(Set after Minos but before Angela is captured) "Sir...?" Questioned Emily, as she tied her hair into a neat ponytail with her new red ribbon, "Are you sure you want my help? I am...not very gifted in the culinary arts..." Her failed attempt to bake him a cake had proved that. Still, she stood in Arco's kitchen wearing a crisp white apron over one of her more comfortable, less expensive dresses. She wouldn't mind if this one got a bit dirty. She had gotten out of the hospital the other day with a clean bill of health, though she was to avoid straining herself if possible for a few more weeks. She didn't mind that much, especially since it meant she had a bit more free time to spend with her employer. He had insisted on the two of them cooking something to celebrate and she could only agree. After all, he had been so excited when he came up with the idea, even she didn't have the heart to turn him down. |

"Well, then we shall make you a bit more gifted, my dear, simple as that~!" Was Arco's cheerful reply as he rolled up his sleeves. Today he was wearing a simpler get up than usual, a mere button-up shirt without the waistcoat and cravat. Besides this, he also wore an apron with the words "Hell's Cook" on it and a chef's hat over his head. Today he was covered in shades of red, which raised the question if he had aprons and chef hats of all the other colors. Arco's kitchen was surprisingly well equipped, and very neatly kept. The fact that cooking was a very appreciated hobby of Wiseman Sigma wasn't widely known, it was something he would rather keep it private. Not because of what people might think, of course not, but because, well, anyone needed a form of escape. Something only his, that he could go back to after a day of work and take pleasure in it. Emily was one of the very few people to whom Arco had shared his little passion. Since she as his assistant, it is only natural that she knows of his hobbys, likes, dislikes, etc. That way he could ask for her help when he needed some igredients that were missing for a recipe he wanted to try and he wouldn't have to come up with excuses. And besides, teaching her sounded like it would make for a colorful afternoon. "Now..!" The Warden beamed as he clapped his hands together. "Since you tried once to bake me a cake - points for the thought, dear - I think it would be just right if we baked one properly." If she got a mocking undertone in his voice from that, it wasn't completely intentional. |

Emily twitched slightly at the mention of the catastrophe that was her attempt to make Arco a birthday cake. She blushed a bit and looked away. "If you insist, sir. I will do my best." She would not fail this time, especially not with him helping her. This cake would be perfect, there would be no exceptions. The girl looked back at the taller man, unusually eager to begin and to prove herself. "What kind of cake are we making? And what can I do to help?" She was a bit excited and, though she didn't want to admit it, happy to be doing this. Though she was unwilling to embarrass herself...perhaps it was worth it a little bit to spend time with someone who was important to her. Cooking with the wise man made her feel a bit domestic and...well, normal. She wondered if Noah would want her back if she proved she could be a good house maker and cook. Or maybe....a life like this...with the person she was with now would be more suitable...she shook her head lightly. Now was not the time for such thoughts. |

Arco grinned, it was good that Emily seemed eager ot help. She had been even more diligent with her duties than usual since she got out of hospital. Even spending time with her now was a good way to ensure her loyalty and to know her better, which could prove useful in the long run. "Well, I particularly like chocolate, so we'll be making a Devil's Food Cake." He said as he picked up a big, hard-cover cook book from the counter, flipped through it and showed her the page with said cake, patting the picture with his finger. "It's an airy, moist and rich chocolate layer cake~." He handed her the book while he turned and crouched, opening the small cabinet under the counter. "Be a dear and grab the ingredients listed in the book. You can get them in the fridge and in the pantry~." |

Emily took the cookbook with a serious nod, then went to gather the ingredients listed. First stop was the refrigerator. She pulled out the eggs, milk, and butter, then placed them on the counter. Next came the pantry. Luckily, everything she needed was near the front. Flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and vanilla extract. She also measured a bit of water to finish off the ingredients. She then measured out everything she needed for the cakes, taking her time to get the amounts precisely accurate to the measurements in the book. With that finished, she turned back to Arco. "What next, sir? |

When Emily returned with the ingredients, Arco had all the pans and appliances needed for the recipe ready on the the other side of the counter. She grinned at her, clasping his hands together. "Ah, everything needed just at the rights amounts. Good job, my dear~" He beamed as he looked at the book, his index finger moving over the instruction slowly as he hummed a little melody. Afterwards, he placed the book on the counter, turning towards the pans and appliances. "First we preheat a rack at 350 ºF..." With that he picked said rack and placed it in the middle of the top model oven on the back of the kitchen, facing the counter. With a smile, the colorful man then picked two 9-inch round cake pans, placing one in front of himself and another in front of Emily. "Now, Emily, we must butter these pans lightly. Do as I do, yes~?" He proceeded to butter his cake pan while humming that same melody again. For some reason having someone to show off his "cooking prowess", so to speak, left Arco in quite the good mood. "I must say, Emily, I wasn't expecting you to actually want to help me with this. It is a nice surprise~." |

Emily followed Arco's lead and buttered the pan as instructed. She blushed slightly but kept her eyes on her work. "If I am to be of use to you, I must possess as many skills as possible. Be it in combat, in the office or more domestic tasks like cooking and cleaning." She nodded then looked up at her employer. She didn't want to admit it but the other reason she volunteered was because she knew it would make him a little bit happy. With the pans buttered, she turned to face him. "What is the next step?" The blonde Elite was a bit eager to keep going, content that all was going well so far. |

"Well, now I want you to..." Arco stopped to think as he looked around, then beamed and pointed at a bowl. "Now I want you to whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and the salt~." With that said he turned to the appliances counter of the kitchen and picked an electric mixer. While humming a song, he proceeded to beat more butter in the mixer. Having an extra set of hands was proving to be quite useful, as the cooking was done twice as fast. "So, you just recently got out of the hospital. Are you perfectly fine? Do you still feel anything amiss with that beautiful body of yours~?" He cheerfully asked, grinning as he looked back at Emily. |

Emily nodded. "Yes, sir." Without hesitation, she gathered the bowl and the ingredients. Gingerly, she began to whisk them together, careful not to spill anything. This was where she had gone wrong before. Foolishly, she had thought that by adding everything at once, it would make things easier. She hadn't realized there was an order to it. Though to be fair, she had only been given an ingredient list and the cooking time when she had attempted it on her own. That was the last time she would ask that idiot Najmah for cooking advice. She froze when Arco spoke again, nearly spilling the bowl. "I have had no major problems as of yet, Sir. My reaction times are a bit slow, however. I intend to begin training again as soon as possible to correct it." She chose to ignore the "beautiful" bit. |

"Ah, colorful~!" The warden of Hell exclaimed cheerfully as he looked at his wrist watch and proceeded to raise the speed of the mixer. As the butter continued to be beaten, he reached for the sugar, which he slowly added to the mix. He turned to look at Emily, smiling. "Ah, you can stop that now. Just set the bowl aside until we need it again~." After a few more moments he stopped to escrape the batter off the edges of the bowl. "Alright, now please, pass me the cocoa and the vanilla." He added those ingredients to the batter as Emily handed them and started up the machine again. He smiled at her. "In any case, it's good you're having a good recovery. I'll be needing you in top shape soon." |

Emily nodded and watched him, quietly. After a moment, she decided to speak up. "Sir...while I was recovering, did I miss any important news or announcements? I heard that we had captured two suspected MC members, a woman and a classmate of mine...is that true?" She glanced away from him. "I heard they were going to allow that idiot Ellis to play with them. Have you been in to see them yourself?" She couldn't help but imagine the woman they had captured. While she had been in the hospital, he had been out and about. Perhaps he had used that woman in her absence...she felt little pangs of jealousy spark within her. What if he had?! That tramp would probably have enjoyed it...welcomed it...how disgusting...Slowly, Emily got lost in her imagination, her body twitching a bit with ill-hidden rage. Arco was her employer. Even if he didn't think of her as anything more than his assistant or his plaything...the very idea of another woman with him made her blood boil. |

Arco gave Emily a sly grin. "Of course~. I can't very well stay on the sidelines when I have such valuable assets in my hands~." Arco could read Emily like a book by that point, and the jealousy hidden behind her questions was transparent to him. It was amusing, really, seeing how much he had changed in her and how much he now affected her. But right now it was not the time to probe her frail little mind with mind games, so Arco simply smiled calmly at her as he said. "I did talk to them a few times, but just for a few brief moments. The interrogators really interacted with them the most. I'm still waiting on their reports." Wit that said, he turned back to the cooking at hand. He left the mixer alone for now while reaching for a saucepan. Going back to hum a little tune, he mixed the water and the milk in the pan before placing it on the over, turning on the fire. |

It took everything Emily had to keep back a tiny, relieved sigh. Instead, her body relaxed and she unclenched her fists. Her nails had left slight imprints in her palms, but she brushed it off. "So who are they? The woman and the boy. Would I know them?" She wondered if perhaps she should pay them a little visit. After all, it was rare that MC members lived long enough to get caught. Most preferred to simply go down fighting. To have caught two in such a short time was astounding. She watched Arco boil the milk and water. Part of her wondered why the recipe called for such a thing. Still, out of not wanting to seem ignorant, she kept quiet. |

"Perhaps. Do the names Fisher Cross and Angela Wood ring any bells~?" He asked while having his back turned on her as he was still tending to the water and milk on the oven. He would show her the full reports once he had them, as it was only natural that his assistant was on board with the current events. Since she was his eyes and ears in SIN, keeping her informed would prove to be a wise decision. Then again, all of Arco's decisions were wise. Perfectly stylish, too. |

Emily took a few minutes to think over the names then looked back up. "I've heard of them. Miss Wood is a delivery girl for that cafe in the slums. Fisher Cross is the adopted son of the Crosses, an influential Elite family." She tilted her head. "But why would they join the Messiah Complex?" She thought a bit more about it, closing her eyes. "Cross I could understand, there are rumors that his parents abuse him, but Wood? She's no one. Are you sure she's a member? I mean perhaps they recruited her for her job since she delivers all over the city...but that begs the question whether her employer is aware of it. I've eaten at that cafe myself and the owner does not strike me as the type to get involved in something as risky as terrorism..." |
