Julia ran out of her apartment the moment she realized it. She sprinted down the streets in the middle of the night, dashed through the alleys, and finally, after running all the way there, becoming a sweaty, panting mess that she absolutely hated being on any lesser occasion, she pulled out her phone and dialed Mai's cell number, looking up at the girl's building in the fancy neighborhood. "Come on...come on....pick up....." Julia grumbled impatiently, waiting for the smaller girl to answer the phone. Her entire body seemed to be on edge, just waiting for the tiny click that would mean that Mai had picked up. |

The bright, incessant jingle of her mobile roused her from a sleep that was much deeper than usual. Odd, since she usually slept fairly lightly. Mai blinked at her phone sleepily, trying to decipher the characters flashing across the screen. "Ju… li-" Her eyes widened. Julia. Why was she calling? How long had it been? A week? Mai had never had the courage to ring her herself, and had let it run on too long. She was convinced that Julia - bright, happy, hot as hell Julia - would have given up on her. She pressed the answer button, rolling back over onto her bed and cradling the phone to her ear. "….hello?" Was she angry? Was that what this was? … but who called at a crazy hour like this? She blinked at her alarm clock until the glowing digits had sunk into her brain. Two am. |

Julia was so anxious that she almost didn't hear Mai's tiny voice expressing the greeting. She literally jumped for joy when the girl's voice registered in her mind, and she yelled straight into the phone. "MAI IT'S SNOWING IT'S SNOWING YOU NEED TO GET OUT HERE!!!!" She didn't get a lot of chances to be this ecstatic over things, but when she did, she took it to the absolute extreme. Even after her outburst into the phone the excess energy had her hopping in place until more poured out from her lungs. "I'm outside your apartment and I swear it's beautiful! Get out here quick quick quick!!!!" |

Mai jumped and held the phone a little away from her ear, but it took a moment for her to register what she was saying. "Snow? Really?" Julia could probably hear some rustling as she rolled out of bed and went to her window, drawing back the curtains to look outside. She was right, the snow was thick enough to muffle any sound from the streets, and since it was so late there was little to begin with. Nothing but a large blanket of unbroken snow which reflected the lamps in the street, taking on blue shadows and golden glows here and there. "Wow… it's beautiful." Mai blinked, catching sight of someone just under her window, jumping and waving excitedly. "There's someone… is that you??" A pink flush started from her cheeks and went up to her ears, she paused, looking down at herself (She was only wearing a nightie) before looking back at Julia and clutching the phone. "W-wait! I'm not dressed!" She hurriedly flung the curtain back into place, scrambling to find some clothes and brushing her hair with the light still off, she didn't want to wake Hotaru. It took her ages to decide what to wear, but she settled on a light pink fluffy wool tunic with little heart holes everywhere, a darker pink-grey coat, and long boots. She wrapped her face in an overlong white scarf and added some gloves, before she opened her door. "U-um… hello." She smiled nervously. |

While she waited for Mai, Julia started balling up more and more snow to create the base of a snowman. She'd always wanted to do that, but never had enough time or snow to really do it. It was a lot harder than she'd imagined, but she did it, and the moment she heard Mai's voice behind her, she let out an excited squeal and abandoned the project. "MAI IT'S SNOWING!" she let out excitedly, nearly tackling the smaller girl in an exuberant hug. She picked Mai up in one sweeping motion, spinning her around and grinning like a child who'd been given more candy than she could possibly eat. "We have a million different things to do now, while no one else's up to ruin the snow with their footprints!" |

Mai squeaked, going even redder when the other girl picked her up and swung her around. Wow, this… this was… was she dreaming? She certainly felt awake, it was cold enough. "I'm sorry for… n-not calling…" She was still somewhat squished in Julia's arms, her hands pinned by her sides. "I meant to I- I just…" It just sounded like such an excuse. "I just… I'm just a coward. |

"You're not a coward hun, you're just a girl who likes to be called instead of doing the calling." Julia winked, leaning in to kiss the smaller girl on the cheek. "Don't worry! It's snowing and you can make it up to me!" Julia let go, turning to dart back into the white fluff when her knees began to wobble. All of that running and jumping had caught up to her, so rather than fighting it, she just turned and flopped into the snow with a wide grin, waving her arms and legs slowly to make a snow angel. "Hope you didn't think you were getting any sleep tonight, hun~" |

Mai touched her cheek gingerly, this was going so fast, and it still felt like a dream… being called out in the middle of the night to play in the snow, with Julia waiting under her window too. She couldn't help giggling when the other woman flopped down in the snow. The double meaning behind the sleep comment didn't escape her, but before her face could heat up in another blush she flopped down next to her. "This is more fun." She copied Julia's movements, sitting up when she was finished to take a look. It was a bit clumsy but not too bad. She spied the snowman, and began rolling one for his body. "I can't risk going back into the kitchen for a carrot…" She huffed a bit as she heaved the body onto the base, dusting the snow off her gloves. "We'll have to make do." |

Julia stayed on her back out of pure exhaustion, but kept waving her arms and legs to make it seem more like she was legitimately trying to make an absolutely perfect snow angel. When Mai made the comment about the carrot, Julia sat up, a sad expression crawling across her face. "Aww... I'm sorry I forgot to bring one..." She sputtered a little bit as a loud giggle escaped her, and from the inside of her jacket she pulled a carrot that she'd grabbed from her fridge before coming. "Psych~ I try to come prepared for everything when it snows. The only thing I didn't bring was a hot date to enjoy it with, and it looks like you brought that, hun." |

Mai placed a head on top, and brought out her handkerchief, wrapping it around the head like a bonnet before adding her scarf. "Now she'll be warm~" She nodded, patting out a few imperfections and brushing snow out of her hair. She turned to Julia, biting her lip and trying not to think too hard about the 'hot date' comment. She's never had someone pay so much attention to her before, and it's a little intimidating. The house was still unlit and silent behind her, and she looked at it for a moment. "We'd… better move, I don't want to wake Aunt Hotaru up." Gathering her bravery, she took Julia's hand - easier since she still had her gloves on - and gently tugged her in the direction of the square. There was a nice fountain there that had only partially frozen over, and while it was a public space, there were less residential buildings around. "We should… go somewhere where we can't be seen." She grinned shyly at her date. |

She followed Mai dutifully, remaining close all the while. He legs felt less like jelly now, boosted in confidence by the smaller girl's insistence that they move. She didn't exactly know where they were going, or why they were going, but she knew that they had to go somewhere, obviously, so she followed. "Well it's hard to enjoy the snow if we're somewhere that's remote enough that we can't be seen..." Julia huffed, legitimately disappointed at the statement, but beckoning for Mai to sit next to her at the edge of the fountain. "You can at least sit with me for a minute before we co hide out somewhere. Sound fair?" |

She deflated slightly - she had hoped Julia would pick up on her attempt to flirt there, even if it had really been too subtle to matter. "Here's just fine… I thought the fountain might be nice, and there's a lot of open space. More snow, see?" The square was quite large and there was a larger area than on her street, plus there was no chance of them making enough noise to wake anyone. "If you'd warned me… I'd have brought something to eat." Mai smiled, almost laughing. |

Julia nodded, acknowledging the point Mai was making. After all, the area wouldn't look this nice in a few hours, when the sheet of pure white in front of them would be sullied by scattered footprints puncturing it from all over. She sighed, admiring it all in one long glance. After a few moments, Julia pulled Mai a bit closer, curling her arm around the girl's midriff. "Thanks for coming out, food or not. I thought you might take me as a crazy person, or just tell me to go away when I called you..." |

Mai leaned into her, liking the feeling of the other girl's arm around her, though it was an unfamiliar feeling… and very intimate. But she smiled. "… do you usually stand under girls' windows?" She was enjoying Julia's warmth, and yawned a bit. She gathered some snow into her lap and began playing around with it, packing it into a ball. Snow rabbits were traditional, but somewhat boring. |

"Nope..." Julia said with a short, nervous giggle. She rested her head on Mai's shoulder, watching her play with the snow on her lap. She turned a deep shade of red and shut her eyes. "I just got really, really, really excited....I hope you don't mind..." She picked up a handful of snow off of the ledge next to them as they sat there, and she tried to copy Mai's motions jokingly. Doing it all with her one free hand didn't have the same effect that Mai's hands did, but a grin spread across her face at the same time. |
