I allways have a good look round our local charity shops for yarn, and I found one massive stash of huge cones! these must have been from a business as they are too big to use on home knitting machines! £2.50 each! I could only carry two as they are so big but there was a dark magenta pink that I will be going back for on Saturday if there is any left!

this is really pretty bushed acrylic with a really soft fluff, the pink one has rasberry and pale pink and the blue has sky blue and navy blue in it! if I had been with hubs I would have brought more! as it was, these were hard work lugging back home on the bus! best £5.00 I have spent in ages! I have ordered myself a yarn winder, that winds nice shaped ball of yarn that have flat abottoms and pull from the middle and don't roll around the floor when you use them! I shall be winding some smaller balls of each to make it easier to use, these take up to much room and are not very portable! :knit:  :hooker: :hooker: :hooker: :kit:

Great bargain, I've got a box of cones upstairs in a cupboard, and a knitting machine up the loft! I tried selling a couple of times but no one was interested. :(

Great bargain Catherine, did you ask if they would save you the cones you wanted? Some charity shops do. I usually say i will pay a bit extra if i want something and cannot carry it there and then?
I once got a very large cone of Arran wool, that made Jake 3 Arran jumpers and me an Arran cardy, all for £3! ( Jake was a tidler at the time but still it made 3 22-24" chest).
