"Shhhh..." Laura whispered, patting and pushing at the soil around the tiny flower. She sat on the steps, a small makeshift flowerpot made of a discarded tissue-box in her lap. In the box was a small, half-wilted daisy.

She'd found it on the rooftop, half-dead from lack of water. That explained the sobbing sounds she'd heard all weekend.

Now she was trying to heal it, nurse it back to health. Odd as that might have sounded to another. She reached beside her, taking the glass of water and carefully dribbling the liquid over it. "I bet you're thirsty," she whispered, smiling soothingly. "And lonely, too...I didn't see any other daisies. But just because you're the only one doesn't mean you have to wither and die..."

"I think the little one just needs a friend, don't you~?" Clara smiled up at Laura while standing on the lower steps. "I planted her and a bunch of others up there a while ago and asked a student to keep an eye on them...I guess she didn't...may I see?" Clara reached out a hand toward the makeshift pot, a soft look on her features.

Clara couldn't talk to plants like Laura did....but she did understand them on another level. Her powers were not about controlling the plants, as most thought, but her suggesting ways for them to grow and move, using her powers to give them the ability to do so. She quite enjoyed tending to plants and helping them bloom to their fullest ability.

The same could be said of her love of her students. Her aim at SIN, other than recruitment, was to help the students she had to grow up strong and capable, blooming to their greatest potential. Laura was no exception.

"- And that's when they launched the paper airplane off the roof. I don't remember much after that... So anyway, that's how I got here! Thanks for listening. Normally people walk away when I talk." The tree, which Jumper had been talking to the entire time, said nothing. Next to a small patch of clovers stood Melody, the said paper airplane with it's tip mashed in lay broken behind her. She waited a little bit for a response then, as if receiving an answer, smiled at the tree and continued with her day. The little brunette looked down at her wrist watch before looking around her new settings. She'd shrunk herself seven minutes ago, five of those minutes spent talking to the tree.

"Three more minutes," She whispered to herself. "Aw man! Now that cat girl is going to think I'm a mouse again if I try going to my room." With a leap in the air, Jumper launched off to the Dorm entrance, a blue streak of light trailing behind her. If you blinked, you might have missed her landing on the hand rail next to Laura and Clara. The plan was to wait out her remaining time there but, she couldn't help but notice the little wilting daisy in a shoe box. It didn't take long for her to put things together.

"Awwww~" Jumper cooed over the scene. It was such a warm feeling, seeing someone doing a good deed. "Do you need more water? More dirt? More sun?! I'm sure I could figure out how to get you more sun."

Laura looked up, started and briefly "leafing" as Clara spoke. She hadn't noticed anyone approaching; her attention had been fixed solely on the little flower. She swallowed, looking from the teacher to the flower a few times. Clara was a teacher, and she had an affinity for plants, but...Do terrorists hurt flowers? Laura wondered, gently stroking the tiny white petals. After a few moments of thought, in which she decided that they probably didn't, as it would accomplish nothing, she nodded, slowly holding the box out with her gaze to the side.

"I--I think it's scared," she whispered. "It doesn't want to die."

The next voice, however, made her sprout a few twigs and tiny branches on her arms--namely because at first glance, she couldn't see anyone. A ghost?! she thought, panicking a bit, but then she noticed the tiny brunette on the stair-railing. "O-Oh my--a Thumbelina?" she squeaked before she could stop herself.

Clara gently took the box with all the care of holding someone's child. "You're right....I'm sorry I left you and your family all alone...I thought I could trust the students to keep you safe...." She focused her energy and closed her eyes, running her hand just over the flower. "Now then....stay strong....we'll find you somewhere nice to grow..."

The wilting flower stood up a bit straighter, more color coming back to its petals. Clara opened her eyes with a smile and, lightly, handed it back to Laura. "There....that should keep it alive for a bit longer...but it'll need someone to care for it. We could move it to the greenhouse here at the school if you want. Hmm?" She looked over at the railing and grinned. "Well hello, Miss Cider~! Running about in mini, are we~?" She stretched her hand to Jumper offering to give her a ride. "Have you been careful to avoid getting stepped on~?"

Melody pouted at Laura's comparison, eyes narrowed. "I'm not a thumbalina." Her temporary mousey voice said otherwise but, unaware of this, she continued. "I'm the same size as you!.. n-normally."

"Well hello, Miss Cider~! Running about in mini, are we~?"

"Hi Ms. Claraaaa!" Jumper waved from the railing with a smile. "Some people wanted to see how far I could go no an airplane! I think a tree got in the way but don't worry. I already apologized. The tree was totally over it before I left." Jumper stumbled backwards as Clara's hand extended down to her. It didn't mater who they belonged to; giant hands still freaked her out. Clara's hand flattened in a welcoming manner and, considering who it belonged to, the little girl stepped onto Clara's outstretched hand, stopping in the middle of her palm.

"Have you been careful to avoid getting stepped on~?"

"I dunno." Jumper shrugged, "I blacked out. How's the plant?" Peeking over her fingers, Melody eyed the daisy, who seemed to have improved thanks to Clara's magic touch. "Is it going to be okay?"

Laura flinched, looking down at the flower again as she took it back. Oh, dear, now she'd offended someone--seemed that if she wasn't being a bother for people, she was offending them. Lovely, just lovely. "I--I'm sorry..."

But the tiny girl, apparently named Melody, didn't seem to mind anymore. Seem to. "Is it going to be okay?"

"Oh, it's..." Laura took a closer look at the flower, a tiny, relieved smile lighting her features when she noticed how much taller it stood, a bit more color coming back. She put one hand behind her ear, a lock of hair moving behind it as well, and shut her eyes to better hear the flower. She smiled a bit wider as she nodded. "It feels...i-it feels m-much better now...s-still a bit tired, b-but it c-can manage a bit l-longer. She slowly stopped smiling, eye flicking up to Clara nervously, half-hidden behind her bangs. "Th-thank you. B-Both."

Clara grinned and moved Jumper closer to the plant. "See for yourself, sweet pea. And it's no trouble, it's my fault for not checking on them more....What are you doing here all by your lonesome, anyway? Where's Aryil? You two are usually stuck together like magnets~!" She tilted her head to one side, looking at the green haired girl curiously.

She knew Laura probably knew of her involvement in the MC but obviously hadn't told. It was odd since the girl was a stickler (pun intended) for the rules. "Ah, I didn't introduce you two~! Melody, this is Laura. She can turn into a tree. Laura, this is Melody~!! She can shrink~!"

Jumper widened her stance as Laura's hand hovered over to the flower. she noticed the sad little daisy was standing a little taller, it's head pointing slightly higher like s person looking at the sky. Melody grinned warmly at the plant. Hope, in any form, was wonderful to see. "Don't worry Daisy. You'll live, I just know it."

"It feels...i-it feels m-much better now...s-still a bit tired, b-but it c-can manage a bit l-longer. Th-thank you. B-Both.""

"You're welcome! ... What did I do?" Melody scratched the back of her head, flopping down in the giant hand to a cross legged position.

"Ah, I didn't introduce you two~! Melody, this is Laura. She can turn into a tree. Laura, this is Melody~!! She can shrink~!"

"...You can turn into a tree?" Jumper was staring at Laura as if someone had told her she was Santa Clause. "That's so ... That's so ... Wow! Hay! Do you know the tree in front of the girls dormitory? Dose he ever mention me? I hope it's good things you hear. I always try to be a good listener but the conversation always seems to eventually center around me." The little brunette had scooted all the way to the edge of Clara's palm, closest to Laura. "If you hug a tree, do they feel the love?"

Luara shook her head in response to Clara's question. "I--'m not sure...'s'my fault; I went to the r-roof to wait for her b-but I found the daisy and couldn't leave it..." She hadn't known exactly what she could do, but she thought it had at least deserved to be moved so the others couldn't stare at it and make it feel embarrassed. "I h-hope she won't be angry..."

She smiled a little at Melody's power--Laura herself would have loved the power to shrink. She could hide from anyone and everyone if she could. She was opening her mouth to say so when she was suddenly bombarded with questions from the tiny girl, squeaking and flinching back as Melody crawled forward. "C-close..."

"If you hug a tree, do they feel the love?"

"U-uhm...y-yes, s-sorta...they feel you hugging them but they don't know why, they're not mind-readers. 's'like people, but...but not quite?" She looked down at the daisy again, leafing a bit more in her nerves as she tried to remember Melody's other questions. "U-Uhm...I d-don't think I've spoken to that one, I just picked some things up from him, I think--h-he did mention a tiny elf a few times, I s-suppose that's you." She flickered her gaze to Melody a moment, blushing faintly. "I--I'm somewhat disappointed, to be honest...I w-was hoping there really was an elf..."

Clara watched the two girls talk with a soft smile. She knew how important it was to make friends, especially at SIN, so you always had someone to watch your back. She saw a lot of herself in Melody, especially back in her younger days. Before the MC. Before Tartarus, even before SIN itself.

"Easy on the questions, hun~! One at a time, otherwise you'll spook her~" The redhead knew full well how easily Laura became startled. Still, hopefully little Jumper could teach Laura and perhaps even Aryil about having a bit of a backbone.

"A... an elf?" at that moment, Melody had a vivid vision of herself with pointed ears, working in a hallowed out tree, baking cookies with other little people in green attire. Just as the image came to her mind, it left with a blink as the sun hit here eyes.

"I'm definitely not one of those. Though, it would be cool to have a hidden hang out spot in the woods... or a rafter... or an empty bottle..." Jumper rubbed her chin for a bit as she contemplated the possibility's. "Anyway. Why don't you ask me a question?" Jumper beamed up at Laura, her feet swinging off of Clara's palm. " Ask me aaaaaaaaaaaanything~"

"A-Ask a--what?" Laura looked like a child who has lost her mother at the grocery store. Why did the not-elf want her to ask a question?

Maybe she really was an elf and this was a fairy-test.

Laura shook that thought off, hugging the box protectively. She wasn't nervous per se, but...well, a bit confused. One normally didn't go up to people and tell them to ask them a question. And even still, Melody had said to ask anything, Laura didn't know what she should even ask. "Uh--I, uhm...." she mumbled, looking down at the daisy, leaves rustling in her hair as she nervously flicked her eyes back to Melody a few times. "Uhuh....a-aren't you s-scared you'll get stepped on?" she whispered at last.

Clara snickered softly. "I'm curious about that as well. I know you don't like being picked up without your permission~" She held Jumper as steadily as she could, smiling. "Ah, though I have to get going. Now that I think of it, I have some paperwork to do."

Gently, she moved her hand back toward the rail so it would be easier for Jumper to stand on there. "This was nice, though~ And Laura, please do pay the school greenhouse a visit some time~"
