Possible partial spoiler: ========== white stuff ============ The first five pairs are vailid Chinese ideographs. I don't read Chinese, but Babelfish claims one of them is "yeast" and another is "fodder". I did a 256-alphabet Caesar with XOR, but that didn't yield any insight. =============end of white stuff======= |

Ok, I will give a hint: SPOILER ****************** maybe the encryptions if offset-related ****************** END SPOILER |

I was put off by the weird characters in the ciphertext, the dearth of available data, and the absence of an algorithm, so I haven't even looked at it in any detail. Sorry. |

Well, I can give you a hint then. The weird characters are just ascii, so that should indicate that some char value (ex. a=97) has been added to a constant value or a variable and that value gets set back to a letter. I gave you a hint about the offset being involved with the encryption. so maybe it is something like this: a (79) + constant (ex. 60) = ï (139). But I said the offset is calculated too! EDIT Revelation: I am that guest

Despite several attempts, I'm just not finding the correct algorithm here (Even though I THINK I know what the plain text is)
So, could you give us a somewhat larger sample to work with? And perhaps specify the hex (or decimal) values for each character? Thanks! Donald |

SPOILER *************** Well, I already told you it was offset-related. So what if I used a constant shift number to add to every char and then add the offset to it? Or maybe the char is substracted from a constant number!!! *************** END SPOILER I don't think it will be that hard with this spoiler. Programming a tool to read the ordinal values of the characters is probably the easiest way to crack it.EDIT: lol I forgot my own encryption. It took me an age to crack my own one
