Hi all :wave:
I heard from somewhere that if you use compatible inks for your printer,after you have replaced the cartridge 3 times you then have to use a original one to reset the chip before using compatible ones again,has anyone any idea if this is true.

I used compatible for a while, and then had problems, so may be this is so. I had to keep cleaning and wasting ink, so in the end bought a new printer and have been using Tesco and Epson alternatively.

I use compatibles all the time ;) Many printers have a "maintenance counter" built in - basically, you're expected to take it to a service centre who will run a utility (that you can get free off the internet) which resets the counter, and charge you for it :blink: In some, there's a little hatch you can open. Inside is a sponge. you rinse that out, dry it thoroughly, put it back in, and all's well again :D

And don't forget, http://www.hornetcs.co.uk for really cheap cartridges :thumbup;

Wish I'd known that before we threw the other printer out! :angry:

Jo, unfortunately it's something that printer manufacturers have tried to keep quiet :blink: Of course, eventually, a printer will fail and there's nothing for it but to replace it - especially when repair costs more than a new printer ;)
