Ricardo had just returned to his desk when a female voice sounded from the opposite side of the door. "One minute," he called back, leaving the folder on the desktop and dismounting his precious swivelling chair. "I'll be right with you." When Ricardo moved to open the door, he'd been expecting another young woman about Aryil's height and build. What he saw was... far removed... from the image he'd spun from her voice. What a tall girl. He glanced her over and nodded at the sight of her finger. Must've cut herself. At least it was still attached. "Come on in." He stepped aside to give her room and smiled. "I'm getting a lot of young women in here today. What do you need? Looks like you hurt your hand." |

Oh. Oh dear. There were more people in the room than she'd expected--she didn't look long enough to see who exactly they were, just long enough to notice the numbers...Admittedly, there weren't many people there, but it was still more than she expected, and she'd been so hoping that no one would be there to see her coming in with such a trivial problem... She looked at her feet, tiny branches sprouting from her shoulders and leaves popping up in her hair as she squeezed her own finger a bit more, shuffling her feet but refusing to come inside. "I--I j-just...I-just-wanted-something-to-get-the-sting-out-of-the-paper-cut-I'm-sorry-to-trouble-you-Nurse!" she squeaked, flinching and speaking faster and faster at each word. Oh dear, she was an awful nuisance now, was she? "I--I didn't expect you t-to have th-this many p-people!" |

Well, that was new. Ricardo did his best to avoid staring at the branches that protruded from the girl's flesh. Wouldn't do to make the patient feel any more self-conscious than she already did, particularly if nerves were conducive to... flowering. He waved off her concerns and nodded at her hand. "New patients are always welcome, no matter the size of the injury. This wouldn't be much of a nurse's office otheriwse, hm~?" He stepped back to give the girl room to enter. "You don't have to stay out there. Sit down anywhere you like and we'll see what I can do for numbing gel." Was Aryil finished with Miss Mori? Not that he needed her present, but it'd be nice to introduce her to someone so... similar in temperament. The tall girl's nerves reminded him of Aryil's. Perhaps they'd get on well: Birds of a feather flock together and all. |

Aryil had been so busy envisioning the different pet stores she and Anya would be visiting to realize they had a new visitor, but the incredibly familiar sound of new twigs and leaves forming jolted Aryil out of her silly daydreams, the tiny girl whirling around as Laura hastily apologized and Ricardo attempted to reassure her. Beaming, the blonde rushed over to the door. "Ahhh, Lala!" she greeted, cheerily hugging her much taller friend. "When did you get here, ahhh, I'm sorry I didn't say hi sooner! But Mister Ricardo's right, you'll be okay in here! He helped me out and I'm not even hurt!" she seized Laura's hands, gently squeezing them and smiling up at the taller girl. "Come on, come on!" she insisted, dragging the girl in and leading her to a chair. She noted the papercut after a moment, tilting her head. "Oh! Ahh, that must hurt...hey, you want me to heal it or do you want a band-aid? Your choice!" It appeared Aryil wasn't taking no for an answer--and that she'd gotten pretty comfortable in her surroundings, considering how upbeat she was. |

Numbing gel? That really existed? Laura had just opened her mouth to ask just that when-- "Ahhh, Lala!" "A-Arry?" Laura squeaked again as she was suddenly hugged. What was Aryil doing here? She could heal, she didn't need to see the nurse for anything...Oh. Oh no, was she hiding out in here? Did the bullies come after her again? At least she retreated...instead of try to fight back or backtalk, Laura thought sadly, nodding her head as she sank into the chair she'd been lead to. "I...I suppose i-it'd be best to get healed...right? I-If you want to, that is." It would be strange to walk around with a band-aid over such a minor injury...but it was just that. A minor injury. A waste of Aryil's powers, right? "If you d-don't think i-it'd be...b-be too much trouble," she mumbled again, keeping her head low, stealing tiny, fleeting looks at the other people in the room. |

Aryil pouted. "It's not any trouble, you shouldn't think like that!" she scolded, taking Laura's hand in her own. It started slowly at first--and then almost instantly, the small cut was good as new, the pain receding until it was completely gone. "See? I like helping, it's never too much for me!" Another gentle hand squeeze and a softer smile before she let go, cheeks tinted slightly pink. "Oh! That's Mister Ricardo, he's the nurse. He's gonna let me be his assistant!" She blinked, before her eyes lit up. "Oh! Lala, maybe you can help out sometimes too!" And then she blushed, looking down. "A-ah, if Mister Ricardo says it's okay, anyways..." Stupid, stupid! She was getting way ahead of herself now! |

Laura couldn't help smile a tiny bit as the pain dulled, then vanished with her cut. She'd kept her eyes on it--she always liked how it looked when Aryil healed people. Like rewinding time, but not all gross or anything. She looked up to see Aryil's blush, hear her point out the nurse. "H-He's..?" Laura squeaked. She hadn't been to the nurse's before now--normally she just went to Aryil for help if she needed it--so she had no idea-- "I--I'm sorry for coming with something so small, sir!" she squeaked again, ducking her head. "A-And thank you for giving Ary something to do--b-but I couldn't possibly, I--" She was getting a tad dizzy now, not having any idea who she should be talking to, Aryil or Ricardo. And was she supposed to call him that? it was a first name, that was kinda...forward? And she hadn't eve said a word to the other person there--which was just rude... "Oh, I'm sorryyyyy..." |

Ricardo stepped back the moment Aryil came forth to pounce this 'Lala'. Ah, so his instincts proved correct~ He had a feeling these girls were compatible. "Oh! That's Mr. Ricardo, he's the nurse. He's gonna let me be his assistant!" "That I am." He turned to Lala (was that her real name?) with a smile. "Aryil's useful to have around, and very pleasant company~ You're lucky to have such a kind-hearted friend." "Oh! Lala, maybe you can help out sometimes too! A-Ah, if Mister Ricardo says it's okay, anyways..." "I don't see why not." He crossed the floor to retrieve his thermos and sip. "You kids are a rowdy bunch. I hate to admit it, but some days t's a little too crowded in here for me to handle alone. I could use two extra pairs of hands." Ricardo hesitated. Didn't want to sound as though he were guilt-tripping the girls into lending their assistance... "It's your choice, of course. I'll manage without if you can't come in, Miss Lala." A welcoming nod for the tree-girl's benefit. "I'm sorry, but is that your given name? It sounds like a sobriquet." |

Uuu, and now Aryil felt bad for putting Laura on the spot! She blushed furiously, shifting uncomfortably and feeling a rather substantial stab of guilt when her friend ducked her head, looking more and more confused by the second. Nervously, Aryil reached over to pat her friend's head, unconsciously letting out a sigh of relief when Ricardo spoke up and said it'd be okay. Stupid, stupid! She seriously was such a blabbermouth! The girl blushed even more when Ricardo asked if Lala was her actual name, laughing nervously. "A-ah, no no! Lala is--I-I mean, her real name is Laura..." she explained. "Lala--a-ah, um, Laura and me have been friends since we were kids! Lala's just...a nickname..." And now she felt horribly lame. She was 14! Too old to keep calling her friend by such a childish nickname, right? Ricardo and A-- --oh no, Anya! She'd just ran off and had stopped keeping an eye on Anya! With a tiny squeak and a "a-ah, I should check up o-on her!" of panic, Aryil rushed back over to Anya's bedside, still horribly flustered. Gingerly, the blonde placed a hand to Anya's forehead. "A-ah, Miss Anya, are you starting to feel a little better...?" she asked, careful to keep her voice quiet. |

During Aryil's little exchange with the newcomer and Ricardo, Anya had managed to doze off for a moment, only to be be wakened by the touch of a small hand upon her head. Her temperature had cooled down slightly, and opening a weary eye she could see the small blonde's worried figure at the side of her bed. "Ms. Caeren," she said, rising steadily into a sitting position. "I am feeling much better, thank you." Green eyes then fell upon matching green hair as the redhead noticed the new presence in the room. "A friend of yours, Ms. Caeren?" |

Laura had no idea what ___ even meant, but it didn't sound very good. Or maybe it had something to do with barbecues. But why would her nickname remind the nurse of a barbecue? That didn't make any sense... She ducked her head, nodding a little as she gradually sprouted more leaves, face flushing a red-brown. "Y-yeah--my name's L-Laura...A-Arry an' I kn-knew each other as little kids, s-so...and she couldn't s-say 'Laura' right b-back then b-but i-it just stuck, and--" She stopped herself, flushing brighter, face hotter. Oh, he didn't need to know that. And Aryil didn't need her to divulge information from their childhoods, even if it was something simple and not too embarrassing. Or was it embarrassing? Ohhhh... "...Miss Caeren?" "Huh?" Even though she wasn't a Caeren, Laura couldn't help turn her attention the redhead, squeaking again and sprouting further, tiny branches on her legs and shoulders. "O-Oh, I'm s-sorry, did I di-disturb you? I didn't mean to, honest!" |

Between Aryil and Laura, Ricardo wasn't sure who was giving off more body heat. Poor girls-- maybe he shouldn't have brought up assistance soon soon in their acquaintanceship. "... could say 'Laura' right back then but it just stuck, and--" There she went, flushing like a strawberry. Ricardo would've smiled if it didn't run the risk of offending her. Careful not to betray his amusement, he acknowledged her story with a nod. "I should've guessed you were long-time friends. Pleased to meet you, Laura." He forewent a handshake out of deference for her nerves. "Anyway, you don't need to decide now. Think on it for as long as you like, and if you're interested in lending a hand, let me know. The offer will always stand." "...Miss Caeren?" Ricardo blinked, turned in the voice's direction. Looked like Aryil had forgotten to draw the curtain separating the bed from the rest of the room. "Glad to see you up, Ms. Mori." He couldn't let her go until she filled out a couple documents, but it wouldn't hurt to have her mingle. |

Oh whew. It would have been awful if Anya had somehow managed to get worse! That'd be an awful first impression with Ricardo, that much she was sure of. The blonde squeaked a little when Anya sat up--oh, wasn't that bad?--and offered the older girl a tiny smile when the girl noticed Laura. Of course, Aryil then flinched when Laura started panicking and apologizing, laughing nervously and looking over her shoulder. "Lala, it's fine..." she assured, giving the taller girl a warm smile. Looking back to Anya, the tiny blonde nodded. "La..." a tiny pause, Aryil trying to kick the habit for a moment, "Laura's my best friend." Aryil's eyes then lit up and the girl clapped a bit, looking over her shoulder once more. "Lala, this is Miss Anya! She loves animals just like I do! She's really nice, you can say hi if you want!" she encouraged, beaming now. |

Anya nodded, eyes not breaking an inch from the green-haired girl in front. She was so tall, yet so... timid. Furthermore, were those branches growing out of her body? Such an interesting person... "Ms. Laura," she said at last, bowing as much as she could from her position. "It is a pleasure to meet you." |

"I-Is it?" Laura squeaked again, even more leaves sprouting off her, a few of them detaching and fluttering to the floor. She kept avoiding eye-contact, instead wringing hr hands and scuffing her shoes against the ground, mumbling something about it being nice to meet you too and oh dear I'm sorry to bother you anyway I bet you need rest not visitors. She backed up a little bit, suddenly squeaking again as one of the branches on her shoulders knocked against a jar of tongue depressors. Oh. Oh dear. "I...I better stay still," she mumbled, flushing again. "I--i might b-break something..." Eyes on her shoes, she stood still as if she really were a tree, silently cursing herself for staying longer than she probably should have--even if Arry and Ricardo did say it was alright. |
