He had to admit, the moving guys the Elite hired to move him out of the dorms and into the Hesperides Garden apartment were probably a bit overkill. The bed and desk were SIN's, so all he really had to move were some clothes, kitchen, and bathroom stuff. He decided to let them deal with the kitchen and clothes stuff, while he grabbed his toiletries and actual valuables like his laptop and bow and quiver. The movers hadn't exactly been quiet, talking and joking amongst themselves as they'd gone about their business. Likely the whole floor knew there was a new person moving in by now. The apartment was low on the building on a corner. Most would have wished for a higher level for the view, but it overlooked a lower building which would be perfect for jumping to, and being lower kept the other jumps he'd scouted closer. He noted, a bit amused, where his priorities were. The place was expansive, but that was compared to the dorm room whence he came. A broom cupboard would have been expansive compared to that place. Nathaniel stood outside his apartment, having just tipped the movers for their troubles - which they seemed surprised by. They were currently boisterously vacating the vicinity toward the elevators. The silver-eyed Elite (a title he was still getting a bit used to) picked up the box and realized too late that he should have grabbed his keys before doing so. He started a slightly awkward dance of trying to get at them while he still held the box, but eventually gave up and propped the box against the door and his hip so he could do a proper search. He hadn't locked himself out of his apartment already, had he? Well, he supposed if he needed to he could look under the crack in the doorway to find some shadow inside to jump to. For now, though, he'd keep fumbling for his keys. Edited by kaku, Jan 31 2012, 10:55 PM.

Mai hummed as she hopped down the stairs two at a time, her empty basket swinging from one arm, and her school books tucked under the other. That was one successful study session under her belt, hopefully she would be more than ready once the exams finally rolled in, it never hurt to be prepared. Super outrageously prepared. Secretly, she was bored. Her attempts to find the MC were so far fruitless - even if she hadn't been really trying, her empty room on campus was beginning to depress her and home... Well, she didn't want to think about it. As she rounded the corner, looking for the next flight of steps, she spotted a boy about her age juggling a large box while simultaneously fumbling in his pockets. She stopped, hands behind her back, clutching her things. It may have looked horribly pretentious to passersby, but it was a rather annoying habit by now. "Um, can I help you...?" She started cautiously, eying the boy's dark choice of clothing doubtfully. What if he was one of those thugs she'd heard about...? He was wearing an Elite armband so who knew how he'd behave. Still, she was good at running, and it never hurt to ask. |

Nathaniel had seen Mai stop to ponder his situation, and his first impression of her was 'prim and proper.' She stood, looking a bit apprehensive to him, but he was pretty sure it was due to the Elite arm band than anything else. He still wasn't really sure how he felt about that. On one hand, he was really proud to have it on, but on the other it just seemed to make people assume things about him. Sometimes the assumptions helped him, but others it was just kind of a pain. He never really thought he was a bad guy, just a driven one. He shook his head, though more at the fact that he'd checked his pockets as well as he could than in reply to Mai's question. He finally looked at her and shrugged, "Lost my key." He fumbled around some more in his pockets, adjusting the box here and there before he gave up for a minute to look back at the girl once more. "I'm Nathaniel. You live here too?" |

Well, since he had bothered to actually say hello... he couldn't be all that bad. "I'm Mai Suzuki." Mai held out her arms and smiled, taking the box from him - oof that was heavier than she'd thought! - so that he could look for his keys properly. "I live in this area, was just visiting a friend. The landlord downstairs should have a spare if you can't find it." |

Nathaniel looked at her and nodded. "Pleasure." When the girl took the box from him, he gave a twitch of a smile her direction before nodding at her comment. He'd assumed as much, but didn't want to give up just yet. He paused his personal pat down and stared at the door as though it would tell him its secrets. He was going over the last few minutes, trying to figure out where he'd put his key. He had it when...then there was...he'd let the guys in....then set it. Aha! It'd been on a box by the door before he'd moved it. He ducked down and looked under the doorway, seeing the shiny edge of the new key. "There you are!" He tried to slip his hand underneath the door, but the space was too small for him to even get a finger all the way through. He sighed and glanced up at Mai, noticing a few of his arrows were sticking out of the box. "Hand me an arrow?" He said, raising his hand up to her, still basically lying flat on the ground and peeking through the slit to make sure the key hadn't sprouted legs and wandered off. |

Mai's eyes widened perceptibly as she noticed the arrows sticking out of the top of the box, and suddenly wondered what it would feel like to have one piercing her gut. She tapped a finger over the edge, noticing it wasn't particularly sharp... and quickly passed it to him before her thoughts could wander any further. She stood there a little awkwardly, shifting the box uncomfortably against her hip and trying to straighten her skirt out at the same time out of habit. Oh dear, she hoped she hadn't made things difficult... he seemed like the stoic type which meant he probably wasn't going to throw her a line. |

Nathaniel was looking at Mai with a tiny amused smile as she poked at his arrows, long used to various different reactions people got when they saw them up close. "It's Force, not sharpness, that drives them home." He said, gently pulling the arrow from her grasp. He waved his other hand at her as he moved back in position at the bottom of the door. "Set it down if you want, 'less you like lifting weights." He turned his attention back to the door and slipped the arrow underneath, wiggling it back and forth in an effort to get to the key. He grazed by it a couple of times, causing it to flop around a bit like a dying fish, but for the moment wasn't having a whole lot of luck. Edited by kaku, Feb 4 2012, 02:44 AM.

Mai shuddered, that was even worse. Seeing as Nathaniel didn't seem to be having much luck, she set down the box and crouched down beside him, using another of the arrows. Maybe it was because her hands were smaller, and could fit under the door further, but she soon had it out, and passed it to him. Smiling awkwardly, she asked if he'd need anything else. "I understand it must just be moving in, is there anything I can help you with...?" He seemed nice enough, so she didn't feel bad about sticking around. He was also kind of cute, she thought with a faint blush. |

Nathaniel nodded his thanks to Mai when she placed the key in his hand. He moved over to pick up the box as she asked her question. He quirked his head in a sort of shrug. "Won't say no to some help. Kitchen stuff? Always a pain to unpack alone. I'll spare you dealing with my underwear box." He quirked a smile at her as he slipped the key in the door and shoved it open with his foot. He propped it open with is foot and gesturing her inside ahead of him. |

Mai blushed when he mentioned his underwear box, oh riiiight, boys, undies, everywhere. Well she'd just have to be extra careful then, he could hardly be worse than Kana. Surprisingly - or unsurprisingly given his neat appearance - everything in the boxes was neatly labeled and stacked, nothing was broken despite all the moving around, and she had little trouble unpacking his utensils. For now, she put things away in their logical place (glasses above the sink, plates below, ect) and left more specific items out on the bench until she could ask what he wanted to do with them. |

They'd quickly figured out that the kitchen was a bit too small for both of them to be working, so Nathaniel started doing things for the living area. Most of the stuff he had was typical dorm-room stuff - a cheap floor standing lamp, some plastic boxes turned into bookshelves, and so on. He had set up the lamp and was working on getting the 'bookshelves' aligned on one wall. "I don't remember seeing you at school." He said, feeling like he should make some sort of conversation despite not feeling at all awkward by the silence. "What year are you in?" |

"Oh I'm... in year six. I'm sixteen." Mai had to stand on her toes to reach the top shelf, where she put away some of the larger dishes that he wasn't likely to use all that often. "And I usually keep to myself." So far she wasn't having that much difficulty blocking out the information feed from his belongings, probably because most of them seemed to be brand spanking new and had little history to speak of. A few pieces seemed to echo in her mind when she held them, and occasionally she caught a flicker of something, but nothing too strong. Good, maybe she wouldn't humiliate herself this time... |

The well-used baking tray Mai was about to pick up was one that Nathaniel had bought a while ago, but had a very strong memory of him walking home and getting jumped - using it as an impromptu weapon to fend off his attackers. The details were a little fuzzy to Nathaniel, but maybe the tray remembered more than he did. Nathaniel nodded to Mai's statement. "I did the same. Just studied up and tried to ace my classes, then did my best to stand out a bit to the Elite recruiters." He didn't mention that a couple of those "standing out" moments had been taking on groups of kids who had decided they were going to do their own impressing of the Elite recruiters - by picking on him. It had never ended well for the other kids, and showed the Elite he knew how to keep a cool head and handle himself (at least against pubescent teenagers who sometimes tended to have more brawn than brain), something much more important than bravado and gang mentality. "So are you in Mr. Matherson's class? Math?" |

The baking tray was in her hands as Mai paused to listen to Nathaniel, unconsciously tracing the edges with her fingers. "Maths? Ah, yes I-" Mai frowned, there was a strange humming coming from the tray, and she tightened her grip on it without thinking. She really needed to learn how to control these readings. A vibrating, like it had been struck. For the first time she noticed the suspicious dents here and there, which had clearly been hammered out in places. The realisation hit her with the force of a brick. She dropped the tray. The loud bang brought her to her senses. "A-ah, I'm sorry. Clumsy me, ahaha." She knocked on her head with a fist - a quirk she must have seen Corinne do a thousand times. But she was shaking as she retrieved the tray and pushed it into place as gingerly as though it had been dropped in a fire. Nathaniel had attacked someone. With a tray. What kind of psychopath did something like that? She had to get out of here, it was her own stupid fault for entering the home of someone she barely knew. He was Elite, she shouldn't have been surprised. "W-what were we talking about?" |

Lennox was walking down the hall, his distinct heavy, plodding step sounding his arrival. He had just gotten off the job and was looking forward to some home cooked dinner when he saw an open door in the hall, only a few doors away from his own apartment with a few boxes near it, one of them having a few arrows sticking out. New tenant, and based off the weapon present, an Elite. Lennox noted to see the new blood later, but now he decided to just go home to his plants. The loud Clang however made him rethink. He could tell that it was from something dropped quickly, in surprise and shock, and that it came from the open room. Not really thinking Lennox's footsteps became louder and faster. When he ran into the room however, he found that his rushing was unwarranted, it appeared that a silver eyed Elite along with another dark blonde girl were just unpacking. "Oh sorry", he quickly apologized, seeing that it had been a simple slip, "just got off work, afraid I’m still a bit on edge." His white cloak finally settled, the Elite armband around his muscled arm standing out along with the medals on his chest. "Well, now that I’m here, do you need any help?" He adjusted his medals, a nervous habit he had developed. He figured if he had intruded he might as well be helpful. Edited by Sketchy Guy, Mar 22 2012, 08:54 PM.
