I have cracked it too.

SPOILER
***************
STOLEN WATERS ARE SWEET AND BREAD EATEN IN SECRET IS PLEASANT BUT HE KNOWETH NOT THAT THE DEAD ARE THERE AND THAT HER GUESTS ARE IN THE DEPTHS OF HELL THE PROVERBS OF SOLOMON A WISE SON MAKETH A GLAD FATHER BUT A FOOLISH SON IS THE HEAVINESS OF HIS MOTHER
****************
Isn't the last part a bit discriminating? :|

Anyway, I have cracked this with my Vigenère application. It now includes a frequency checker. I will post the source along with the updated .exe soon. :)

I don't live in the US, so I don't think I can register.

They charge a small extra fee (to cover added postal expense I assume) for overseas members, but otherwise appear to have no restrictions on membership.

Do you want me to devise a challenge? A serious challenge?

I should warn you it will not be easy. At least, I might make it a several-stage challenge, which gets harder as it goes along.

I should also warn you that it won't appear immediately! Alas, I have other stuff to do. But I will consider it a "current background task", which means it'll be what I'm working on when my brain freezes up on that "other stuff" - which happens regularly.

I do have an idea for it.

I've been thinking of an idea for a more elaborate challenge myself, but it's also going to take quite a while to set up. Looking forward to seeing yours!

Tempted to use EBCDIC :-)

No, I'll stick to an ASCII representation of an English language plaintext - but I won't be telling you which corpus I'm using. The ciphertext, of course, will not be ASCII - just bits.

And you will tell us the encryption algorithm, right?

Yes, you'll have full details of the algorithm. Otherwise I could post any old junk and say "crack that", and then chuckle up my sleeve. Gee, what fun.

All I will conceal is the plaintext and the key.
