“Ellie! Behi—.” The cat girl in question turned, her ears falling in sheer terror. Of all the enemies to show up here...Gulping, she backed up slowly, her tail bristling. Luckily Jake seemed alright, but...no way she could beat this thing again on her own. Last time, she and Bumaga had the element of surprise. It didn't know what they could do, so they were able to overtake it. Now, she was alone and it knew most of her tricks. "Heh...heh...Hi there...been a while, h-hasn't it?" She smiled and gulped nervously, the only things keeping her from screaming and running away. Trying to run never ended well for her. "N-no hard feelings? Heh...heh...oh Mother, I'm going to die...." Taking a breath, she spun her staff. Maybe what she did last time would work. Scared as she was...she had to at least try fighting for her life. "Jake! Get off your rump and get over here!!" Spinning her staff, she darted out from in front of the Cyclon, hoping to find a weak spot. 'There! His back!' She sped up as fast as her tired body would allow and raised her staff. Thanks to him, there were more sparks than before. However, even if the attack hit, it would probably only stun him for a few moments. Ellie hoped that would be long enough for Jake's so-called luck to kick in... |

The attack didn’t go exactly as planned, as most that were thought up within four seconds time normally do. The boy dodged the mauling beast and before Fredrick had time to retaliate one of the villagers had decided to make a suicide run for the musician. With seconds to spare however he put up a shield which sent the villager rebounding back into a pack of Ferinus and his life was shortly over thereafter. When Fredrick turned back to the fight he watched as Khyron began fighting the boy and also the cat as well. He turned his head and saw the girl dressed in black and Elias staring each other down. This I could use to our advantage And with a flick of his wrist several Ferinus headed his call and began working their way towards Ruel. Amidst the shouting, screams, and music the organized pack blended into the scenery and were almost impossible to hear coming. I really hate that I need to spoil that small child’s “fun” as he called it. But this is war, and war is hell And the music…..do I even need to tell you anymore? |

Ruel stomped through the trampled snow, knives tight in her grip as she walked away from the boy who she had allowed herself to feel sorry for, and back to her teammates. Jake and Ellie were concentrating on a large robot thing, which only seemed too eager to pound their heads into a pulp. When she spotted Fredrick, she stopped by him. "You're the one from the hot springs, right?" at the recollection of the memory, she felt an embarrassed blush creep into her cheeks, making her only too thankful that the cold weather and fighting had already turned them a deep red. "You need to get to the center of town - Brooke will let you inside with all the others where it's safe!" Ruel stammered before running off to help her friends. If Elias had not shown up, she would have noticed that with each strum of Fredrick's guitar, the symbols on the Ferinus that were rushing around them pulsed a brighter blue than before. But thanks to the child, she failed to put the two together. What she also failed to notice was the small group of Ferinus that were flanking her, their great speed and lithe movements making them almost undetectable. And that would play to their favor within the next few seconds. |

Khyron whirled, catching the staff in his fingers. He leered down at the catgirl who was responsible for causing his humiliation. “You…” His voice hissed, which was a very disturbing sound when made by his mechanical voice. He yanked her staff out of her hand and tossed it away.(ironically, it hit a ferinus who had been trying to sneak up on Jake) His sharp fingers closing into a fist. Jake hopped to his feet in time to see the angry Cylon rake his fingers across Ellie’s midriff, knocking her back in the process. The red on his steely fingers contrasting well with the snow. Khyron stepped forward, his armored body towering above her. He raised his other arm, the guns unfolding and taking a bead on the feline. “You Made Me Lose Lady Tori’s Trust…Prepare To Die.” He said, his voice sounding hauntingly more alive then machine. |

Pain. Blinding, white hot pain. Elloise yowled in pain as she was slashed, then landed hard on the ground, limp as a ragdoll. Thanks to the heavy coat, the slice itself wasn't fatal. She whimpered and curled into a ball, eyes shut tight. She could hear the thing as it loomed over her, but she couldn't do anything about it. She was going to die...She'd never see her sisters...her home...Everything hurt. A tiny part of the cat girl wanted it to be over...Just to make everything go away. |

“RrrrraaahHH!!” Jake plowed into Khyron’s arm just as he opened fire, the bullets riddling the ground and walls of nearby buildings as his gun/arm swung up and away from Ellie sending flakes of snow and chips of wood everywhere. The cylon spun with the momentum, grabbing the boy and flinging him to the ground. “Pretentious Whelp.” He blared mechanically, turning back to Ellie. Jake scrambled to his feet and charged again in leaping onto the centurions back. “Don’t touch her!” he barked, his fingers clawing for purchase on the chrome colored armor. The cylon’s eye turned a deeper shade of red. Khyron reached back, his spindly fingers clawing to remove the pest who had so recently taken up residence on him. After two strangely unsuccessful grabs he finally snagged part of Jake’s coat and hurled him over his head and through the air. Jake hit with a solid whumf sound rolling and tumbling across the snow where he lay still. That done, Khyron turned back to finish off the one who had disgraced him. She would die for that… But as he aimed and his audio receptors met with a very depressing sound. For him anyways. He tried to fire again only for his guns to click….empty? First three guns jam, and then the remaining ones simultaneously ran out of ammo? The chance of this occurring was ridiculous. The guns retracted into his arm. Even without his guns, the centurion was just as fatal. I will have retribution…she’ll recognize me and I will be rewarded for my faithfulness…target movement negative, eliminating. Then something caught his eye. “Don’t…you touch…her.” The cylon turned and watched in relative surprise as Jake dragged himself to his feet, red trailed from the corner of his mouth. As his face came into view Khyron noted a change in the boy’s expression. A determined look…rage? Anger perhaps? Jake glared back at the Machine as more ferinus scampered toward him. “No one else will die. Not because of me. Not because of me!” He snarled, his eyes narrowed, face set in an expression of pained anger. He reached down to pick up his knife, fingers carving ruts in the snow as they slowly wrapped around the handle. Khyron had no idea what the boy was talking about, and didn’t really care. The centurion stared at the boy, curious as to how long exactly it would take the ferinus to maim him. Soft green eyes watched as the pack surrounded him, flitting to Ellie and then back to the group. “I won’t lose them.” he growled softly, his hand blurring as it whipped open his other knife. “Call it courage, call it fear, call it whatever you want, but to save them… I’LL TAKE YOU ALL ON!” he shouted, spinning to slash down a ferinus as it pounced. Desperate. That would be the best way to describe how Jake fought. A ferinus snarled as its teeth missed him in a failed lunge. Before it could get away Jake wrapped his arm around its neck and buried his bowie deep into its side. Then without a second thought he hefted and used the ferinus own body to beat away one of its fellows. He wasn’t even a very good fighter. Always fouling up. Always bumbling from one kill to the next. And yet, despite this, the rift creatures were practically getting in line to find a coffin. A barbed tail snapped past Jakes face and embedded itself into the ground. Metal flashed as the boy cut the tail in half before using it to skewer the head of another monstrosity, sickly colored liquid seeping out of the wound. Then the building behind him blew apart, bits of splintered wood were sent flying everywhere. A goliath stomped through the wrecked wall and smashed its armored fist down, but instead of hitting Jake, it squashed one of its own, the boy having been knocked backwards out of the way by the incredibly unfortunate one that was now flattened into the ground. The blonde gritted his teeth, scrabbling to his feet and drove his knife into the giant rift creature’s hand. The Goliath roared, having not been ready for the sudden and intense pain it now felt. Reflexively it sent its arm skyward, and Jake, who had been clinging to the handle for dear life. As the boy and his knife reached ninety degrees, Jake experienced something we currently like to call air time. Gripping the knife in both hands he held it above his head and brought it down with all his strength. The blade sank hilt deep into neck of the Goliath, its big arms flailing about as it howled in a death throe. Or at least that’s how Jake had envisioned it happening. In truth the massive creature smacked him aside, his body thudding across the ground, his knife sent flying from his hand. His whole body shaking, the blonde turned around as the light was suddenly blocked out by the Goliath’s massive form. Jake stared up in awe as the huge creature, its immense plated form. A creature of incredible strength and power, it could not be stopped easily by anyone… except Jake’s eyes stared past it. His knife fell. Having been knocked from his hand, the antique blade spiraled slowly as gravity pulled it ever on its way. The goliath raised a fist, one that was sure to end Jake’s life in an instant. “Now Max!” At the last second the knife righted itself, the tip facing down before plunging deep into the Goliath’s skull. The weight, the height, and the strange properties of the knife itself gave it the speed and force needed to pierce through the bony plating and beyond. The huge monster rocked, balance no longer necessary when one didn’t have a functional brain. It swayed gently back and forth before crashing to the ground, crushing the last surviving ferinus in the pack as it attempted to escape. “….Error?” Was all the astonished, or as astonished the cylon could get, could say. How could a single human youth survive that? Jake swayed as he got to his feet, his coat torn and covered in red and black splotches. He gritted his teeth, and to the surprise of the cylon actually hobbled to stand in between Ellie and the centurion with a look of determination. The knife trembled in his hand, his stance firm. Jake didn't plan on dying anytime soon. |

As she ran, Ruel watched Jake battle the Plated Goliath, doing surprisingly well for how giant the creature was; probably Max's luck playing a rather large part there. But surely his luck couldn't last forever and he'd soon tire. Adrenaline could only push you so far before you collapsed in exhaustion. Suddenly the teenager froze mid-step, eyes growing wide and mouth parting in terror as she remembered something: Elias had the last cure! They'd fought everyone else and seen everyone destroy their own vaccines, but Elias was notably absent! At any moment a villager could get a lucky shot and lop off the boys head. He could fall and crush the vial and Jumper would die all because of her stupid emotions getting in the way. Pushing past the voice in her head that screamed "NO!", Ruel turned around and ran back to the boy, who was still sitting forlornly in the snow, eyes wide and inno--"No, he's covered in someone elses blood, and you can't forget that right now, damnit!" she growled aloud. Her legs cried out in pain as she pushed herself to run on and on until she reached Elias. She dropped to her knees, her mouth open as she panted. "Elias!" she managed to say hoarsely after several lungfulls of air. "You-you have something that I really--" And then claws dug into her side. Her shredded coat did little to guard against the needle-sharp claws of the wolf-like Ferinus as they plowed into her. Ruel felt her ribcage explode in pain as her skin was ripped open in long gashes, canine fangs hooking into her forearm and tosses her into the air with extraordinary force. Ruel fell to the snow in a heap, face wrinkling in pain as her nerves reported the damage dutifully. If it weren't for Jumper's near-death, she would've laid there a little longer, but Elias had the answer! However, the Ferinus had a different idea. As the small group circled around for another strike, Ruel pulled up her knife with shaking limbs, turning just enough to face the beasts. In seconds they were on top of her again, fangs biting at her arms, legs, and back as they viciously attacked. One of the Obsessive Fangs howled in agony as a knife was stabbed through it's neck, the rest of it's pack jumping away to avoid another swing of the bloodied weapon. Their symbols flashing brightly, the creatures ran off to prepare for another assault. Groaning in pain, the teenager rolled over, the blood running from the puncture wounds in spurts as her muscles tightened and relaxed. Karl sent her here on purpose because he believed she could make a difference, and damnit, she was going to reach that cure even if she had to crawl the whole way! |

Elias blinked and smiled at Ruel even as she was plowed into by one of the ferinus. He watched curiously. She had been saying something….but the ferinus wanted to play. The boy grinned and jumped next to her, casually slicing a leaping ferinus in two as if it were…well, Childs play. He bent over and giggled at her. “White doggies sure like to play a lot, especially when they listen to music man’s banjo~. “He punched one in the face as it dove for Ruel’s back, the poor creature having mistaken Elias’s talking to her for a distraction, it’s skull now cracked. The boy dropped to down and hugged his knees, his bloody, smiling face now at eyelevel with her, eyes blinking in curiosity. “Hee~ You okay Ruelly~? You aren’t playing very well with the doggies.” Only a hundred or so feet away another confrontation wasn’t going quite as friendly. Khyron’s eye burned a bright red. Enough of this… Jake stared back at the metal monster before him, his position between Ellie and it was as solid as his weary body could manage. He trembled as he held the knife, which was becoming difficult to hold due to the blood. Bravado or not, this boy was in his way…he needed to help lady Tori. If he helped her, he could go home. If he kept failing…he’d never see his home again... Khyron clomped forward, but Jake held his ground. While it impressed the centurion that the boy did so even though he must have known it was certain death. “Is It Fear, Or Cour-age That Makes You Fight? I’ve Seen Men Die Valiant-ly, There Is No Future In It.” His harsh mechanical voice was slightly less distorted, less metallic. His hand blurred, fingers sinking into Jake’s shoulder before lifting him up to eye level. Jake winced, biting his lip as the cylons fingers sank into his flesh, and again when those very fingers where used to hoist his body into the air. “I-I’m not afraid of you. Because I know I won’t lose…” Little trails of red dribbled down the centurions fingers from where they disappeared at Jake’s skin. Khyron brought the human closer so that he could see the boy’s face better. He might as well humor him, it wasn’t as if he had long to live this delusion. “And Why Is That~?” To the cylons further curiosity, the boy actually managed to smile. “…b…” He took a breath, squinting at the pain. “because, my friend is bigger then you.” This Left the cylon with several more questions that he would have liked to pursue. Who was this friend? How big was he? What was he? How did the size of someone’s “friend”, make any difference in winning? Friend...? The concept of friend was still vague to the cylon, damage from the initial rift dive, and from whatever was going on inside him now had played havoc with some of his memories. At one point he may have had a friend. Despite his desire to question the boy farther he didn’t want to let his curiosity get him in trouble like last time. The cylon drew his other hand back, preparing to impale the boy on his long spindly fingers. But as he thrust his arm forward his arm locked in place. He looked at it and jerked it, mind immediately running diagnostics of the motors, plating and joint control. Before he could find anything, the motors his other arm failed. Jake dropped to the ground and fell onto his back, his expression giving the impression that he wasn’t surprised in the least. The blonde backed away as Khyron regained control of his limbs. Despite this strange setback he would not let it stop him. Before either of them could do anything, a low rumble caught their attention. Jake’s jaw dropped. Behind the cylon in the direction of the town hall, a wall of white flowed toward them. It looked as if the mountain itself had shrugged off a coat, leaving the bare rock and stone surface beneath. “What have you done Max…” Jake whispered…fear rising in his gut. Khyron couldn’t believe it, he was so close! He whirled on Jake and Ellie, determined to finish what he had started. A shadow fell across him. Jake watched in awe as the building that the Goliath he had killed earlier had remodeled, trembled. The stone church’s bell tower teetered and began to fall. The shadow over the cylon stretched until it surrounded him. “…Lady…Tori?” Khyron said softly. The centurion’s form vanished as the stone tower crashed to the ground with enough force to shake Jake where he lay. Jake didn’t know what to say, but then he didn’t have much time, beyond the town the wall of white leveled trees in a wave of destruction composed entirely of fluffy, white, snow….and ice and boulders and various debris! His eyes jerked to where Ellie lay, the front of her coat stained red. And then the world seemed to slow down. It wasn’t that Jake was moving really fast, nor that through some trick of Arco’s the world had slowed. It was moving just as fast as it normally did, like that of a reckless driver on a gravel road in the middle of monsoon season. In the little time he had Jake ran to Ellie’s side and covered her with his own body in an attempt to shield her. After all…He’d survive like he always had… He prayed the others would make it through this… |

It was almost too good to be true to see Elias run after her. Ruel knew in the back of her mind that the Ferinus would rip her to shreds before she would be able to reach the boy, but the thought of the cure within crawling distance had clouded her judgement. She fought the wolves off the best she could, though in truth Elias was doing the most damage - she'd only managed to scratch a few with a weak swipe of her knife. "For the last time," Ruel panted as the Ferinus ran off again, "I'm not playing! They're trying to kill me, Elias." The teenager hung her head in exhaustion, barely holding herself up with shaking, bleeding arms as she struggled to regain even a sliver of strength. The cure! Hands went to Elias' clothes, patting down his body and turning his pockets inside-out, but Ruel felt no vial. "You have the cure! The one that Arco gave you. I really, really need that, Elias. I have a friend and she--she's sick. If I don't make her better, she'll die and I'll be very sad. Please, can you give me the cure? I'm begging you," she gasped, clinging to the boy's. It was then that she noticed the ground shaking, the snow on the roofs of the houses falling off onto the ground. "W-what's going on?" Ruel mumbled, looking around for the source. "Oh god, not another wave of Ferin--" That's when she saw the wall of snow twisting and tumbling towards the small village. "Avalanche!" Ruel hissed, grabbing Elias and attempting to drag him towards shelter. However, her legs gave out beneath her and she looked up again to see the snow even closer. "Elias! Get out of here! Now!" ------------------------------------------------ Tori first noticed the approaching avalanche as she looked up from her latest deed. She frowned, the dragon-like Ferinus that she rode before vaulting onto the wasteland before her from a newly formed rift. Flipping her hair over one shoulder, she climbed onto the back of the beast, the two sets of wings rising and muscular hind legs ready to launch itself skyward. "It's a pity all these people will be wasted," she muttered coldly as the Ferinus took to the sky, wings beating madly to clear the avalanche before it struck - they all knew the consequences of failing Arco's number one accomplice. The Ferinus' mouth was gaping open, symbol flaring madly and chest expanding and contracting as fast as its heartbeat as it climbed higher and higher. Of course, by the time the avalanche would be upon them, they would be far above the disaster. Leaning to the left, Tori looked down upon the fallen village, grinning wickedly as she watched the church bell fall upon her so-called guardian. |

The musician watched as the Ferinus he was controlling stealthily hit their mark and blindsided Ruel while her guard was down. Then they made a circle to go at her again. Hmm…Strange, I was almost sure that someone as seemingly dedicated to her cause would have avoided that. I only did it to give Elias a moment to deliver the killing blow There was no way Fredrick could have known that it involved the small glass vial hanging around his neck that Arco unwillingly gave to him. His attention was then turned away from Ruel and Elias because they seemed to be able to hold their own with just the formation boost of his music. Suddenly a large splash of black blood covered his face. He frantically wiped at it with one hand and he saw as one of Khyron’s Plated Goliaths were felled by…ONE MAN!? Fredrick’s unstable mind suddenly did a back flip, he watched as Khyron lifted the teen up to his eye level and was only moments from ripping him limb from limb when he just seemed to become noticeably worried that his arms weren’t functioning anymore. His fingers suddenly sprang into action to try to maintain control of the hectic situation when a loud clamor erupted from behind him and the church tower tipped over and if fell down on top of both of the two contracted. I'm dead…there’s no way a guy could survive from that. Huh, irony, killed by a church. I wonder if I will go to heaven Fredrick opened his eyes gradually as he found himself standing amidst a pile of rubble that had once been a place of worship. As it turns out by a bizarre Jakeish amount of luck the exact point of where the tower fell on top of him Fredrick’s whole body slipped through a window that the very nice Mrs. Tanner (deceased) had opened just that morning to air out the old building. Badly shaken but otherwise alright Fredrick stared out at the mess that was in front of him. Ferinus were being slain left and right. Even a formation boost wasn’t enough to combat these villagers’ determination to protect their home. It would take a fricken natural disaster to salvage this mess now… And moment later his wish would be granted. It is a very peculiar sight to observe what people do with their last moments alive once they know of their imminent demise. As the avalanche rolled toward the small town people threw down their makeshift weapons and an in fear, Some fell down on the ground and cried out to a man who obviously wasn’t there, and the most peculiar of the bunch were the ones who kept fighting as if all that was coming their way was a strong gust of wind. Fredrick Renaldi had such an opportunity and was lucky enough to not suffer the same fate as those who didn’t have the power to teleport themselves to their salvation. He walked in silence toward a rift that he had summoned. The fight was over. His presence had no impact on the overall outcome. Total annihilation had always been the ultimate goal. He had long since stopped playing his guitar. The world around the musician had slowed to a crawl and all the sound in the world ceased to be. A strange feeling befell the man as he walked, ironic in a way how a man who spent his life making music for other now longed that the silence in his head would never end. He hollowly laughed as he imagined himself conducting the silence in his head and how its music would be sweeter than any that he could ever achieve with his old guitar. He was only inches from the rift when all of a sudden a small girl ran out in front of him in normal speed. She reached down and hugged her blood soaked doll as she curled into a fetal position to try and survive the destruction that was imminent. A new feeling suddenly fell over Fredrick. He wanted to save this girl, the part of him that didn’t want people to die was taking over the void he felt while fighting. Suddenly the world sped up again. Time, sound, and awareness were at 100%. He turned to face the avalanche in front of him. He had no reason to believe that this would work yet he was going to try it all the same. He began strumming his guitar to his heart beat’s melody which was barely audible over the screaming. The impact was more than he had anticipated but still regained his footing. Just as he had hope the snow crashed into him, moved around the barrier and then continued along its path. It will be a miracle if I can survive this And he suddenly began thinking of calling out the name of a man who wasn’t there as well. |

The pain began to die down, thanks in part to the cold surrounding them. Ellie came out of her haze slightly to see Jake taking on the robot by himself. All she could do was watch...and she hated it! There had to be something....Wait....Her ears perked. There was something headed for them. Something big. Then the cracks began. The tower nearby was about to fall. "Jake...tower...big noise.." She guessed he hadn't heard her, since he kept fighting with the Ferinus around them. She was so tired...it was cold and everything hurt...the blood had almost entirely stopped flowing, but she still felt so weak. Her eyes began to close. Maybe a quick nap wouldn't hurt...The rumbling was getting closer. Something cracked and crashed. She guessed it was the tower. Then, to her surprise, she was engulfed in warmth. "Jake?" She mumbled, opening her eyes again. He had her covered, as if shielding her from something. Her shaking hands gripped his coat. She didn't know what was going on...but she was so happy that if this really was the end, she wouldn't be alone. |

Elias blinked, his cheery smile still in place, even as he looked over his shoulder to see the wall of white that thundered toward them. “Hee~ if you didn’t want to play in the snow Ruelly, why didn’t you just say so~!” The boy leaned over and with one arm picked Ruel up as if she were no heavier then a stuffed animal. “Don’t want to get washed away nope nope.” He said as if an avalanche wasn’t something you screamed and ran from. The boy ran over next to the huge bronze form of an overturned church bell, which had decided to vacate the premises of its tower shortly after said tower had found itself quite taken with the ground. He plopped her of inside the bell itself and grinned at her. “stay.” He said waving his finger childishly before running over to a pile of debris and retrieving a large metal pole. Elias ran back and flipped over the top of the bell spinning mid-air before gracefully slamming the pole down through the hole in the top of the bell traditionally used to hold the bell up. The metal dug its way through grass that had long since frozen and right down through the permafrost. I think it’s safe to say that the pole would not be going anywhere soon. He flipped back over the bell and quickly crawled inside, snuggling against the girl inside happily, completely unfazed by the blood or cramp quarters. “Hang on Ruel~” They didn’t have to wait long. Moments after he crawled inside, the wave ploughed into the town like a wall of water…er…unfrozen water. Buildings were washed away and buried but the tidal force that was hundreds of tons of snow, and anyone left outside had only moments to reflect on their lives before being engulfed and dragged under by the fluffy white terror. As it turned out, the very bell tower that had toppled over and saved Jake from the cylon now shielded him and Ellie from the danger, the snow and debris smashing into the stone structure and blowing around and over it. Jake closed his eyes and pressed his and Ellie’s bodies against the crevice between the tower and the ground, using the space it created to put as much distance as he could in hopes the snow would flow over them both. Snow flowed past the edges of the tower and over the top taking ferinus and most of the town with it. As the rumbling finally dulled and the snow began to settle, the only building left standing was the town hall, which had thankfully been built into the side of the mountain itself and was the strongest building in the village. Jake lay limply over Ellie, his eyes closed, breathing faint, his mind vaguely aware that he was alive and struggling to come out of the daze he was in. Well can you blame him? YOU try surviving an avalanche! The town was gone…replaced by a field of broken wood, stone, and ferinus bodies. Elias peered through the darkness, his genetically augmented eyes filtering what little light they could catch. It had gone dark after the snow had buried the end of their bell, but he was pretty sure it wasn’t too deep. |

Ruel shivered, arms wrapped tightly around Elias for warmth, as she watched the avalanche turn the already gloomy atmosphere nearly black. The pole held the bell stayed at the angle at which it fell - know knew they re actually sitting on top of a Cylon? After the rumbling of the wave of snow passed, everything was eerily quiet - no more cries of pain from the few villagers left, no more frighting cries from the Ferinus as they attacked without hesitation. Just silence. "I-I think the battle is over, Elias," the teen whispered, trying not to cringe with every breath she took. "I need to get to the top of this and find out how my friends are doing. I hope they were as safe as we were." Crawling forward, Ruel waved her hands out blindly in front of her, striking the edge of the large bell a couple times before finding the wall of snow. Reaching for her belt, her brow furrowed upon discovering that she had successfully lost all but one knife, but one was better than none. She plunged the blade into the packed snow, cutting loose chunks of the once-deadly material on her way towards the surface where she could only hope her friends were waiting for her. After a few cuts, Ruel looked back in the direction she guessed Elias was. "Do you, uh, mind helping me? I'm utterly spent..." |

As the rumbling stopped, Ellie shivered due to cold. Opening her eyes, she wondered what had caused it. It was then she realized that she had regained some coherent thought. The pain had dimmed and the wound was already starting to heal, the blood having stopped some time ago. At least now, she could probably move a tiny bit without it ripping back open. She tried to stand, but there was something heavy on top of her. Warm too. She tilted her head up to look and blushed. Oh right...Jake had protected her. It was...unexpected. Sure, they didn't hate each other, yet...biting her lip, she forced a glare. "And just what do you think you're doing on top of me?! I didn't ask for you to play prince charming, island boy!" She was thankful that she could blame her red cheeks on the cold. Though she'd never admit it, she was very thankful and touched. Squirming a bit, she noticed the devastation all around them. Almost nothing remained of the town. 'Is it over? Did we win?....No...Everything's in ruins...so many are dead...I can smell the bodies already. We survived...but we didn't win.' She worried a bit when she couldn't see Ruel. As much as the other girl bugged her, she hoped she was okay. |

Over time the snow’s intensity died down, the entire world surrounding Fredrick was covered in white. Once it did eventually stop so did the fingers of the musician. He let his hand fall to his side and then he turned to face the girl he had saved. Bending down on one knee he turned the girl’s face up. “Hey, listen, it’s safe now. Everything is going to be alright. You’re safe now.” It was important to say these sorts of things; Of course it was not OK. It wasn’t going to be OK for a very long time after this. He looked over the devastation. Half the buildings were demolished, the others in shambles. In fact the only building that still seemed stable was the Town Hall where most of the elderly and young ran to hide. Then he turned back to the girl. However in the girls eyes her home was gone, her family, wiped away right before her eyes, and the one responsible was the man standing right before her; And he had the cruelty to keep her alive, so it would be a very long time to see her family again. This blood soaked beast had to be punished… With a bestial roar she jumped at him brandishing a jagged piece of metal and went straight for the throat. Taking him totally by surprise Fredrick tried to back away but, because of the avalanche he stood on unsteady footing and he fell on his back. The knife only inches from his throat the musician used what remained of his strength to throw her off of him. He scrambled to his feet with his fingers at his instrument of death. He raised his hand to the sky but before he let it drop he saw that the girl began crying and the knife was embedded in the snow. Fredrick didn’t have it in him to kill someone that wasn’t armed. Let alone a child! He visably shook with terror at the mere thought of what he was about to do. Then he looked at his body. His hands, shirt, pants and even shoes were covered in black and red blood. Entire families were ended today, and he was a part of it! This was the breaking point, he couldn’t take it anymore. He wanted to puke, but he wasn’t going to do it here. He very quickly opened a portal to the island of rifts and sprinted toward it. Although the cruel hand of fate wouldn’t let this day end just yet. Oh hell no. Suddenly the sun was blacked out by some figure flying above. When Fredrick glanced upward he witness an angel of death descending upon them all. And he had no fear. |
