Eileen, how you create inserts depends on the kind of insert and the style of card
Normally, you have a right and left side, of course, so the first thing to do is to create a new document which is the same size as the open card Now, format it for two columns
These represent the two sides of the fold
In the lefthand column, you can either place nothing at all or a nice pic. Some folk are now using framed pics on that side Selecting "text center" will ensure centralised positioning between the sides but you do have to work out centralisation between top and bottom yourself. You will need to use the Enter key to move to the righthand column! Again, you can include pics and/or a frame, but put the frame in after inserting the text you want if you don't want to hand write it
Frames for these must have a transparent blank area in the centre (usually GIFs or PNGs). The alternative is to use a graphics package to put the text into a copy of the frame you want to use
Hope that helps I don't actually use Word - I use OpenOffice, which has several different features

Willow, i use word for all my inserts. It 's easy to centralise using the align centre button, but for cards such as A5 and A6 inserts, i find doing your greeting first, then choosing font, then set font size, then tab down to where you want the wording to be. Then just use tab to send it across to the correct position it will be on the insert, once it is there you can fine tune this until perfect.( for A6 i usually tab 7/8 times and it is perfect. ( but i suppose it depends on what margins you are working with?) Don't for get your most important tool is your print preview in all this? Be prepared to move and play around with the greeting position and also by printing out untill you get it right, and when you have got it perfect, save it? You could do a series of different ones for all sizes and all greetings and burn it on a disc so you don't take up room on your pc?:thumbup; Cheers Poppy |
