A recent news about the Stuxnet is: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/01/world/middleeast/obama-ordered-wave-of-cyberattacks-against-iran.html?_r=1 Edited by mok-kong shen, Jun 12 2012, 08:06 AM.

A number of countries in the world have now cyber defense centres. A German newspaper article yesterday has a picture showing military personnel being trained for cyber warfare. The article mentions defensive and offensive aspects, with also a reference to Flame. There is an article ' Microsoft Emergency Bulletin; Unauthorized Certificate used in "Flame" ', see http://isc.sans.edu/diary.html?storyid=13366&rss It seems IMHO not unlikely that there might be, among others, an exploitation of backdoors that had been implanted in the proprietary software involved in digital signatures, an issue that I had earlier raised in another thread. It should at least be crystal clear anyway by now that digital certificates is the door through which the attackers must pass before doing anything essentially evil and which must therefore be closed for all really vital security applications through replacing the blackbox proprietrary software with ones that are verified to be correct and without backdoors, even if a price of eventual inefficiency has to be paid thereby. (BTW since well over a year I had written a number of emails to some people that are responsible for IT security of the public, attempting to call their attention to the issue I raised, but have unfortunately barely obtained any echos from them.) Recent news articles are: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/01/world/middleeast/obama-ordered-wave-of-cyberattacks-against-iran.html?pagewanted=all http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/us-israel-developed-computer-virus-to-slow-iranian-nuclear-efforts-officials-say/2012/06/19/gJQA6xBPoV_story.html Edited by mok-kong shen, Jun 20 2012, 06:56 PM.

There is a more recent successor named "Gauss", see: http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9230130/Nation_backed_surveillance_malware_monitors_Middle_East_bank_accounts http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9230272/Kaspersky_pleads_for_crypto_help_to_probe_Gauss_malware A variant of Flame is yet active, see (in German): http://www.lokalkompass.de/wesel/ratgeber/kaspersky-lab-eine-variante-der-cyberwaffe-flame-ist-weiter-aktiv-d211037.html Edited by mok-kong shen, Sep 17 2012, 05:55 PM.
