I'll be the first to admit my ignorace on the specifics of motorcycle racing. But sometimes you have to get out of the forest to see the trees. It's interesting to hear all the banter and fun poking in this forum about one manufacture over another. But if one steps back and takes a real look at the equation of motorcycle racing one immediately realizes that the design and engineering of the bike itself is no more than 33% of the total factor in creating a consistent winner on the track. A chain is no stronger than its weakest link. And a bike could never perform beyond the skill level of its pilot. This raises my point. I know this is true in snowbording competition, so I assume its also true in other sports. The final factor in creating the winner is advertising bucks. Obviously the bigger your company, the larger your advertising budget, and the more you can afford to buy the best riders to show off your product. I wonder then, what would happen, if we took ALL the riders in any given race, and put them all on the same bike. We let em race a bunch of times to create a standard or a handicap so to speak. Once we have a consistent history of all the riders on the standard bike we can start to look at the who really is the best rider. In order to find out which is the best bike however, we would have to find a way to factor out the skill of the rider. Of course we could have a zillion races, ALL riders required to ride ALL bikes (what a mess huh?). OK so my point should be obvious by now. I wonder how the results would change if you put Nicky Hayden on a Kawasaki with his brothers, Mladin on a Honda, Spies on a Yamaha, etc. etc. I know what happens in snowboarding when you do this. You might not like the answer. Just my "out in left field" observations. Any comments (besides "stick to snowboarding" ) ?

NASCAR DID THIS FOR YEARS, ON SAT. IT WAS CALLED IROC. MOST RACES AND THE CHAMPION WERE THE SAME GUY'S THAT WON ON SUN. AS FAR AS WHICH BIKES ARE BEST????? I THINK IT'S A LITTLE MORE THEN 33%. KAWASAKI HASN'T WON A SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP FOR YEARS AND YOUR SAYING THEY HAVE NEVER HAD THE BIG BUCKS OR A GOOD RIDER???? |

listen sign in if your going to post, so i know who is full of shit, to further the conversation, its always the rider to a certain point of course...nicky hayden did race a suzuki when entering the ama and he did well, this boy could ride a schwinn and kick ass! its rider talent! perfect ex. this is why rossi left honda...i know you guys think im just talking about 46 cause i worship him, but honestly , he talks in his book about everyone saying " yeah hes winning cuz hes on the rc211v and its the greatest bike ......so he left and went to yamaha to see for himself and everyonf the truth. yamaha hadnt even been on a podium for 11 years at that time so it is rider to a point i think you all can agree, but when you get to a premier level like moto gp.... its like having 10 jordans on the court at the same time, if one guy had to play in dress shoes, another barefoot, and just one guy had nice basketball shoes ...chances are he would win.........Doc |

All these teams have one problem in the AMA. SUZUKI. These are all fast riders and the bikes are straight up rippers dont matter whoz name is on the side of the tank. The suzukis just make everyone else look slow! LOL. J |

well, once again i guess you forgot to sign in... and as for me being full of shit, well your entitled to your opinion? it would be nice to talk to someone that knew what the hell they were talking about though...if you were a race fan you would know that kaw took a huge absence in racing for a few years for development , rem the zx-7 dinosaur tat eboz rode the wheels off, well they as you may or maynot know needed more! as far as dumping $ into the program brother its expensive to race! and kaw actually has one of the smaller programs out there budget wise. theyre just getting back, takes time with testing and development...but its working and theyll be back,i hope its good for the sport for more mfgs. to be up there, esp.since the loss of Ducati next year! and if you think the zx-10 the problem ,guess you should tell chris walker who won the wsbk race last week on.....a zx-10!!!!!!! |

I DIDN'T FORGET TO SIGN IN. I'M JUST A GUEST. AS FOR CHRIS WALKER I GUESS HE IS A GOOD RIDER OR HE WOULDN'T BE IN WSDK. BUT I THINK HIS WIN HAD TO DO WITH EVERYONE (BIG NAMES) WRECKING IN THE RAIN ON THE FIRST LAP. PLEASE RE READ SLIDERS 3ED PARAGRAPH ABOUT $ SPENT AND GOOD TEAMS. KAW IS SPENDING BIG $ MAYBE NOT IN THE AMA,(STEPPING STONE TO THE BIG LEAGUE) BUT STILL BIG $. WIN ON SUN. SELL ON MON. YES I ALSO THINK THE MORE MFGS THE BETTER. WHY EXACTLY DID DUCATI DROP OUT OF THE AMA??????????? WINS. SALES IN THE US. LACK OF CASH?? |

the ducati thing is somewhat of a mystery...there sales are the best they've been in the states...i really think they took a hurting two years ago when the whole damn field of wsbk were duc's, at least thats what i heard....so maybe they need a year to re group, i know they are spending some cash in gp, and its paying off, hope they make it back soon, as a one time owner i love the sound of those bad boys!!! |

It's a proven fact that if you when on Saturday or Sunday that sales are good on Monday. Back when Pontiac raced in NASCAR we had better sales of the Grand Prix when they were winning. Hopefully Duc. will have a downturn in sales to reconvince them that they need to reinvest in the AMA. |
