup;

Off to the Health food shop at the weekend to see what I can get :thumbup;

All my sprouts are just about gone, everyone loved them :thumbup;
