"Aaaaaand saved!" With blurry eyes, Tori leaned back in her chair and stretched her legs out in front of her. Glancing to her left, she looked at the clock on the wall: 2:17am. "Oh god, what a sucky way to spend a Friday night, but at least that damn research paper is done."

A few clicks more, and the computer was powered down, the "No Signal" message flashing on the LCD briefly before she turned that off, too, and pulled herself from the chair.

With a wide yawn, she turned around, took two steps, and promptly faceplanted her bed. "Sleeeeep," she murmured into the mattress, dozing off just a few short minutes later.

---------------

BEEP!

BEEP!

BEEP!

BEEP!

Her alarm clock rang, announcing in the most irritating way that it was already 7am.

Wait... 7am...

"Damnit!" Tori shouted, hitting the alarm clock so hard it tumbled off the desk only to continue it's incessant beeping. She leaned over her bed, trying to reach the clock, and only managed to lose her balance and fall onto the floor, narrowly missing the nightstand in the process.

Finally, strained fingers clenched around the clock, blood-shot eyes glaring at it in fury before launching it across the dorm room, the display shattering into a thousand pieces, silence finally filling the room.

Mouth open as she panted, Tori stared groggily at the new dent in the wall, cursing herself for forgetting to turn off her alarm for the weekend, and she had expelled so much energy already, there was no way she'd be able to fall asleep again.

With a sigh she stood to her feet, glancing at the mirror and groaning as she saw the terrible case of bed head she was currently experiencing. 'Well,' she thought to herself, 'since I'm up, I might as well shower and head over to the Gardens to surprise Sylvia and Isaac with breakfast.'

Isaac loved the fact he could live in two places at once. He found it to be a unique challenge. Living in the Gardens home with his little sister and father and living at the dorms with Tori and the students.

Being able to gate between them helps.

He yawned and stretched, pulling up a picture of his bedroom at school so he could grab his mp3 player from his desk at school before opening a hole in time and space. Quickly sticking his arm through he fumbled around before finding the device in question making sure to grab the headphones and pulled them both through before the gate closed.

Letting the brief dizzy spell that was a side effect of his powers fade he put the headphones in and plopped back down on his bed to start the "sleeping in" part of his weekend routine.

For Isaac Kurai, life wasn't that bad.

Saturday morning at 8am made Arcadia look like a ghost town. No one even tried to stop Tori when she crept out of the dorms and made a beeline to the Hesperides Gardens. She let herself in with the spare key and headed to the kitchen to make breakfast, mixing all the dry ingredients together before heading to the fridge to get the carton of milk.

Concentrating hard on the task at hand, she touched the lip of the measuring cup to the mouth of the carton and began to lift it slowly so as to not spill any on the counter. Of course, the carton was empty, so turning it completely upside down only produced a drop or two.

Tori knew Sylvia was innocent, because she hated milk. And she doubted it was their father, because he preferred his drinks a little stronger. So, it could only be her brother: Isaac.

Today was just not her day.

"That's it!" she snarled, slamming the empty milk carton on the counter and marching straight into her brother's room. She first went to his shades and snapped them up as fast as she could so bright sunlight would fill the room. "ISAAC!" Tori snapped, ripping the blankets off of him, grabbing his shirt with both hands, and lifting him up. She slammed his back against the wall and brought her face a mere inch from his.

"T-TORI!?" Isaac sputtered groggily. "What did I do!?" He yelped, ear buds falling out and mp3 lost to the hungry covers.

This was not his usual morning call. Normally, and it is a point of note that i use that word lightly, the only one barging into his room to drag him out of bed was Emily. Who's sole purpose in doing so was so that he could accompany her in stalking Noah. Tori was something new, and frankly a nice change of pace in his opinion.

Well, aside from being slammed into the wall that is, but then, his sister always was a tad on the headstrong side.

"At least tell me what i did before you yell at me this time!"

He vanished in a flash of light and the dizziness from the short range gate jump to his floor mere feet away, combined with his grogginess at such an abrupt awakening sent him teetering before falling onto his back on the floor.

She had expected him to flee her grip, so her hands went right to her hips as she stomped over to Isaac and stood over him. "How many times do I have to tell you this! If you use up the last of the milk buy more milk! She shouted, glaring down at him with such viciousness that any stranger would be certain she'd cause him some type of bodily harm.

"I got up early so I could come over here and get you breakfast, and this is how you repay me!?" Of course, she had no intention of getting up so early, but it made her sound good. "Ugh! Get up, get dressed, and get more milk."

With that, she marched out of his room, slammed the door, and went back to the kitchen to begin frying up bacon.

After she stormed from the room, Isaac couldn't help but laugh. She really did need to relax. It was only milk right? The boy hauled himself to his feet and slowly began to get dressed.

Managing to get some regular cloths on having fallen over only 3 times, Isaac meandered over to his dresser. It seemed like the average teenage boys, a lonely sock hung out of the top right drawer while the rest sat wide open. He shifted through the pile of trinkets until he found it.

The red digital camera was his favorite of the collection he had stashed in one of the drawers below. It was newer, with a flash focus function and a spiffy standby mode to make starting it up that much easier. Another reason he loved it was because it was a gift from his little sister.

Technically Tori picked it out and gave it to Sylvia to give to him, but that didn't matter to him. It was a gift, and he treasured it.

He fluffed through the pictures for a few minutes before he frowned.

"Don't tell me....Craaaap." Of the many places he had in his camera, the local shop from which they normally got their milk was not there.

"Guess It'll be a double hop then." He got up and stretched until he heard something crack, wincing before a grin spread across his face. He pulled up another picture and in the blink of an eye was on the corner of the local icecream shop. "Now, let's see, which direction was that milk."

Ignoring the surprised bi-standers, he spotted what he was looking for and gate-hopped to the next way point. He did this two more times before getting to where he wanted to go. Though it proved taxing.

Isaac was dizzy and leaned himself against a wall to rest for a moment. But, being impatient as he was, he didn't stay there for long before pouncing upon his prey.

"I'm hooome!" He called after gate-ing into the living room, taking a seat on the couch till his dizzy spell passed.

Tori turned away from the stove, the spatula that she had been holding hovering over the pan as she moved to the living room and snatched the milk from Isaac's hand. Then, a frown appeared on her face. "It's...2%" she sighed, rolling her eyes and glaring at him.

"Maybe waking you up so abruptly wasn't a good idea after all, but I hope I got the point through. Remember, we drink skim milk?" Huffing, Tori walked back to the kitchen, the spatula automatically flipping the pancake from the pan to the plate she had beside the stove.

Pausing briefly to pour more batter into the pan, she went to the cupboard and pulled out three sets of silverware, plates, and cups. "Food'll be ready in about ten minutes, so can you get Sylvia up?" she shouted into the living room. "Make sure she brushes her teeth before she comes down, and don't take too long!"

"Thanks Mom." He said under his breath making sure it would be nearly impossible for her to hear.

With a shrug and a sleepy grin, Isaac nodded leaving the room and heading to wake his little sister. When he got to the door he tapped on it out of courtesy, but knowing his sister quite well, Isaac barged in and leaned over her bed.

"Wakey wakey Sylviaaaa." He chuckled when she rolled over. "oh come on sleepy head! Time to wake up." her only response was to pull the covers up over her head.

Isaac grinned. "So that's how it's gonna be huh?" Without another word, he picked her up and draped her over his shoulder. With his package in tow he headed for the kitchen, Sylvia kicking and struggling the whole way.

"Good morning, Sleepyhead!" Tori greeted Sylvia as she set three spots at the table, filling her sister's glass with orange juice, and the rest with milk. "Breakfast will be ready in just a couple minutes, so open those eyes of yours and take a seat."

The spatula still flipping pancakes behind her, Tori set out butter and syrup as well as a thick stack of napkins. Forks and knives clattered onto the cheap table, and a plate of steaming pancakes was deposited in the center.

It was then that a new pair of feet shuffled into the kitchen.

Half-closed eyes blinking sleepily, clad only in boxers and a dirty night shirt, their father stumbled into the kitchen, obviously suffering from a nasty hangover by the way he winced at the light. "Mmmngh..." he mumbled, shuffling up to the fourth seat at the table and sinking into it.

"Good morning, daddy!" Tori said quietly so as to not interfere with his headache, hugging his shoulders quickly. "Would you like some coffee?"

"Nngh..."

"Okay, I'll make that for you." Pulling the coffee maker out from the cupboard, Tori set to work on brewing a fresh pot, pausing briefly to look at the others. "What are you waiting for? Eat while it's hot!"

Isaac set his little sister down and slowly moved over to take a seat.

"Hi dad." Was all he said, tone soft.

Isaac's relationship with his father was akin to that of a bumpy road, mostly in part because while his father loved him, Isaac got the feeling that he was ashamed, that his son had to work for the Elite just to keep them from poverty and in privilege.

He dragged a pancake on to his plate and poured syrup onto his pancakes and ate them in silence, unsure of what he was supposed to say.

The whole room was awkwardly quiet, the only sounds being that of forks and knives as they cut pancakes, the sound of glasses being picked up and set down, and the scrape of the chair as Tori got up to prepare her father's coffee just the way he liked it.

Noisily sipping his coffee and groaning every time there was a sound too loud, like accidentally dropping a fork on the floor, their father stared straight ahead at the wall. Finally, his cup drained, he pushed his chair away from the table and stood up, refilling his cup and wandering over to the doorway. He stopped and glanced back.

"Why don't you kids play outside today? I think I'm gonna go back to sleep to try to get rid of this, er, headache."

"Sure, daddy," Tori responded quietly, watching him walk away.

When the bedroom door shut, she turned back to Isaac, giving him a look of semi-disappointment. They both knew that he'd be sleeping for the rest of the day, then wake up at night and head to the bar again.

Isaac's chin slowly rose, his eyes meeting Tori's as if to say, "he's getting worse isn't he?" The boy slowly got up and moved to pull Tori closer before engulfing his sisters in an embrace. For a moment he stood like this, and despite Sylvia's protests.

"Isaaaac! My pancakes are getting cold!"

At this a soft chuckle escaped him and he let go.

"Sheesh, can't your brother even give you a hug?" He laughed before grabbing his pancakes and heading to the other room.
