I was given a lot of rather nice plum coloured 4 ply yarn...I found a pattern in a book that I wanted to make and made this shawl
its called the sweat pea shawl and its from the Happy Hooker book. Its an American book so it lists the yarn needed in worsted weight which I think is approx the same as arun weight yarn. I used two strands of wool together and it worked well.

I also had to unravel it 3 times, go on line,print a sheet of error corrections, work out that they had made the mistake in the instructions and put it right. Unfortunately the copy of the book I have has a two page pdf file of corrections! that's not good is it! further copies have been printed with the corrections in the right places...pah thats so annoying!

here is the close up of the pattern.

Well done Happy Hooker! :thumbup; It's really lovely, and the pattern when you see it close up is delicate looking just like sweet peas.

I had problems with an internet pattern for some Hardanger, and it is so annoying when you've done hours of work and find the pattern is wrong.

Beautiful shawl, Catherine :thumbup; While the occasional error creeps into a book, I think most of us accept that, but to have so many is dreadful! :o Mind you, I've noticed that typos have become very common in modern publishing, which is ridiculous given that computers are used for typesetting :wacko:

It's beautiful, what a shame about the errors though, isn't it a pity you aren't allowed to swap the book for a new, correct version :(

Catherine, it's a beautiful shawl, well done on doing it so beautifully and also on overcoming and correcting the wrong instructiona. :thumbup;

BUT did you know that in persian carpet making , where all those small boys are made to weave those gorgeous intricate patterned carpets, that it is tradition to have a stitch wrong? It is said that they have to put in a certain amount of wrong stiches/threads, because only their God is perfect and we mortals are not and only their God can make a perfect thing?
