Good luck Irisis Bumaga thought as he entered the next room, flipping over and over until his folded creases bent back into their normal shape. As he began walking upright, the paper man began hearing the shattering of glass behind him. "It will be ok." Bumaga said out loud, trying to shake his head free of distractions. "He can hold out, I'm sure of it." He suddenly thought of Karl telling the paper man how he couldn't be rescued by something called a "cheap plot device," but the thought of such a thing still gave him some comfort as he continued onward. The hall of mirrors was long behind him now as he ran down the hallway, which had gained a rusted red tint in the stone, unlike the dark rock he had seen up until now. He could see a dark red light emanating from the end of the hallway, suddenly feeling a breeze that made him feel like he was wading through snow. Still, the wind was surprisingly warm, nothing like the stinging cold winds outside. What was causing it? The question was answered just a few minutes later as Bumaga ran into the room that made up the rounded top of the temple, and skidded to a halt. It was a huge spherical room, covered with glowing square stones as red as berries, cracked all over, which seemed to contain large snake-like shadows that swam around the walls of the room in a circular pattern. The only area that looked safe to walk on was a short path of floating dark blue stepping stones, suspended in the air. However, the only thing they led to was the center of the room, where Bumaga gazed up in awe at a gigantic swirling red portal, bathing the entire room in its blinding crimson light. It howled, gave off lightning and tried desperately to curve into different shapes, but was held in place by four glass hooks emerging from a large shining rainbow orb that stretched the vortex out, forcing it open, and absorbing the unstable energies the portal seemed to scream out of itself. The wind was stronger here as well, with multiple currents ebbing and flowing out through and around one another, spiraling around the room at great speeds. The heat that this artificial wind produced were also the cause of their own heat, being hot enough to actually be seen passing about the chamber. Bumaga took it all in for a moment, disturbed by the chaos of this place, of the pain that the rift seemed to be in. It had to be put out of it's misery. For the sake of everyone that it threatened with its usage and fluctuating power. However, no sooner did the paper man step on the first floating stone did the entire set turn from blue to a deep black, and the shadowy serpent nearest to it gave a shriek, jumped out at Bumaga, and gained the solid shape of a huge black pillar, which immediately slammed the surprised onlooker into the opposite wall of the room with the thundering crack of a ton of marble hitting bedrock. As soon as it had happened, the pillar shrank back again into its incorporeal form, and resumed its slithering circle, leaving Bumaga to crumple to the floor below, a broken heap. For a long while the mass of paper lay still, but then slowly began to lightly crinkle and stretch out into the blank faced paper man. Any solid being would have been turned into paste by the assault. Thankfully, Bumaga had nothing solid to break. As he stood up though, he heard a low rumble, as though the entire room was growling at this new surprisingly durable intruder. This time two shadow serpents leaped out from the walls, dashing toward him to pound their prey into dust. Bumaga was ready for them this time however, jumping and rolling out of the way of the two solid masses smashing into the glowing floor once again, creating yet another small crack in the stone. It appeared this was not the first time someone had dared to enter the room. But the paper man was ready to be the last. He was almost carried away however, as he partually rolled into one of the nearby wind currents, shooting his arm up, as though it wanted to leave the body it was attached to and fly away. Bumaga quickly yanked it back under his control, but this left him open to another black weight crushing him down into the rounded floor once again. his forcibly folded skin sprang up again, subconsciously folding the dazed creature back to his normal shape. Bumaga shook his head once again. It's no use! If I try to move, I fly away into the rift, but if I don't, those things hit me again! What was I thinking, coming here alone? How can I do this by myself!? He thought, as more pillars came down towards him, as he jumped out of the way again and again, finally landing into yet another current, this one lifting him up fast into the air, heading toward the roaring red jaw of the hole. "No! No I don't want to go!" the paper man yelled, panicking, and out folding his arms into wings to try and flap out of the current. To his surprise, the instant he did this another current picked up his bigger arms and pushed him out of the one he was in, smacking him into the wall again, not enough to crush him like the pillars, but with the wall he was able to push himself out of this current, shooting out of it like a wine bottle cork as the next black mass occupied the space where he had once been. ....That's it! I can do this! I can really do this! Bumaga looked around for the nearest heated air current, and popped his arms out into huge sails, zooming up into the hot tunnel as he heard the faint crack of another weight through the driving wind. His eyes darted around for another wind as the rift rose up to greet him, and found it, tliting his arms into a new position and launching himself around the room, flying from current to current as the shadows struggled to keep up with him. What was this creature, these defenses thought once by themselves to be as infallible as their mad creator. He could not be crushed, he could fly through winds that would easily dehydrate any living being after being in them for so long, and he simply would not die! Soon, Bumaga was in front of it: the glass orb which was reeling in the raw energy of the rift, bending it to its will. he held up his arms to rise up as high as he could above the object, then, quickly tucked them in flat to his sides, dive bombing straight down as he flattened his head into a sharp blade, crashing down into the rainbow sphere, slicing it in two as it shattered into dust, the shadows screaming with pain and fury for failing as they melted away, and the now unrestrained portal giving off a high pitched whistling screech as it spun faster and faster, twisting and turning into spirals and casting off great bolts of lightning that broke through the room, into the every part and even the very depths of the temple, destroying its structural integrity and cracking it into pieces before, with a deafening roar, the rift collapsing in on itself, sucked away into nothingness. Bumaga tried to stagger to his feet to shake off the impact of hitting the floor so fast, then feeling it fall away from him as the destroyed temple began crumbling to the ground, plunging him deep down into the lower parts of the shattering temple. Mama...I got it. Bumaga smiled in his thoughts as he was swallowed by darkness |

Hyoji grinned after his last attack was somewhat successful, not caring that Hart seemed to be getting the nasty habit to snark back at anything he says. But the white haired man didn't seem to want to give up just yet and before Hyoji could say anything, his opponent was once again dashing against him, the point of a knife aimed right at his face. Well, that wouldn't do. "Tch! Just give up already-yyy..!" The one-eyed man growled, ready to counter-attack when the whole temple started to tremble all of a sudden, a great rumbling sound echoing everywhere. Hyoji struggled to stay on his feet, leaning with his left hand on the nearest wall. Not having the time to think about it and realizing this was hindering Hart as well, Hyoji concentrated on his hand to the wall. A surface of ice started to spread from where his hand touched towards Hart. When the ice reached the point at the wall right in front of the white haired man's face, a small, fist shaped pillar rose from the wall. Like a real punch, it aimed to hit Hart's right temple. "Just fall already! I don't have time!" Hyoji roared in his head, biting his lower lip as he hoped this would put an end to that unnecessary fight. |

Hart thought maybe an miniature explosion had occurred on the side of his head. One moment he was heading straight towards Hyoji, the next his vision was populated by specks of black and the room was quickly tilting sideways. He hit the ground painfully and slid a little on the icy stone. The knife skittered across the floor. He felt lightheaded and dizzy. Gritting his teeth, Hart gingerly lifted his hand to his hair. It was wet. He didn't have to look to know he was bleeding. He made a move to stand, but collapsed back to the floor, his head pounding. Fighting back the urge to scream in frustration, Hart reached into his jacket for the antidote. He'd been so close. And now that stupid old man was going to take the vial from him and use it to heal that stupid little girl. The dots dancing across his vision were getting wider, and he could barely move, but that wasn't going to stop him. Hart lifted up his arm, and with as much strength as he could, threw the vial. He smiled, then let his head slump back down to the floor. It'd break and all of his opponent's efforts would be rendered useless. Hart passed out without hearing the crash. |

It had worked. With Hart distracted by the temple collapsing, he didn't see an attack coming from the side and was hit square on the side of his skull by a fist made of ice. And just like that, he fell to the floor, disoriented. The ice fist broke into nothingness right after its purpose was accomplished. "Hah!" Hyoji cried out in triumph, pumping his right fist into the air. He did it. He had won, and with that, he had the cure that would save Jumper's life in his hands. He was still anxious about it all, like... There was no guarantee the cure would really save her, given that the only thing supporting that was Arco's word. But at that particular moment, he pushed all those fears aside. He had the cure, and that was all that mattered. That is, until Hart smiled at him and promptly tossed the vial of cure as far as he could. Hyoji's grin faded at the exact moment the small flask flew past his head. It was as if time itself had slowed down. Hyoji immediately spun around and broke into a mad dash to save the vial from crashing onto the floor, and for him it seemed like the span of a few seconds were in reality an eternity. His expression was one of absolute terror at the prospect of their last hope of saving Jumper's life being lost, and so, without thinking, Hyoji dove forwards with his arms outstretched and hands open to catch it mid-fall. Unfortunately, the vial was already to far for his dive to count for anything... IF, it wasn't for a small detail. The ice bridge Hyoji had created to cross the pit of ferinus earlier was still standing strong, so when the one-eyed man dove forwards, he fell on his chest on the ice and slided forwards with added speed. Thanks to the ice, Hyoji reached the vial right before it broke on the floor on the other side of the bridge. At that point, time returned to its normal speed. "..." Hyoji, still with his belly on the ice, simply stared wide-eyed at the flask in his hands, both his lower lip and his fingers trembling in worry. "O-oh my... Wha-what the... Holy crap... That was... Close." The man muttered to himself in between heavy panting as he slowly stood up from the floor. Still trembling a bit, he had to rest his back against the closest wall, lifting up the vial in his right hand to eye level so his mind could register the fact that it was reality. "... Heh. Up yours, weasel-face." It took only a few seconds for Hyoji to recover his breath, so the man stood up straight and tucked the vial of cure inside his coat, where it would be relatively safe from harm while he went downhill back to the cabin as fast as he could. He was about to dash out of there, not minding the unconscious. Hyoji never considered so noble as to risk his own neck for someone who he knew would be better off dead. He wouldn't kill Hart, but wouldn't save him from the collapsing temple either. But it was when the sound of an explosion coming from further inside echoed along that corridor that Hyoji stopped, eye widening in realization. "... That's right! The brats are still there!" He looked over his shoulder to the opposite side of the exit, worry in his eyes. He finally had the cure in hands, after all the collective effort of him and the other... They had finally did it. But now, with the temple shaking like it was and the sounds of chaos coming from its core, Hyoji silently feared for Bumaga and Irisis, who went after the Irregular Rift. He couldn't just run away and leave them there by themselves, now could he? Unfortunately for Hyoji, just when he was in the middle of the process of turning back once again and running to help Bumaga and Irisis, he heard a familiar voice in his head. Well, he never did really hear voices, but usually when his conscience kicked in he liked to think it had a voice to nag at him. Usually, his conscience spoke in the sweet and gentle voice of his daughter, Leviathan Bluemoon. This time, however, it spoke in the loud, intimidating voice of his wife, Lilith Brievisk Bluemoon. What the Hell are you doing!? What do you think!? I'm not going to let this place fall on their heads! Hyoji retorted angrily in his mind, trying his best to move from where he stood and run towards the others' aid, but with no success. He had to wave off all the uncertainty in his mind first. You have what you and the others were fighting so fiercely for this whole week! Instead of delaying any longer, you should be running as fast as you can to give it to Jumper! I know that! I know it damn well, but... I can't just leave them behind. By the Gods... There you go again. Acting like some freaking hero, trying to save all of your friends and crap. Don't you understand!? That may look cool on comics and fairy tales, but this is real life! You guys planned this whole thing, and you're not the only one busting your ass over it! Those two knew damn well the risks they were taking and didn't hesitate, so at least respect that! Trust in them, Hyoji! For once in your life, stop trying to carry all the burden on your shoulders and trust in the people fighting by your side! ... Even now, they are counting on you. Counting on you to deliver the cure to that girl without fail. What would be their reaction if you went back and lost your last hope of saving her because you couldn't trust on your companions to look out for themselves? You know damn well what you have to do! So do it! ... Yeah. Like many other times before, Hyoji's conscience had got the better of him. And so, before anything else, the one-eyed man brought one hand closer to his mouth and shouted as hard as he could, hoping Bumaga and Irisis could hear him, even if it was very unlikely. "YO, BRATS! IF YOU DIE HERE, I'LL MAKE SURE TO KICK YOUR ASSES ON THE AFTERLIFE, YA HEAR!?" And with that said, Hyoji turned around for the last time and ran. Towards the exit, out of that blasted temple, and more importantly... To Jumper. However, Hyoji didn't pay much attention to Hart, still unconscious on the crumbling corridor. Unnoticed by the gray-haired man, a rift appeared on the floor below Hart, swallowing the white-haired man whole before it disappeared itself. ------------------------------------------------------- There were dozens of them. Obsessive Fangs and a few Venom Spears, all waiting for him at the Temple's entrance. They no doubt had been ordered to stay guard on that stop and to not allow any of the intruders to leave alive, with or without any cure. Hyoji now stood on the snow right outside the temple, hands curling into fists at his sides while his single eye glared back at the white beasts, which simply stood on guard, ready to mow him down to pieces the moment he inevitably tried to break through them. "Tch... Bastards." Hyoji muttered in anger, not much to the ferinus as to the Contracted, who had placed them there as a last ditch effort to play stupid games with them. "We held out this whole week... We fought and almost died a lot of times, most of them today... And you think you're going to stop me by throwing your stupid pets at me!? Well, SCREW YOU!!!" Hyoji darted towards the ferinus just as they did the same, spikes of ice forming themselves along both of his arms. He would not stop now. For Jumper, and to validate everyone's efforts... He wouldn't allow himself to stop now, not even for a second. |

She couldn't let herself stop now. not even for a second. Even as her darting run slowed to a stumbling trudge, Jumper kept moving forward. Her eyes had a docile look to them as she continued walking, each step a fight against the snow. "Can't stop," thought the brunette."Won't stop. Can't stop..." The cloth wrapped around her forehead flapped it's ends unforgiving as the wind played with her hair. Each strand of her bangs whipped around her face, stinging her skin with each strike. Jumper stared at the white landscape from squinted eyes, sometimes closing completely for small periods of time. All she had now, all that filled her mind, was the need to move forward. Sound. Jumper raised her head to the distant cry's of someone yelling. The wind mixed and howled along with the unfamiliar sound, masking it's origin. She continued walking, paying it no mind but soon, the source was so close there was no mistaking it. It was a man's grunts and yells and not just any man. Jumpers heart sped up and her trudging turned into a clumsy speed walk. Puffs of breath escaped her hood like smoke from a train as she guided herself with resurrected hope. The temple was next to fill her sight and not to long after, Hyoji himself. She gasped, her mouth the shape of a smile as she watched him battle. He was still alive. Unfortunately, this was as far as she could go. In a single spasm of stabbing pain, Jumper stopped in her tracks, doubling over. Her arms were against her chest, hands contorted into claws grabbing at her heart. With nothing to keep the blankets together, the ones on the outer layer started falling onto the snow. Jumper quickly fallowed suit. The snow crunched under her weight, a few blankets still wrapped around her with the rest trapped beneath her body. They flapped like flags as the wind tried to take them away, snow quickly making it's own blanket on top of her. Even with the thickening ice comforter nature was supplying, Karl's orange coat stayed visible and ever moving, fighting the snow with every flip and flap. "H-hhhe. Hhhhe..!" She tried to call out, still in the fetal position. This pain was a different kind of pain. Much like the episodes the little brunette had before, it seemed to radiate throughout her entire body, keeping her from moving. it burned behind her eyes and scratched under her skin but eventually passed with time. This pain was not going away. It kept it's grip on her insides and pulsed with her blood. Eventually, Jumpers teeth unclenched, her hands relaxed and her breathing became shallow. Her once healthy, glowing skin was now a pale blue as her body lay still in the wintry ground, no longer shivering. |

He wouldn't give up, and so he kept on fighting. The ice spikes and blades he created on his arms were stained black by the blood of the various ferinus attacking all at once, but Hyoji didn't stop or falter even for a second. He had the cure, and now he had to take it to Jumper. He would do it, and not with possibility of die trying on his mind. He just would do it, and nothing would stop him. And at that point, three colors stood out: The massive whiteness of the snow-covered Glacies, which helped to hide the white ferinus; the black of Hyoji's coat and the creatures' blood; and the bright clear blue shinning from Hyoji's left eye. The glow was so intense that, unlike other times in which only his iris changed color, the whole eyeball seemed like a single ball of blue light. "Outta! The! WAY!" The man shouted as he used one of the lounging Obsessive Fangs as a footstool to jump on top of a Venom Spear and, creating new spikes of ice around his right arm, shoved it down the creature's back. The Spear screamed in pain, walked around dizzily for a moment and then fell on its side, allowing Hyoji to jump off and slash another two Fangs apart with blades of ice on his left hand and his right foot during his landing. It didn't take long after that and the last ferinus of the wave, an unfortunate Obsessive Fang that got its skull crushed into the snow by a hammer of ice, was dealt with, and by that point Hyoji had managed to drag the fight with him a good distance away from the temple. Now he just had to make the rest of the way to the cabin, hoping that Jumper would still be physical entity by then. No, she would, of course she would. "... Just a little longer, and I-whoa!" Hyoji told himself as he began running down the mountain again, only to trip on something, falling face first on the ground and tossing up a small mass of snow with his weight. Alert, he immediately turned around on the snow as he brought his right arm up to skewer any ferinus dumb enough to insist in getting in his way. Only it wasn't a ferinus. It was Jumper. "..." Hyoji froze. He who could freeze any enemy and break them into a pile of rocks froze in place when he saw the unconscious girl amidst blankest and even Karl's own coat, half-buried in the snow. The blue glow left his left eye and his scowl turned into an expression of unrelenting terror. "... No... nonono..." "NO! JUMPER!" And all of a sudden he sprung to life again rising into a kneeling position as he cradled the girl in his right arm, using his left hand to turn her face so he could take a better look at it. She was lacked out, and her skin was turning blue. Bad sign. Very, very bad sign. "Come on, girl..! Here! I got the cure!" The gray haired man reminded himself of that very fact, taking the vial out of his coat pocket and pulling out the cork with his teeth. He adjusted Jumper into a sitting position so he would raise her head and brought the vial to the girl's mouth, allowing its contents to slide down her throat, careful so she wouldn't drown. The glass flask, now empty, was promptly tossed aside. "C'mon Melody, fight it off! It's only too late if you let it be! Come on!" Hyoji said as he lightly shook the girl by the shoulders, then realizing she was unprotected from the cold, and since the blankets were on the snow, he simply took off his own snow coat and wrapped it around Jumper. "Damn! Wake up, already!" He shouted, his face showing both anger and fear. "We busted our asses all this week to get the fucking cure! We were still in time, so wake up! C'mon, Melody, open your eyes! Open your eyes..! Open up..." And then everything began to just rush back. Their collective effort throughout the week, how everyone seemed shaken and tired and still kept on going, Arco's horrible laugh, Jumper being stung by the Venom Spear, and then even further than that... Moments of the war back in his world. Brothers and sisters-in-arms dying around him, innocent people he met the same they getting caught up in the destruction and chaos, his Godfather's unmoving body peacefully sitting against a wall, still bleeding. Things he couldn't avoid, causalities that he couldn't avert, lives that he couldn't save. And this one, right now, was shaping up to be another failure to add to the pile. Despite all the power and strength he had to destroy and end lives... Was he simply that powerless to save one? "Please, Melody... Please..." Hyoji repeated like a mantra, realizing it was becoming difficult to see with his only working eye tearful as it was. He didn't care about masculinity or pride at that moment, and the tears proceeded to run down his face, free. The anger and the fear also had long since left his features, giving place to sadness and despair. He had held back, stayed strong for the sake of the others. But he couldn't take losing that innocent life in his arms. And so he hugged the girl's unmoving body, holding her head to his shoulder with his right hand and hoping the cure would do its freaking job, that she wouldn't dissolve into nothing like that monster had said she would. Hell, he just hoped something would happen already. "... Don't leave us, girl... Not here, not now... Come on, Melody... Come on... Levi..." |

Melody opened her eyes. Everything was bright. It was like staring into the blinding white fields of Glacies only there was no cold, no wind, not even sound. There was nothing and yet, clearly something encompassed the entire area she stood. Her cloths and hair seemed to float as if emerged in water, swaying and twisting like time itself was relaxed. Jumper took a couple steps back and looked around, her reactions similar to a relocated animal. "Hello?" Her voice echoed, getting slightly louder before loosing energy. Before her voice disappeared completely, two orbs of light appeared in front of her. They started to grow in brightness until Melody felt the need to shield her eyes from their intense glow. Eventually, the lights faded away and in their place stood a man and a woman. When Jumper pulled her arm away from her face, she gasped. Tears started welling up in her eye as she beamed at the two people. It wasn't long before the little brunette couldn't contain herself. "Mom!" Yelled Melody, opening her arms as she latched onto one of the beings. "Dad!" Thy both smiled down at their daughter warmly, her dad wrapping his arms around the jubilant girls small frame as her mother pressed her head against Jumpers hair, stroking her back. "I missed you guys so much." Melody said, her body starting to shake with emotion. "So very much..." Her grip on her fathers waist was tight and unyielding. for a wile, they all stood there wile Jumper let her tears soak into her fathers shirt. eventually, her mother spoke. She mouthed the word 'Melody' as she moved hair away from Jumpers face, gentle and kind like only a mother could. Melody reacted as if she'd heard her name and continued to listen as her mother talked to her. Still no sound could be heard yet her message was going out to just the person who needed to hear it. "Go back?" Melody repeated her mothers lost words. "But I don't wanna go back! I finally found you again!" Her parents looked at each other for a moment, both having expressions of concern. Pulling away from his child, Jumpers father looked down into her eyes, saying his own invisible words. The little brunette stared and listened, keeping a confused expression as he tried explaining the situation. At the end of his talk, Jumpers father lifted his hand out, causing an area directly in front of him and Melody to swirl. light raced around in a circle, giving of a blue glow that softly played against their features. The ball stretched out into a disk shape that, in the middle of it, showed a tragic scene. It was Hyoji. He was cradling the fallen Jumper in his arms, pleading and demanding she wake up. Melody stepped away from her fathers arms and stared at the images. Hyoji's words echoed through-out the plain, each emotion charged word inescapably clear. For a wile, Jumper stood there, seemingly transfixed and almost lost until, suddenly, she spoke. "I get it." she said, still facing the blue looking glass. Melody turned around to face her parents again, eyes watering. She was unmistakably sad and yet, there was a grin of understanding at the ends of her mouth. "I'll be really good, I promise. Then, we can be together again, You'll see! You, you, me, and big brother." Her parents drifted over, bother embarrassing their child with love and longing. Each kissed her forehead and hugged her deeply, Jumper returning the efforts. "I love you guys." she said, her vision fading. ... It was cold and dark. Melodys eyes fluttered under her eyelids before she shifted in Hyojis coat. A gust of wind blew across her face, making Jumpers bangs tickle her forehead. The brunette winced a little, wrinkling her nose at the disturbance. Slowly, here eyes opened. "... Hi." |

Hyoji, unlike his usual though guy behavior, was too emotionally shaken to notice the slight change in Jumper's body's temperature, but it was when he clearly felt her move that the gray-haired man's only functional eye shot open. He let the girl go of his bear hug and held her body by the shoulders at a distance he could look directly at her face... And then she opened her eyes and said hi. "... A-ah... Y-you're..." He stuttered in his shock. She was alive! For the love of all saints, she was alive! Hyoji didn't know what to say, and for a seconds just held the girl by her shoulders, stuttering incoherently as the tears of grief coming down his left eye became tears of joy and his mouth contorted into a shaky smile. This was probably the most vulnerable anyone besides his sister and his wife ever saw him. "Oh, Me-Melody... I'm so... so..." "... So pissed off!" And then he promptly turned back to the old Hyoji, known and loved by all. The one-eyed man glared and grimaced at the girl in his arms, shaking her very slightly, since she was still very fragile after recovering from the Venom Spear's poison. "What the Hell were you thinking!? Walking uphill in the middle of a blizzard!? What if you fell into a hole, or... Or some Ferinus attacked you, or... Or... I dunno what more could have happened!?" He shouted like a concerned parent, and the fact that his hair was a mess and tears still streamed down from his left eye only made his outburst comical rather than intimidating. "And there's another thing! I..! I'm..." Hyoji finally cooled down, his shoulders dropping along with his gaze, as the rage in his face gave place to grief. "I'm sorry, I..! I'm sorry... It's my fault you had to suffer like that... And I almost screwed it up again. I'm lucky you're even awake now... I failed ya." |

Jumper smiled back at Hyoji as he tried to find his words. She could tell he was happy to see her and it was only a matter of time before he stuttered out all his feelings. however, things didn't quite go that way. His emotion quickly snapped to angry as he yelled at the brown haired girl in front of him. Jumper shrunk a little in the coat, lowering her head and raising her shoulders. "so much for being happy. she thought as Hyoji continued to scold her for walking in the snow. She looked away from his angry face as he continued but soon after doing so, His tone changed. Like someone turning a nob on a oven, Hyoji's temper dissolved into shame and sadness. Jumper lifted her head out of the coats, analyzing his words. She'd heard of this before. How some people act angry instead of sad to hide how they really feel. Silently, Jumper waited for Hyoji to finish his self pitying, all the wile staring at him. even after he'd finished, The brunette continued looking at him with that in-between gaze. Then, all of a sudden, Jumper grabbed his nose. She pulled his head a little closer her hers, guaranteeing eye contact and began. "It's not your fault. You didn't fail. I'm alive." She gave his nose a little wiggle before releasing him from her grip. "So quit being a worry wort and lets go help everyone!" with that, Jumper started pushing away from her silver haired hero, gradually getting to her feet. She stumbled a bit, unaccustomed to the extra weight of Hyoji's coat but soon, she was standing upright. Her little frame was completely overshadowed by the coats, only her shoes and head seemed to poke out, giving her a turtle appearance. "Common Mr.Hyoji! We gotta go save everybody!" |

Hyoji was looking down, but was forced to look straight at Jumper's face when the girl grabbed his nose, which also startled him. "Whoa-the Hell!?" He exclaimed but then fell silent as she told him that all the bad things that happened that week weren't his fault, despite his fierce belief that he was the one to blame. When she let go of his nose, he brought his right hand to it in a reflex, but kept his gaze on Jumper as she got up. She was still pretty roughed up by all this "near death experience" crap, but otherwise was back to her energetic self. That sight alone was enough to brighten Hyoji's expression. "Man..." The gray haired man leaned back on his elbows while giving a long, heavy sigh as he gazed upwards, into the sky. "... Chick, babysitting ya ain't no easy task, you know? You almost died two minutes ago, so don't go hopping around like that." He looked back at her, but now there was a noticeable - even if rather tired - smile on his face. "Of course we're gonna help the others, but it'll be a quicker ride if I carry ya, so..." Hyoji didn't manage to complete his sentence, as his good eye grew wide and his jaw dropped. This was because he saw a massive ball of what could be described as swirling, black energy. The dark sphere came flying uphill from behind Jumper, and would've struck her right in the back if Hyoji hadn't leaped at the last second and shielded her with his own body. After that, all went black... ----------------------------------------- On the spot where Hyoji and Jumper were just a few seconds ago now was a crater, deep enough to reveal the darkened, infertile soil of Glacies beneath the few feet of snow. Jumper and Hyoji were laying motionless on the snowy ground a single meter away from the crater, the old man still protecting the young life. They weren't dead, just knocked out. Well, he half expected the disgusting girl to die like she should have, but it didn't really matter whether she was breathing or not. It was never about her. "... Hm. And with these two, there's only one left." The Colorful Priest Arco Baleno noted nonchalantly as he approached the fallen bodies, taking his time to poke Jumper's head with the extremity of his climbing staff. After a few moments of that childish behavior, Arco simply turned around and began to make his way downhill, not even sparing a glance back to see Hyoji and Jumper being swallowed by a rift, which disappeared soon after. "Hmhmhm~" Arco beamed he walked. Everything had happened as he wrote in the script. There was no questioning that this time, victory was his. Now he just needed to go proclaim it to the losing party. |
