The 2007 Appeal!

CB is hosting a new Appeal! We are looking for items of clothing for premature babies, particularly those in Special Care units. These can be made in yarn or fabric. They must be safe, of course, and of varying very small sizes. If you don't do these crafts, you are welcome to offer items made by others if you include something handmade by yourself, possibly something for the parents so that they know there are people out there thinking of them :thumbup;

Please sign up and take part in this very worthy Appeal! :huggy:

Sylvia, to quote the original thread in The Sheepfold:

Quote:

closing date is 31st October :thumbup;  That should give everybody plenty of time to make some items :)  I'd say just clothing, as that can be the hardest thing to find! :rolleyes:  When Emma had Chloe, she was actually premmie sized, though full-term (both Emma and Paul are small folk) and clothing her was a total nightmare :eek:

Do remember that if you have friends/family who knit/crochet/sew, then they are very welcome to join in too! :thumbup;  Any premmie sized clothing, in yarn or sewn from soft, safe fabrics!  If you'd like to participate but can't/don't do sewing or yarncrafts, then pieces obtained elsewhere are acceptable too, perhaps with a token made by yourself (a card or tag, maybe - possibly for the parent(s)) :)

Steve, I couldn't agree more, a very worthy cause :thumbup; . I am a medical secretary on the Neonatal Unit at the Leicester Royal Infirmary so I know the need for very very small items of clothing for these babies. Can I just kindly add, that if anybody is making hats or mittens, to please NOT put any kind of tie such as ribbon on.

Our Unit has been very fortunate in donations of clothing, and we have even had a very large donation of hand made cot quilts which would cost an absolute fortune in the shops.

I have a few items that I would be willing to donate Steve, which my mother-in-law had made for the Unit, but at the time they were so blessed with clothing etc so I kept hold of them..........for such a time as this!! :hooker: :hooker:

Just let me know where to send them and they'll be on their way! ;)

Catherine what a beautiful set! Lovely colour combination too. I am sure the little jacket would be fine. I think it's a case of ties being a choking threat as well as getting in the way of all the equipment that is usually attached to a prem baby!

I'm hoping to provide an address for items to be sent to soon :thumbup;

Thanks for the support and extra information, Martine :huggy: It's surprising how difficult it can be to track down the most accurate details for this kind of thing ;)
