She'd heard her name shouted loud and clear above the screams and cries of the villagers. Ruel stopped her changing, whipping around to see who had called her, but didn't see anyone. The people around her rushed past, Ferinus squealing in pain as they fell to the ground, a club bashing in their skulls or a sword cutting into their bodies. But why would anyone call her? They were winning, after all, and the rift beasts were on the run. It was simply a matter of time before they could claim victory over this battle. Then she heard her name called again. "What is it?" she called, straining to see over the wave of heads blocking her view. It was then she saw the small group of Ferinus leaping over buildings and scrambling towards the center of town where the main defenses stood. If the center fell, then all would be lost. "Guys! Protect the--" her words died in her throat, the blood draining from her face as another villager let out a terrifying scream as he tried to stem the rush of blood from a newly severed limb. And, the source of the injury? A small boy, his hair and clothes stained red with gore. He ran after her like she was his best friend, his hatchet doing its share of damage with each swing. He seemed totally unaware of how wrong it was. "N-no! Not you! Elias?!" Ruel backed up a few steps only to have a lone wolf Ferinus jump onto her back. She tumbled to the ground, wrestling with the creature, before finally ripping it off her back and stabbing her knife into it's chest. The Ferinus let out a shriek, the symbol on it's head flashing briefly before going back. One threat gone, Ruel twisted around only to see Elias dangerously close. She didn't have time to stand, all she could do was guard herself. "Stay back!" she shouted, holding up her knives in the boy's direction. The problem was, she failed to notice the second Ferinus sneaking up behind her. |

Ellie rubbed her shoulder and was thankful that Jake was too much of an idiot to notice her small blush. She was about to reply when things took a turn for the worst. She smacked away a Ferinus that got too close and backed up toward the town hall. Hearing the noises that came from inside strengthened her resolve. "Nothing's going to gets past if I can help it. And I'll watch my tail if you watch your back. No more suicide moves, okay? It's not like they're impressing anyone." The cat took a moment to smile at him, as if challenging him. She turned back to the battle and grinned. "What do you say? Most kills win? I won't even ask for your sunglasses if I win this time!" Twirling her baton, she charged what energy she could. Her ears perked as she could have sworn she heard the voice of a child calling for someone in the distance, but she brushed it off. Ruel would take care of it. Still....what was a child doing on a battlefield? |

The musicians heart sunk as he drudgingly followed the machine while dragging his feet in the snow. What could he want from me? He had repaired his strings by pulling the remaining cord to its limit and attaching it in place. Then thoughts of punishment for screwing up flew through his head like bolts of lightning. An entire fleet of Ferinus downed by 5 simple strings. This did not bode well. Ya know.... this guy could probably snap me like a twig if he wanted to...or someone told him to. Instead however Khyron just made a motion pointing toward the town which meant it was Fredrick's turn to join the fray. Honestly the musician didn't know if the the twig option was worse. But since he wasn't going to complain here on this barren wasteland of a planet he walked off toward the conflict. ________________________ When he arrived he saw the boy who someone called Elias staring down a woman dressed in black who seemed to be in quite a state of distress. Along with those two there was a teenager, a woman who seemed to be at least some part andriod, and a.....cat? Inset bar joke here Although this wasn't time for fun, he had a job to do and was slowly learning the implications of it. Raising his guitar to the ready he began to finger the newly repaired strings. Unfortunitly the break came at a terrible price, the strings were far to tight for him to play fast enough to make the sound blades and even a shield would be a stretch. Thankfully, as if Khyron heard his plight a fresh wave of Ferinus swarmed over the hill, these he would fight with. He quickly sent his music to them and their symbols flared up blue and order was maintained. Elias might have his hands full with that woman so he would send this group for the others. And the music played on... |

“Brooke! Get inside and seal those doors! Barricade them, spot-weld them, hold them closed if you have to but don’t open them for anything!” Brooke looked at the encroaching Ferinus. They'd made such progress, and the monsters still pushed on. The brunette glared. She'd never felt such strong hate towards something in her life. She nodded to Jake, then turned around, calling out to the scattered villagers and indicating the nearby (and luckily, intact) building. "Everyone, inside!" She yelled, rushing through the bloodstained snow, helping anyone who needed it to get into the sturdy structure. Once everyone had gathered in the safety of the building, she slammed the heavy wooden doors shut and bolted them. The echoing sounds of the battle outside were immediately muffled. Sighing, Brooke turned around and rested her back against the wood. Thirty, maybe forty frightened pairs of eyes stared at her anxiously through the dusty gloom of the hall. Somewhere in the room, someone was crying softly. The others were completely silent, save for the occasional shuffle of cloth. Brooke stared back at them, suddenly feeling a pang of guilt. If she and the others had never come to Glacies, would any of this have happened? "You're all going to be fine, okay?" She said, smiling reassuringly at the ashen faces. "We've almost won." |

“Stay~” The boy giggled. The hatchet blurred, the weapon hurled through the air and passed so close to Ruel’s head that a single strand of black hair drifted lazily away, which was a change of pace from that particular hair’s normal occupation of lying around. There was a woosh and a sick sucking sound like that of a boot getting pulled out of mud, only in reverse. The Hatchet was soon followed by it’s owner, also in the form of a blur for our viewing convenience. Elias leapt and tackled Ruel with the speed normally associated with taxi cabs in Vegas, which is to say rather fast. He knocked her to the ground from the force of what I’ll venture to call a hug and nuzzled her chest happily. “Ruel~!!” he cooed. Behind her the ferinus body lay crumpled with the hatchet having embedded itself into the creature’s skull. “I missed you…” He was oddly careful in his hug as to not hurt her, his arms snuggly around her middle. The boy was very happy indeed, and had been looking forward to seeing her again for quite some time. |

Ruel let out a shriek, ducking as the hatchet flew past her head so close she could hear the edge cut through the air. Before she could respond, a great force barreled into her chest as Elias struck her in what could be called nothing other than a glomp until she was lying on her back, in the bloody snow, next to a twitching Ferinus with a wooden handle sticking out of its skull. "I... feel the same I guess...?" she stuttered, lightly patting the boy on the back. He was definitely being careful this time, apparently their last encounter had made him fond of her or something. God help me. "Y-yes, it's nice to see you again, Elias but..." the words died on her tongue. Just seeing how pleased he look made that soft spot in her heart melt and she just couldn't push him away. But damnit, he was the enemy and she just watched him behead a guy and amputate another! Who cares that he missed her? He was the bad guy here and because of that he had to... die." But of course that wouldn't ever happen. After what she'd done to his hand, she couldn't bear to harm him again, and obviously he didn't want to harm her either or else she'd be dead by now. Finally, Ruel gave the boy a gentle hug. "How you doing, kiddo?" |

There were screams. Screams and gunfire echoed at the edge of town, which was worrisome as that had been the place the village defenders had chased the ferinus to. More screams then gunfire at first, but that was quickly changing. Villagers desperately fired their guns at the metal monster that walked at a determined pace toward them, bullets pinging of the plating. Light flashed from Khyron’s guns as he mercilessly cut through the village defense line. He plod at an even pace, his guns tearing through wood and cloth and flesh with cruel ease. The red eye never stopping as it roved back and forth. A few even charged with their primitive handheld weapons only to be mowed down by gunfire or laid a sunder by those terrible claws. Without Ruel’s commands, the fighters lost coherence in a terrible mirror version of the ferinus after Fredrick’s strings broke. The musically enhanced ferinus bounded behind the rampaging cylon, following for a change. But hey, it was a change of pace from running out ahead and getting killed, so they weren’t complaining. -- Some part deep inside Elias trembled. He liked getting hugged… “Hee~ I’m okay. Auntie Tori and uncle Arco told me I could play again! These people don’t play very well though.” He said putting a finger to his lips and looking up in an expression of thought. He shrugged. “Oh well. It’s okay I guess. I’m still a little sore after having fun with the stone man. He punches really hard…” Elias enhanced body could heal most injuries rather quickly, and his broken ribs and fractured bones had all but healed, but all damage left something behind. Fresh scars adorned his arms and legs and stomach, and one large one stretched from one cheek across the bride of his nose to the other cheek. The imperative whispered again for him to tighten his grip and crush the life out of her, but he did his best to ignore it and gave her a cheery smile. He didn’t want to play with her just yet… |

Ruel listened impatiently to Elias speak, the thought of helping the others briefly running through her head, but one wrong move and the boy could take it as an invitation to play... the bad way. It wasn't really until she mentioned a stone man did he gain her complete attention. "Stone... man? You mean Karl?!" Ruel sat up suddenly, grabbing Elias' shoulders and holding him still in front of her. "These bruises, the cuts and scars... he did this to you!? When?" Ruel cringed, reaching up to hover her fingertips over his cheek. "Damnit, Karl," she whispered, biting her lower lip as she looked to the side. She pulled the boy to her chest, wrapping her arms around his back and rocking slightly. "I'm so sorry, Elias. He--" she growled, fingers curling into fists. "He never told me! Damn it, I--god..." Ruel grew silent. 'It had to have been a couple days ago when... wait! He came back all bloody just yesterday, but he never said whose blood it was. That bastard lied to me again, after all the shit we went through together last night, that's what he turns around and does? When I get back, he's definitely going to get my two cents...!' Turning back to Elias, Ruel loosened her embrace and brush the hair out of his face to better see the injury. "Are you okay?" she pressed, in shock over how much damage was done. |

Elias blinked. She was…hugging him. And asking if he was alright…people didn’t ask that, not about his kind at least. It felt…good. But the look on her face made him feel bad. Behind him, one of the townsfolk hefted his pitchfork and charged the person who had apparently tackled their leader and clung to her. The boy’s eyes lit up. He gave Ruel a quick squeeze before flipping backwards and spinning midair. His hands blurred, catching the pitchfork before gracefully spinning around to use it on it’s former owners throat. As red began to rain down on top of him he turned to give Ruel a smile. “What’s wrong Ruel? I’m okay, see~?” |

OOC: ( I had more in mind, but My brain goes blank when I need it, so here goes.) Jake grinned. “You’re on!” the boy spun his bowie around so the blade pointed toward the ground and closed his eyes. “I’m trusting in you buddy…” he whispered. And then without looking he swung the knife. Blade relieving a ferinus of one of its vital components…mainly, its head. “That’s one!” He shouted after opening his eyes. And the race was on. |

Ellie smirked, spinning her baton. "No way I'm losing to you, human!" She hit every Ferinus within reach, competition giving her focus. Even so, she couldn't help but think she heard music in the distance. Subconsciously, the brunette began to match her moves to the sound. Eventually, it seemed to grow louder. "Hey Jake! I'm hearing things. Please tell me your crazy isn't contagious!" Though it seemed in jest, she worried that she really was loosing it. Her sensitive ears seemed to pick up on something that reminded her of gunfire...but that was impossible. "Music and guns. Great." |

(OOC:) Sleepy sleeepy spleeepy....here you guys go, more on the way.)) Bullets filled the air like angry hornets, only when they stung, it left something a little bigger then a welt. Khyron mercilessly mowed down any who interfered. Target, active cease. Target active cease….the fools don’t know when to give up.[I/] The centurion grabbed a broken down wagon and quickly chucked it into a villager with a club who had apparently thought that stabbing Fredrick in the back was a good idea. Khyron, (and most likely Fred) Disagreed. One thing the centurions had learned after their freeing, was that they did not leave one of their own, and Fred was now one of the contracted. Plus it left the musician free and uninterrupted to augment the ferinus at what few defenders still remained. Although, he have to see about assisting him in procuring an instrument that was somewhat more…reliable. His eye flickered when he spotted a familiar face. If a metal eye could narrow, Khyron’s would have at this moment. Her…the cat/human who had been the one responsible for his defeat and unexpected humiliation. The Cylon began to clomp toward her and the town hall beyond… Now if you don’t mind, I think I’m going to go hide behind that half a bench over there and watch from a safe distance, Faaaar away from the angry cylon. After all, if I wasn’t here to tell you what happens, then you readers would be in an awful fix now wouldn’t you. Jake flinched again at the crazy remark, his face empty of expression. “Not crazy Ellie. Just lucky.” He returned as one of the buildings collapsed on several ferinus that were trying to take a shortcut through the remains of a building to get him from behind. He whiled to see the wreckage and accidentally stabbed another ferinus in the head and flinched at the gruesome site. He gave a low whistle and shook his head. “You never did like two story houses much did you bud.” His smile faded a little when he saw another group charging toward him and Ellie, the symbol glowing on their heads. But that wasn’t the strangest part. Behind them was a man playing a guitar. Jake’s eyes widened as one of the white rift creatures started to boundd toward guitar guy. Without thinking, which is not exactly something Jake did extensively, the blonde ran right through the group. The strange part is…despite the rift monsters greatest efforts, they couldn’t lay a hand on him. The boy ran up to the man. “ Now’s not the time for a song and dance Mister! You’ve got to get out of here!” he shouted |

Fredrick watched unsettlingly as the Ferinus were slowly gaining the upper hand again. Fortifications fell and the line was pushed backed in their favor. He felt the wind as a wheelbarrow flew behind him tossed by Khyron. Well at least he’s not the type to hold a grudge over failure The sounds of battle and music mingled in a hellish symphony of noise, screams, war shouts, death rattles. These were the backup singers to the musician’s first real début. Then out of nowhere a blondish kid ran up to him avoiding the wall of Ferinus that should have inhibited him from getting so close to Fredrick. “Now’s not the time for a song and dance Mister! You’ve got to get out of here!” Mister?! …Oh could this be one of the ones that I’m here to put a stop to? I might be able to reclaim some loyalty if I am able to end him. And yet…He looks so familiar. I wonder why “Well my young man, it seems that this world’s time is nearing its end. I could think of no better time to sing. Now…let’s see how you dance!” And with that statement he made a very large bowing gesture and several Ferinus hopped over his back and lunged toward Jake. And the music still played on. |

The reunion had been okay, until Elias decided to show Ruel just how violent he could be. The half-smile that was on her face instantly vanished, jaw dropping as she watched the villager that she was trying to save perish in a gory spray. The dirty snow below turned a shade of red as Elias stared back at her, grinning in a way that could only be described as sadistic. "Y-you're crazy," Ruel squeaked, slowly rising to her feet. "You're mad! You don't just go around killing people! I tried to save that man!" she shouted, all affection that she previously held completely gone. "Why do you always have to kill?!" she demanded before suddenly crouching at the sound of gunfire. Quickly glancing to see where the shots were being fired from, the teenager had to take a second look, not believing her eyes as she watched a metal robot mow down the few villagers that were remaining before focusing on Ellie. She turned back to Elias. "I don't know what your problem is, and frankly I couldn't give a damn right now, because I need to get back to winning this fight," she snapped, wiping blood and sweat from her brow. "So you-- you just stay away! Go play with whoever brought you here. Or even better, go back to where you came from!" And with that, she snatched her knives from the ground and turned to run after her team mates. ------------------------- In the outskirts of the town, Tori walked casually among the fallen, watching indifferently as a few gasping villagers cried out to her for help. She knew there was nothing she could do for the people to save their lives, so she did the one thing she was good at. She grasped the hand of a wounded man, his eyes brightening in a moment of hope before growing dull and rolling back into his head. Tori released the limp hand before meandering over to the next victim. I'm not exactly killing them, she told herself as she touched the hand of dying woman, So there really is no way I can be accused for such a crime. I'm simply relieving them of hours of agony. A symbiotic relationship, that's all. There was a wail of a baby, it's dead mother holding it closely against her chest in a final effort to protect those they loved. Tori stared down at the child, watching as it flailed its arms in a futile attempt to be given attention, it's face bright red as it clenched its eyes together, toothless mouth wide open in its scream. Crouching down, Tori reached out for the baby, pulling it from it's mother's clutches before holding it tightly in her arms. "Shhh... everything's going to be okay," the woman cooed, wrapping the child within her think coat. She bounced it slightly, talking quietly for a moment before covering it completely. Tori moved on with the child, protecting it from the winter cold as she ended more misery and pain. Finally, she reached the edge of town and pulled the baby from her trenchcoat. "See? You're safe now," she whispered, setting the child under a houses overhanging roof, out of the snow, before moving on. Dead eyes stared out across the snow-covered road, the silent baby's chest never to rise again. |

Jake watched in shock as his vision was filled with white. And I’m not talking about snow. Instinctively he moved to take a step back, but alas, the snow beneath his foot was just a tad on the slick side. The ferinus that leapt over Fred with the intention of mauling Jake were unfortunately faced with the fact that not only was he no longer standing in front of them, but that they could not change direction mid pounce. They sailed gracefully over Jake, who by this point had fallen onto his back, in a beautiful arc that ended…in one of the wooden spike barricades that the villagers had erected. What a lucky break for your bumbling hero eh~? Jake blinked in surprise. “Wow Max, this guy might just be as lucky as me. He bowed right before they pounced, and he wasn’t even facing the right direction!” Oh Jake, such a naïve boy. He repeated his warning. “ that was really cool, but you need to get out of here!” But before he could continue, he noticed a large armored figure stomping toward Ellie. The only thing that went through his head resembled a combination of no, run, stop, behind you, and ssgasdf, which we presume is jake-ese for something deadly this way comes. Jake left the guitarman in a cloud of snow, charging the Metal monster the looked oddly familiar, yet he couldn’t put a finger on it. Something about that eye. Anyway, while I was rambling, Khyron spotted our blonde-haired dope, and pointed his guns only to hear a click. All three guns on the arm pointed at Jake jammed. If the Cylon had had an eye lid, he would have blinked in surprise. But unfortunately for Jake, guns are only half of a Centurions offensive weapons. “Ellie! Behi—.” Khyron backhanded Jake with all the force of a small pickup truck. The boy landed a few feet away on his back, bruised, but miraculously without a single broken rib. Khyron glared at him, red eye continuing is eternal path of left, right, left, right. Surprisingly, the only sound Jake made after this was. “…ow…” -- Elias stood and watched, dumbfounded at Ruel’s words. “I…I’m not crazy…” He said softly. Disturbed by the look she was giving him. He’d seen it before, countless times, but…it had never mattered. It had all been part of the game. Why? Did I…Did I do something wrong? |
