Autumnal Update In Jens Garden

Today I was having one of those days where I felt unsettled so I took myself to my back garden , which needed my attention desperately!!

The sunflowers were getting blown down and along with them my lovely sweep peas , which were beginning to look raggy so i pulled them all up and most of the sunflowers ... it looks naked along that fence but I have decided to fill the patch with spring flowers ... wallflowers and bulbs maybe i thought ...

You know what its like when you start , well i do anyway ... i flit from one part of the garden to another ... i went to look at my somewhat sorry veggie patch... pulled out the first lot of runner beans and gathered a few seeds... pulled up some half eaten cabbages and dug up all the carrtots... next year i must remember to thin them some more!!... cut a huge courgette for my dinner and found some edible looking runner beans.... i also picked my one apple on the tree and ate it, yummy it was!!1 cant remember what apple tree it is thogh !!

Sally ... you will be well pleased with me .... I have gatherd millions of poppy seeds and sweet peas , however I do still have loads more to collect but I am aching all over and think i did too much! If the weather is nice in the next couple of days I will finish collecting seeds and tidying up out there... i also pulled up 2 oniions .... I also planted some sorry looking swedes but dont know if they will grow ok !

The worst part about my couple of hours out there was I seem to have lost my eternity ring!! It wasnt an expensive ring but I hate losing anything .... just told hubby and he reminded me that D S I L has a metal detector so we will see if we can borrow it!

Hi Jen :wave:

You aint half a worker :faint:

Hope your corgette and runner beans taste nice :thumbup; I had a pear off my tree yesterday, still a bit hard so wont pick anymore for a few weeks now ;)

Good that you have collected some seeds, which remnds me I should get out there in the next few days and see what esle I can harvest :thumbup;

I really hope that you find your ring, thats happened to me in the past and I know how upsetting it can be, I never found mine :( :crossed: that the metal detector picks it up :thumbup;

Now I suggest you get on the sofa, switch the TV on and have a well earned rest :thumbup;

What a lot of work!
I've collected a few seeds but we had a really severe frost followed by hot humid weather with no rain for a couple fo weeks and the garden is done for, the only plants doing well now are the hardy mums and geraniums.
I hope you find your ring!

V... We have borrowed a grandsons metal detector and hopefully if the weather is drier tomorrow we will have a go in the garden where I was working and may be lucky enough to find my ring!

While out shoppingh today I directed Roy to some jewellers to window shop , just in case! :r
