Taking the pill from the nurse's hand, Anya paused before answering, attempting to come up with the proper way to describe her prior predicament.

She still had yet to pay back those two delinquents for daring to harm a cat, and would have to be sure to see through with their punishment later.

"I... jumped into a fountain," she concluded, brushing her fingers over the claw marks on her cheek.

Aryil nodded a little in response to Ricardo's thanks, gaze flicking over toward the bottles he was retrieving from it. Pills? One of them had to be--she could hear the tell-tale rattle. The other only looked vaguely familiar, but she couldn't place it off the top of her head. She was only thankful that Ricardo hadn't asked for her to get a specific medicine--she never would have picked it out! All the bottles sort of looked the same to her...

She listened as Ricardo asked Anya how she'd gotten wet, perking up again when the man addressed her once more. "A-ah, of course!" she said, hurrying over to do just that. (At least she wasn't too short for the dispenser? Aryil had to thank that tiny blessing.)

She came back just as Anya mentioned that she'd jumped into a fountain, noticing the claw marks when Anya brushed her fingers over her cheek. Despite herself, Aryil spoke up. "A-ah, Miss Anya, are you all right? That looks like it'd have hurt..."

And then she squeaked, mortified. Oh, it wasn't any of her business, who was she to butt into stuff like that? She looked down, fidgeting with her skirt, mumbling something along the lines of "s-sorry, I shouldn't be nosy..."

"Not at all," Anya smiled, slightly bowing to the smaller girl from her sitting position.

Her eyes then momentarily fixated on Aryil. The blonde's timid-behavior was reminiscent of the stray from earlier, and the redhead found her temperature rising even further from her introspective comparison.

She gave her head a quick shake upon realization that she was staring, and reached over to pick up the cup of water from Aryil's fidgeting hands. In one quick motion she downed the pill she was given, cringing at the bitter taste.

Rising from her bed once more, Anya turned and bowed to both Ayril and Ricardo. "Thank you both for your care, but I really must return to work."

It was not that she hadn't heard the nurse's assessment, rather she simply did not want to waste her time in recovery. She wanted to be outside, certain that there were jobs just waiting to be done.

It didn't matter how hot her head felt, nor how badly her vision was starting to blur. In fact, the whole room itself seemed to be spinning for some reason...

Ricardo observed the girls' interaction without interrupting, and prepared a spoonful of cough syrup in silence. Hmm. Few words exchanged between the little lady and headstrong Ms. Mori, but volumes told in implication. Seemed like Aryil and Anya had forged quite the first impressions.

"Thank you both for your care, but I really must return to work."

Ah. He'd expected that. With spoon still balanced in his prosthetic hand, Ricardo watched his patient take her first few steps towards the curtain.

"I would strongly advise against leaving, Ms. Mori." His voice was gentle but firm. "You won't make it to the end of the hall before collapsing again. I can't stop you from walking, but when you're hauled back up here by another Good Samaritan, you'll feel very, very silly."

He approached her by the curtain and lifted the spoon with a smile. "Besides, you haven't taken your cough medicine."

Before she could object, Anya felt her knees give way as her vision quickly met with that of the floor. Her hands shot out, just in time to prevent her nose from making contact with the furnished wood below.

Was she this sick earlier?

Breathing heavily, she pulled herself off the floor and with some effort directed her glazed eyes towards Ricardo.

"Perhaps, I do require a bit of rest," she compromised, surprisingly short of breath. "...Just a bit."

"...Just a bit."

Ricardo urged her back into bed for the second time in an hour. Tsk, so much bravado for such a young woman. Pride might've been an asset for a girl in Anya's position, but so long as she was under his care, she'd have to leave her ego at the door.

"Don't lie down just yet, Anya." He offered her the spoon, careful not to release it until her hand stopped trembling. "I'll need you to swallow this. It does taste pretty vile, but it works miracles on a sore throat."

With that, he straightened up and packed the bottles back into the box. "Aryil?" A smile over his shoulder in her direction. "A damp towel for her brow, please, and the manila folder with today's date on it from my desk."

Oh oh, the girl said it was okay, but she was STARING! Aryil felt her insides twist and turn, though she managed a slight nod. She tensed up when Anya insisted on leaving, making a tiny noise of shock when Anya collapsed, kneeling next to the older girl and struggling to help her back up--but she wasn't strong enough to do so and Anya had managed to get up on her own anyways.

Uuu, she wasn't good at this at all...

She jumped a little when Ricardo addressed her, before nodding, heading over to the counters again. Towels, towels--oh, there they were! Wetting it and then wringing the excess water out, Aryil nodded to herself before heading over to the man's desk. He said he was looking for a folder--

There it is!

--and she grabbed it with ease. Well, at least this stuff was easy...

Mission accomplished, Aryil hurried back over, glancing between Ricardo and Anya. From experience, she knew that you put towels on someone's head when they were laying down--and Anya wasn't laying down yet. She'd just have to wait...

Lifting the spoon to her mouth, Anya winced as she felt the bitter syrup slime its way down her throat.

Her head had calmed down a bit, and turning herself she dropped flat onto the bed like a stone.

"You have a very handy assistant," she said, admiring the amount of effort Ayril had been putting into her work during the entire time, since she had made her appearance.

Ricardo collected the spoon with a small smile in Aryil's direction. "The little lady's a blessing," he said, and collected the folder from his petite assistant. "I'll need to make a small note of your visit, Anya. There'll be a few questions you'll need to answer, but in the meantime..."

He tucked the folder under his arm and jerked his false thumb in the general direction of his desk.

"You two get acquainted, now. I'll be back in a moment."

With that, Ricardo pushed past the curtain and dropped into his office chair. Rolling it back towards his desk with folder in-hand, he wondered if leaving the girls alone would yield any favourable results. He'd be lying to say he didn't hope Aryil would find a friend in Ms. Mori.

Aryil found herself blushing horribly at both Ricardo and Anya's compliments, managing a tiny "i-it's n-nothing, really!" and rooting her gaze to the floor. Uu, they were really nice--but it was so embarrassing! She barely heard what Ricardo was saying about getting acquainted, too busy being embarrassed.

Then she realized she was still holding the towel. Ahhh, she was slacking again!

Timidly, the girl shuffled forward, carefully placing the damp towel on Anya's forehead. "That should h-help a bit..." she mumbled, gaze flicking over toward the claw marks again. Anya had mentioned something about jumping into a fountain, right?

"...um! Is the kitty o-okay?" she asked--then bit back a squeak, oh that was too forward! "I-I mean, the scratch marks l-look kinda fresh so I just assumed..." she added, tripping over her words. Dumb, so dumb! She really needed to stop rambling like that.

At Aryil's question, Anya looked at the smaller girl with mouth slightly ajar in surprise. It was rare for her to find someone else that shared an interest in the wellbeing of a cat.

Catching herself, the redhead managed a small nod from her resting position. "She will be just fine," she said, a hint of satisfaction in her voice.

"...Do you like cats? Miss..." Anya's voice trailed off, realizing she had yet to know the name of her smaller companion. Green eyes managing to find brown eyes, she introduced herself.

"Ah, please forgive my rude behaviour. My name is Anya Mori. May I ask who you are?"

Oh, oh she wasn't upset! Yay! Maybe it was the talk of animals, but the girl relaxed somewhat, not quite as shifty as before.

"I-I'm Aryil! Aryil Caeren. A-and yes! I like cats and dogs and birds--budgies are my favorite!--and hamsters and gerbils and mice and lotsa other stuff!" For the second time that she'd been there, the tiny girl smiled in earnest, nodding eagerly. "Oh and sometimes I get to play with the strays and I found a hurt bird and nursed it back to health--'cause I can heal people and animals too but animals take longer--and I tried to keep it for a while but I had to let it go and--"

Another squeak, another bout of blushing. Oh, she'd just rambled like an idiot again! This time she'd managed to not look at the floor, instead coughing and clearing her throat.

"A-ah. Um! Sorry, Miss Anya. I just really like animals..."

It was annoying, right? No one wanted to hear her gushing about things except Laura. And Anya seemed so cool and collected! She must have sounded so silly compared to the redhead.

Throughout Aryil's entire session of rambling, Anya listened with great interest. Her eyes widened larger by the second with fascination as the younger girl went down her extensive list of animals.

By the time she was finished, Anya found that she had unconsciously sat herself upright, her temperature risen dramatically once again.

"You truly are an amazing person, Ms. Caeren." She said, dropping back onto the bed to find the familiar face of the ceiling staring back at her.

"Perhaps if you are a not busy in the future, may I trouble you in accompanying me to some local pet stores within the city?"

Oh, a-ah, she was staring with really wide eyes, had she said something wrong? Aryil had to steel herself from taking a timid step backward, slightly worried at how flushed Anya looked again. But before she could ask, the redhead spoke up, complimenting her once more. It prompted yet another squeak and a tiny "me? o-oh, no, it's nothing, r-really--" as she averted her gaze a little.

No, stupid, stupid! That was the wrong way to respond!

"--but t-thank you."

There. Better. Just a bit.

"Perhaps if you are a not busy in the future, may I trouble you in accompanying me to some local pet stores within the city?"

Aryil's eyes lit up, the girl gasping a little. Her, being invited somewhere? She almost couldn't believe it. "Oh! Oh, I'd love to!" she was smiling again--a bright, cheery smile, something she hadn't done at SIN in quite a long time--and nodding. Ooh, she couldn't wait to tell Laura about it! Maybe Laura could come too...

This was embarrassing.

Laura shuffled towards the nurse's office, squeezing the ring finger on her left hand. She'd just been minding her own business, reading a book, and then shwip! She'd lifted a few pages to check ahead for something and the edge of that group had given her a paper-cut. She knew paper-cuts were harmless, but it hurt. Perhaps the nurse had something to take the stinging pain away.

She reached the door, biting her lip for a moment before knocking timidly--maybe he was too busy. "H-hello? Nurse?" she called weakly.
