It began on the first day of September in the year 2014 when eleven year old Raven Ashcroft boards up the train to Hogwarts after being raised in the muggle world for most of her life, discovering a world that until recently, she had remained oblivious to. A thirteen year old Ryan Davidson on the other hand returns to Hogwarts for his third year after two previous years of self-discovery, now a newly transformed teenager, ready to take on what is coming next in his young life. Raven is sorted into gryffindor which is consequently Ryan’s house as well; just one of the many workings fate has in store for two young people, unaware of their entwined destinies and its present unraveling. Ryan and Raven had met briefly on certain occasions, but the scene that had caused them to truly know each other was surprisingly through demise. After Raven had received a heartbreaking letter, she found sanctuary in an empty classroom… until Ryan walked in and broke her solitude.. as well as the pain that had nagged at the young girl’s heart. Thus, their friendship started, a bond that was founded on brotherly love. Ryan, whose parents passed away when we was young longed for the affections of a family and was thankfully given by his loving Aunt Maggie. Yet, there was a loneliness in her his heart that could only come from being raised as an only child, amidst a huge castle, a place that would have been bright and cheery had he been endowed with siblings. Raven on the other hand, pretty much suffered the same longing for affection and care that Ryan had. She was raised in a high-profile muggle household, her parents esteemed in society. She therefore lived a controlled life, a life filled with high expectations and pressure of being a trophy daughter. Her parents, who were too busy to have hands on experience with her nurturing, left Raven with tutors and mentors who tried in vain to change her rather rebellious personality. It seemed amazing that their lives were in a way in synch, but Ryan and Raven had bonded over their similarities.. some of them, such as their taste for music became a vessel for times of fun together, delving into adventures that were both exciting and dangerous. It didn’t take too long before they developed a close relationship: bestfriends. Then Raven blossomed into teen hood as Ryan carried on with his, the changes between them slightly evident as they slowly matured both physically and emotionally. Raven had the chance at first love, while Ryan was tackling his own relationships. Then, as if things could get more similar between them, they both had difficulties with their respective relationships at the same time. That strengthened their bond more as they continued to confide in each other, the fact that they were very alike slowly dawned into them. They remained friends however, despite the mild stint of attraction and awareness between them… until something happened that broke the balance. Their lips met for the first time one cold night when they were alone in gryffindor tower. That event brought to life passions and questions confusing enough for people as young as they were. With their friendship on the line, as well as a string of people tangled in the situation, the two agreed to keep what happened between them a secret and carry on as if nothing happened… unfortunately, nobody told them how difficult it would be. A short while after their kiss, Ryan tried to convince Raven that what took place between them wasn’t a mistake. Being young and confused however, Raven vehemently disagreed. Thankfully, Ryan didn’t take it as a signal to give up but rather, a sign to wait… wait for a time when things weren’t too complicated between them. This created a promise between them, a promise to give their relationship a shot when the time is right. This promise was seemingly forgotten however as they carried on with their lives and relationships… Their feelings for each were relished later on when they had entered into a brief spate of non official relationship.. in other words, friends with benefits. Their moments were sweet, but short-lived as Raven once again decided to end it which might have been a wise choice… there were other people’s feelings on the line aside from theirs and thus, Ryan and Raven tried to piece their lives together, to repair the friendship that had been broken, and hope they can keep it that way… Time passed and Ryan and Raven continued to tread through life, seeing enough to know that it wasn’t always rainbows and smiles. Once again, their destinies entwined and they each had to go through heartbreaking scenarios that broke them, at the same time allowing them to grow into wisdom. Ryan discovered the truth about his parents’ death, and their equally dark past. Raven on the other hand had come into terms with the truth about her parentage, and a past that had been kept from her. Both had sunk into dark times, overwhelmed by the cruelty of fate, the silver lining that was supposedly present remained invisible. By the workings of fate, as well as the people in their loves however, they managed to emerge from it, new people who were renewed and whole. Then as their lives blossomed, so did their feelings for each other. As Raven entered her fifth year at Hogwarts and Ryan his last, they finally got together officially. It could be described nothing less than a year of love and bliss, the reunion of souls that had been suppressed for too long. They spent the entire year in happiness, everything in the world seemed to fall into place when together, as if nothing could break them apart. Indeed, fate had finally allowed two people to be together, two people who were virtually made for each other.. two souls that had found solace in never being kept apart. Surely, nothing could end a love this strong? Then it ended. Shortly after Ryan’s graduation, a twist of events had caused him to leave England, along with Raven who has two more years to spend at school. Their dreams shattered, plunging into an unknown future, the couple ended their relationship as they bid each other goodbye, losing themselves into each other for one last time before their worlds parted… And yet life had to go on. Raven spent her last two years at Hogwarts, getting over her broken heart by getting into other relationships while Ryan sought to find answers to his past in another country. There was no communication between them and thus what had went on in the past seemed forgotten, a part of youth that was no unfolding to change. Then it was Raven’s turn to leave school and so she did, with a promise of a new life ahead of her and new chapter in her journey: marriage. Then, just as the girl started to look into a new phase of her life, Ryan returned. He was engaged as well and it seemed like their past relationship was meant to be cast out and buried as remnants of youth. Yet, they cannot deny that their feelings for each other weren’t truly extinguished. They carried on, torn between the feelings they held for each other and the life ahead of them, weighing the two.. torn between what is right and easy.. between their hearts and heads… Eventually, decisions were made and they took a risk for the sake of their love. Now here they are, forever bound with love and marriage, starting a new chapter in their lives as one. No longer a separate entity, fully aware of that life isn’t truly done with them yet. Indeed for as long as one lived, challenges are to come. The future had surprises in store, whether pleasant or not and as they had at Hogwarts, adventure lurked in every corner. Yet with the promise of each other, Ryan and Raven had vowed to overcome whatever comes their way. That as long as they stayed together, a happy ending was bound to happen. And thus is the beginning of history. |
