Dear Members, If you wanna read something interesting on Quantum Computing - I recommend hakin9 Extra's recent issue devoted exclusively to QC.

You can download the free teaser here: http://hakin9.org/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2012/07

The given link doesn't seem to work.

BTW perhaps a question at this opportunity: Would a future mighty quantum computer definitely break all kinds of block ciphers, i.e. irrespective of thier sophistication of design, key length and the size of the blocks employed? I surmise that's unlikely to be the case. Very probably it would be hard to have public key crpytos that effectively resist analysis with big quantum computers. On the other hand, IMHO for really top secret communications (which as a rule are besides of low volume) it shouldn't be a critical problem for the two partners involved to manage to securely keep a secret key (preferrably as a master key from which session keys are dynamically generated for use) and with well-designed block ciphers and with good MACs in encryption processing everything would be ok. In other words, the worst case impact of quantum computers doesn't affect the really top secret communications (for personal as well as for other purposes), which of course doesn't deny the validity of the concern that the consequences of an eventual breakdown of public key infrastructure due to availability of quantum computers could be desasterous for the society in general (imagine only the scenario that all online financial transactions in the form we know them today were insecure).

Could you read at least a couple of articles there in full? I didn't manage to do that (only a very tiny little bit of most pieces could be seen).
