I have an old Sizzix original die cutting machine and have heard that you can emboss ordinary brass stencils with it, does anyone know how? not sure how to use them with the cutting mat. It's just sitting on the shelf doing nothing so thought I would play around with it again and see what I can do with it. :D

I have a siiszzix too, and rarely use it now! Why is it that you really. really want something and after a few years you don't use it much! :r
I'm not sure if you can use ordinary embossing stencils, but you can use sizzix ones with a convertor.
If you try You tubes there may be a video that will help.

Love to hear how you get on!

From what I can gather Eileen, you can do so. You need to get the "sandwich" right, which may mean some fiddling about using funky foam or thick card ;) There have been complaints that some machines do damage the brass stencils after several uses, but that may be a result of the way some operate - or the way the machine has been used  I know that many have warped plates - because the user doesn't keep turning them over on each use, to avoid that warping ;)

The Wizard certainly handles them, without trouble - but again it's getting the "sandwich" right :)

Well I did have a play around yesterday with the stencils using a thick piece of foam and then card and had no luck at all so gave up in the end :groan Might give the converter a try if I can find out where to buy one from, will let you know how I get on.

I can vouch for them too, Eileen :thumbup; We've made two major purchases from them and have no qualms about recommending them :)
