Antoinette woke right before dawn and began to get ready, her heart pounding. This was it. After months of renovations, advertising, complications, and hard work, her cafe was finally opening. Her dream was on the verge of coming true! She slipped into a quick shower, got dressed, tied up her hair into its usual neat bun, and went downstairs into the kitchen. Though she felt too excited to eat, she forced herself to at least have an apple. She'd need something in her stomach to keep her energy up after all. The bread she had put out to rise was ready for baking. She put the rolls in the large oven, set the timer, and then went off to prepare everything else. The brunette heard Clara in the cafe, getting the chairs down from the tables and wiping off the counters. She smiled and started making the soups for the day. Today was a simple chicken noodle and french onion. Fresh coffee was brewed, as was tea and hot cocoa. She continued cooking and baking for several hours until she was sure she'd have plenty of food to last. Clara popped her head into the kitchen and snagged a fresh muffin. "Ready, Ant~? Today's the big day~!! I think there are even some people outside already~! I'm gonna start a fire though. It's awful chilly in there." Ant nodded and smiled brightly. Her best friend grinned back in response and darted out. The red headed girl flipped the closed sign to "Open!" and unlocked the front door. Several people drifted in, the first being a rather sleepy cat girl. Elloise was not happy to be awake. It was early, cold, wet out from the melting snow, and she hadn't even had time to have her morning coffee. Tori had told her to meet her for breakfast when the cafe opened, so where was she? "Hello there, you must be one of the owners of this place. I'm Elloise Renard for the City's newspaper and I'll be reviewing this place. Please bring me some coffee and something sweet." Clara nodded happily. "Sure thing, Lily~! I'm Clara McCulty. I help run this place, but the owner is Ant over there. She bought the whole thing with her own money and funded it by her lonesome~!" Ellie blinked and looked toward where the taller girl had pointed. Behind the counter was another girl she hadn't even noticed before. "I see....well then...wait, Lily? Please, if you're going to call me something, call me Ellie. In any case, I'll take a seat over here. I'm waiting for some friends to join me. Now, hurry up with that coffee...." Clara nodded again with a smile far too cheery for this time of day then rushed off to get the coffee. Ellie slid into a booth facing the door and waited for Tori to arrive. Perhaps she'd even bring her husband. Ant smiled as she served the customers that came in. Though she was shy by nature, her at-work persona allowed her to at least talk to people. They didn't seem to really be paying attention to her anyway. Most just ordered without even bothering to make conversation. It was a bit rude, but made working easier. She was in great spirits. It was so early, and they already had a few people~! Perhaps luck was finally on her side! The bell jingled again and the petite girl turned to smile at the newest patron of her brand-new cafe. (The cafe is now open~! Feel free to post as you like~! It can be in either paragraph like this or in MSN style. Enjoy~!) |

"Ah, it's finally open!" Tori Fell announced enthusiastically as she stood outside the cafe, surveying the building. "And so many people here, too. It seems everyone's been needing a nice place to hang out. I do hope it survives. Hmm... 'Cafe Richard'." A wide grin on her face, Tori turned to her husband, one arm looped around his. She squeezed it gently, excited that they were finally able to visit the new business, and walked inside with him. It was very busy inside - it seemed half the city was packed into the quaint building. Scanning the crowd, she spotted Ellie at one booth, looking like she was going to kill someone if she didn't get coffee in the next three and a half seconds. However, she wasn't worried, and quickly made her way over to the cat girl. "Good morning, Elloise. Sorry I'm late!" Tori greeted, sliding to the inside of the booth before correcting herself. "Well, it'll be good once you get some caffeine in you. Don't worry, I won't ask any questions until you've had a cup or two." |

(This place... what a strange sort of place, where there is a bright light in the sky, and the streets are made of stone, and the buildings are surely taller than that of the Castle! Could I find safety in such a place? Oh... a cafe? "Cafe Richard" ... It... seems safe enough, I suppose? There might be no harm in entering?) "Do I dare? Do I not dare?" The teenager murmured to herself, now nervously gripping one of her many thick textbooks. "Surely there can be no harm in entering, the sign says that they are open after all. A Cah-feh.... I've never heard of such a thing. I see... edibles on the inside, and people, at least... three? Four? I cannot see so clearly. I should ponder, what's a Rich-hard?" Clearly, English wasn't her first language, how she managed to speak the language so different from her own German-Latin lovechild without much of an accent was... surprising, in the least. If anything, she sounded more British English than anything. Sure, her 'ch's were more gutteral, and at times she forgot that 'w's didn't sound like 'v's, but otherwise, there was no obvious accent to be found. Finally, she nervously pushed through the door, grimancing as the pressure folded in on her tiny hands under the thick restraints of her gloves. Wordlessly, she took a seat at a table, nearer to the register and the counter, but off to the side. Biting her lip, she looked to the nearest person behind the counter, a taller girl. Merely looked, but the teenager was far too mortified to speak. Instead, she channeled her nervous energy into gripping her textbook, the black leather around her knuckles seeming to stretch and lighten like actual skin would. Theory and Practise of Magic by Verwirrter A. Schwarz? What sort of book is that? |

(For you people not in the know on MSN I am restarting my Fredrick development sooo this is the first time he has ever set foot in Ant's Cafe) The man bounded up a hill and down it, he had a 1000 watt smile on his face, the sun was bright in the sky and nighttime was an eternity in the future. It was a new town and a new day. Two of his favorite things. He started humming a tune aloud and had even a small bounce to his step. If you didn't know better you would have had no clue he was homeless. Fredrick Renaldi rounded the corner of the street where he was headed for the park. On a bright sunny day like this he was assured that people would be walking through there, He would find a nice spot for himself plenty out of the way of everyone out to have fun but not far enough away to make it seem dangerous to approach him or to not be within earshot of his talents. Suddenly his stomach also woke up to greet the new day with a monsterious gluttionious growl like the lurching beast it could be after 3 days without nourishment. The musician's smile faltered for a bit while he clasped at his stomach, he really should have searched for food the night prior instead of star gazing but there was little he could do about it now. He had no currency in his pockets to purchase food of his own, and stealing was out of the question. He simply would have to wait till the end of the day to purchase something with the donations from passerbys. It was now that he noticed the group of people entering the cafe on his right, he turned and looked through the window and noticed that it was packed with people, this being its "GRAND OPENING". A thought crawled through his mind. 'Grand openings of places normally come with free samples!~' And while stealing food was out of the question....merely sampling was totally within the bounds of reasonableness. He walked around the building and stored his instrument behind some boxes in an alleyway. He was only going to be inside for a moment and he didn't want it getting in the way. He walked up to the door and pushed his way inside, grinning to be greeted with the smell of baked goods and the simple sound of the chime bell as he walked in. He looked over at the counter to see two women sprinting around filling out orders, he then looked around at the other customers who were all set up at their own tables. Suddenly something twisted out in the corner of his eye, a cat tail wagged it's way into his vision. He looked up at the person it was attached to and his jaw dropped a bit, he walked a bit closer to her and then felt a ball of joy rise in his throat. "E...Ellie?! Is that you? It's me....Fredrick!~" This was the first time he saw one of his old companions from the Riftstream in 4 years. |

Ellie glanced up at Tori and her husband and let out a soft huff. "Morning, Chickie. Impressive place, huh? And this whole thing was set up by those two girls by themselves. My next article's gonna be a big hit.....Provided I get some damn ser-" She was cut off by Clara arriving with a fresh pot of coffee, looking a bit more frazzled than earlier. "Sorry 'bout that Miss Ellie, lots more people than we expected...." She sighed and poured Ellie a mug of coffee, then turned to smile at the new arrivals. "Oh, hey there~! I'm Clara, can I get you anything? It might be a bit of a wait though...what I wouldn't give for a little help around here..." She shrugged. "Actually, hold that thought, I have a few more tables to check. Be back as soon as I can, alright~?" She handed Tori a couple of menus and darted away. Clara's next stop was at the table of a nervous looking teenager in a pair of gloves. "Hello there, little miss~! I'm Clara and I'll be your waitress today. Here's a menu~ Can I get you anything to drink to start out with? Coffee? Hot cocoa? Maybe a fresh cuppa tea?" The tall redhead placed a menu down in front of Harra, smiling brightly. The younger girl looked so nervous, it was adorable~ Ant also darted from table to table, bringing back their orders. Thankfully, most were for simple breakfast items she had prepared before hand and had kept warm. She regretted not having the time to hire more employees...if they survived the day, she'd definitely find some. The quiet young woman was getting exhausted, and they'd only been open for a half an hour! Ellie added as much cream as she could to her coffee and a little bit of sugar. She took a sip and sighed blissfully. "Ah....much better~ Good coffee too, and the cream is definitely fresh. I approve." She looked around and her ears twitched. "Hmm...maybe I should volunteer to help out though....I feel kinda bad for them...." A familiar voice made her turn. No way.... "Oh dear Mother!! Fred, is that you?! Geeze, look at you~! It's been way too long, hun!" She stood and hugged the guitarist, purring a little. "Ahaha, still a hobo I see~ It's really good to see you...ah, and you remember Tori...though, before you freak out, it's okay. I know it's hard to believe, but she's really nice now, I promise." Elloise looked over at Tori. "Right?" |

Tori was only too glad when Ellie's mug was filled with steaming coffee - that meant the cat girl would wake up a bit more and not be so hot-headed. She was planning on making some witty comment about that, but they were interrupted by a stranger - a smelly one, at that. She glanced at this man, who Ellie seemed to actually recognize and did a quick once-over. This...hobo seemed familiar, and she called him Fred? Something deep in the back of her mind was working hard to put two and two together, but no matter how hard she tried, she kept coming up with five. Tori simply could not recall how she met him. So, she decided to treat him like a complete stranger. "Hmm? Ah, yes. That switch happened a long time ago." With that she turned to Fredrick, extending a hand. "Ellie seems to be friends with you, and you seem familiar, but I honestly can't remember who you are. Have we met before?" |

Fredrick's heart dropped in his chest a little at the mention of the word "Tori" he looked over at the woman mildly confused at her appearance, she was wearing a completely different set of clothing, didn't seem to give off an aura of dread that the old Tori did...and there were 2 really large...somethings missing from her. But the face was recognizably hers no doubt. "I...I...I'm Fredrick....Fredrick Renaldi....y...you don't remember me? I...I remember you....not a night goes by that I don't remember what you made me do on Glacies...." His words trailed off after this, of all the people he could meet. Tori was not the one he ever thought he would see again. He felt a tiny lump of anger in his chest towards the woman but was trying to keep it down like the bile it was. His face was starting to contort a bit. 'How could she not remember me!? It was only 4 years ago! This is absurd! This woman...she...she ruined my life!' "You...you don't remember anything about the village? and the people?....and the little girl?...." Fredrick's fist clenched tightly, not sure what he was going to do with it. |

Ellie stood back to take another sip of coffee and sighed, her ears drooping. She had forgotten about the Glacies incident...well, more like tried to put it out of her mind. "Fred, sit down, please. Tell me how you've been! Trust me, that Tori...died long ago. Please, bringing up old troubles like that will only hurt both of you more." She sighed softly and her tail flicked with nervousness. "How about I buy you some breakfast, yeah? We can talk about this more later. I swear to you on the Mother Crystal, however, that this person you see before you is not the same monster that made you do that. She got hers in the end. You know that as well as I do....What happened to her and Arco." The cat tugged him into the booth to sit next to her, hoping she could keep things calm. |

The absolute sorrow that flooded the room shocked Tori into silence. She withdrew her hand but still stared at Fredrick, mouth parted slightly as she struggled to recall the scene he was thinking of. However, the Glacies bit rang a bell. Khyron had mentioned that place long ago when...horrible things had happened. Things that her memory refused to purge even after so many years. "I'm... I'm sorry, Mr. Fredrick." Picking up the menu, she flipped it open and began to look for something to eat, though it was more of a way for her to pull her gaze away from the man across the table than out of hunger. "Ah, that's right," she murmured, reaching each line in the menu, though she did not process the words. "It was four years ago for you wasn't it? Let me explain briefly. I've actually aged several thousand years in that time. You see, my husband can control time and we've traveled back to this age just last year as a sort of... extended vacation. I don't mean to be rude, but what you experienced happened so long ago - for me - that I've forgotten almost all of the details. "So really, I am sorry for what I may have done to you. I can see how much it troubles you." |

Fredrick listened intently as both Ellie and Tori explained their sides, the rage in his stomach subsided a bit into a gentle numbness. "If what you say is true...I guess I can be ok with that... I...I forgive you..." It felt utterly bizzare for him to say it, there was a moment of silence that followed which was so awkward that he had to try and break it. "And I would love some breakfast Ellie if you don't mind that is. I'm absolutely starving and very interested in hearing about what you have been up to these past few years." He said in a chipper voice. "Oh and you too Tori, I plan on staying in this city for a little bit I might as well get to know you better. A lot better then we did back on the Isle of Rifts that is" He took a seat at the table and glanced over the menu, everything on it sounded delicious, even the words he couldn't pronounce. He had always been a fan of baked goods if only for the fact that they were easy to carry around and lasted quite a long time. He then turned to Tori and remembered something that she had said. "Wait....You got married!? To who?!" he was utterly dumbfounded. |

The door to the café opened up once again, this time in a hurry, and in a hurry it was closed. "Phew... I-I didn't know it would be this cold..." The redheaded newcomer mumbled between clattering teeth. Hiro really disliked cold, and when he saw the recently opened café with the familiar light of a fireplace shining through the glass window, his first instinct was to go inside. He gave a heavy sigh and shook his shoulders slightly as a way of shaking of the cold, but quickly cleaned his throat discreetly when he realized he was attracting a few odd looks. Clearly, a man with a robotic arm carrying a sword in this day and age wasn’t the most common thing to come around. “Excuse me.” He said shortly to some clients that were in his way before being allowed to pass and went to sit on the closest table to the fireplace available. With a small smile to express his comfort in being close to a source of heat, he took a seat and took his sheathed sword off his belt, and placed it on the table to make it easier to sit down. “This is actually quite the charming place…” Hiro mused, crossing his legs and folding his hands over his lap as he waited patiently for service. He understood that that place was kind of full, and he certainly wasn’t in a hurry to go back to the cold, so he simply sat back and enjoyed the ambiance, even closing his eyes. |

Ant heard the bell jingle and noticed a flash of red move over toward a table near the fire place. It was still a bit chilly out, despite the signs of spring. After bringing another table their orders, she walked over to the new arrival, a menu in her hands. She stopped in front of the man and smiled, speaking in a soft but professional tone. "Hello and welcome. May I start you off with something to drink?" It wasn't until then that she actually noticed him, smile slightly wavering as she did so. For a moment, the world seemed to stop. The background noise of the busy cafe disappeared and the young woman felt a blush rise on her cheeks. Something about him seemed so familiar, yet she was sure they had never met. She wanted to say something, anything! Yet words failed her. Instead, she simply stared, trying to figure out what was so interesting about him. A bump from a customer walking past brought her back into reality. Everything returned to as it was, as if no time had passed at all. Antoinette blinked a few times, wondering just what had occurred. Ellie smiled, happy that things hadn't gotten out of hand. She sipped the last of her coffee and made a decision. "Hey, I'd love to catch up....but honestly, this place is crazy crowded and there's no way these girls alone can manage to serve all these people. I'm gonna offer to help at least a little bit." She stood and walked over to Clara. The two chatted for a moment and Clara grinned. The redhead nodded and pointed to a door, into which the catgirl entered. Clara returned to Tori's table, her notepad held up and a relieved smile on her face. "Well, are you all ready to order~? Miss Ellie says it's on her so get whatever you like~!" A few moments later, Ellie re-emerged with her hair in a ponytail and wearing an apron. She had started as a waitress when she first arrived in Revenant, so she knew the basics. Within a couple of minutes, the Crystalian was waiting tables as well. |

"...! Oh... th-thank you, Madame." The dark-eyed girl reached up, taking the menu with shaky gloved hands. Truth be told, she could barely hold the thing up, her tiny wrists and disfigured hands-- even with the metal supports of the gloves- were terribly weak on their own. It took every last ounce of her strength just to hold up the menu. Poor Harra, Magic had treated her well, but at a terrible price, her body could not be weaker. "If... if you wouldn't mind, I... I have heard about the wonders of hot cocoa. Would... you mind sparing me a cup?" She tried to smile, the corners of her mouth twitching upwards, in a sort of pathetic attempt to do so. Frankly, the place was starting to fill up, and Harra didn't know how to deal with large groups. Finally, she pulled out a large gold coin from her large sleeve. "Here... this... this ought cover the cost, Madame Clara? It... it is a pleasure to meet you, by the by, I am... I am most pleased." |

Of all the places Jake had been, this city was one of the most diverse in it's culture, if you could even call it that. After managing to bargain a small apartment, he also managed to get a job delivering certain packages for his landlord. Mr. Finch was not the nicest man Jake had ever met, and in fact was one of the crookedest people he had ever met. But he payed Jake and also gave him a discount on his room so he didn't have much room for complaints, and at least he wasn't living in the slums. It was for this reason that he had been sent to the newly opened Cafe Richard. the blonde peered over his aviator sunglasses at the place then shrugged and went inside. He searched the tables and glanced down at the photo he had been given. Once he looked back up, Jake spotted her over at a table with a customer. He walked over and held out his delivery to her. "Hello? Ms. Antoinette? I have a letter for you and a package" |

Fredrick watched as Ellie left him alone at the table with Tori. It felt awkward sitting there with this woman he had despised after so many years but he felt a wave of understanding looking into her eyes that he never saw before those years ago, like he could forgive her for what she made him do. Luckily then Clara showed up, she asked him what he wanted off the menu, he looked up at her face and his heart skipped a beat. She was one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen in his life, his tongue then proceeded to tie itself in a triple winsor knot. "I...I...I...I'll have.." he managed to blurt out before actually looking at the menu, most of the words he couldn't read he was shaking his hand too much. "Actually... Whatever you recommend sounds great!" He was very nervous around this girl for some reason, he hoped she didn't think he was a freak, so he suddenly turned to Tori "Really? A Husband? Who is the lucky man eh?~ When do I get a chance to meet him?" |
