Hi all, :wave:

these are 3 little seahorses, made out of clay, with glass inlay.

they were made with a cookie cutter, the middle is then carefully dug out to leave a lip around the edge. this is ten biscuit fired. small little pieces of coloured glass is then placed inside and fired again to melt the glass.

:thumbup; They are lovely, did you use glass beads or smaller pieces?

thanks all, :thumbup;
I used very small pieces of glass, they are off-cuts from stainglass window glass, one of the ladies got them for us,

I have used normal bottle glass before, bristol sherry bottles are made from blue glass,

I have also used glass nuggets, the sort used in the bottom of vases. but you have to be sure that the glass isnt spray tinted or it will melt clear ;)

Great seahorses Magz. :thumbup;
When i did ceramics they wouldn't let me use glass in my projects? They were frightened it may seep out and stick to the bottom of the kiln?
I bet they sparkel like anything when they are in sunlight? Hugs Poppy

hi poppy, :wave:
glass melting and sticking can happen, your have to use a very small amount of glass, your more likley to get that happening when glaze starts dripping off a pot that has too much glaze on it when its fired. afterall thats what glaze is, glass and a hole lot of other stuff mixed into water. ;) I have had stuff of mine stick to the kiln shelf, the tutor just knocks it of with a hammer !
