Mai giggled. "Then I feel special."
She finished making her snow rabbit and set it on the ground, pulling off her glove and fishing around in the fountain water for some leaves for ears. Afterwards she leaned against Julia, watching her play with the snow.
"I'll show you how."
Leaning over, she started shaping Julia's snow with her hands, moving them over hers and showing her how to pack the snow down tight enough into a small egg shape. Her cheeks were pink from the contact and the cold, but she figured it was a nice way to be close without actually doing anything.

Julia sat quietly, blushing as she let Mai play with the snow on her lap. She knew that this kind of moment would probably be rare, given the girl's more shy and submissive personality, but it was nice to see her take the lead. She nonchalantly took off her own glove, passing it to her far hand and taking Mai's previously sculpting and shaping hands into her own.

"You know, dunking your hand in freezing water and playing with ice and snow probably isn't such a great idea." she smiled, squeezing Mai's hands just a bit. "Do you wanna go somewhere and warm up some before we drop you back off at your aunt's?"

The feeling when the other girl took her cold hands in her warm ones was something rather indescribable to Mai, it send little electric thrills all up her arms and into her chest. She thought something so simple shouldn't produce such a reaction, and she couldn't help stuttering.
"T-that'd be n-nice but… i-it's n-nearly three in the m-morning… where would we g-go?" It was partially the cold, but mostly Julia's hands. She had frozen in a posture half as though she wanted to pull away, but she gave the other girl's hand a tentative squeeze.

"….I don't want to go home just yet…"
She didn't want to give up this newfound freedom so soon.

Julia almost giggled at Mai's immediate tension. She stopped herself, knowing that it would probably scare the poor girl, but she leaned a bit more against her and grinned. "We can go back to my place and watch a movie? If you tell me when you need to be back by, I'll set an alarm or something in case we fall asleep, I'll make snacks, we'll watch whatever you want, and we'll have the place to ourselves so you won't have to worry about people seeing you, and...."

Julia finally took a breath, realizing that she was speaking nervously again. How she ever got through their first date with so much confidence was a mystery to her, explained mostly by exhaustion after a long day of work, and slight depression from the fact that she'd known she had to go back a few hours later. Now, however, she really had nothing cutting out all of these nervous thoughts. What if she didn't like her that much? What if she said no? What if she thought that she was crazy? The possibilities swarmed through her head, almost making her dizzy.

Julia's house? Alone? At night? ….with Julia?
Mai swallowed, listening to the other girl's rambling list of the things they could do, smiling at the mention of nobody seeing them - she really didn't deserve so much trouble - before she finally nodded slowly.
"I'd…. I'd like that." She nodded again. "Yes, your place sounds… wonderful."

It took an enormous amount of courage just to say that much, but then her Aunt was a late riser… so even if she stayed all night there was little chance she would notice. Mai curled into Julia slightly, thinking.
"….H-hotaru probably won't notice if I'm back later in the day… I can say I went out to the shops…"
She would just have to remember to actually buy something to back up her story.

Julia jumped up in excitement, once more losing her sense of exhaustion and yanking Mai to her feet. She grinned widely, kissing the other girl's hand before letting go to slide her gloves back on. "Sounds perfect, hun. I live just a couple of blocks away. It's not as fancy as up here, but it's more private, and no one's going to bug us."

She couldn't contain her excitement at all. It wasn't as if she planned to do anything inappropriate, but there was something absolutely exhilarating about taking a person back to her apartment, and if it had to be anyone, she was glad that it was a safe, nice girl like Mai.

Mai couldn't help but smile, though she covered it and her blushing face with her hand when Julia kissed her other one. She was going to someone's house. Her…. could she call Julia her girlfriend? Was it too soon for that? It probably was.
"L-lead the way…" She gave her hand a quick squeeze, feeling her heart race with fear and excitement. She was breaking the rules for the first time. It was exhilarating and frightening at the same time. What about consequences? What if someone saw them and her Aunt found out?

But right then, she didn't care. Which was scary in itself.

Once they arrived at Julia's front door, she grew instantly red in the face. It had been a while since she'd had anyone over. It was a bit odd, and because of that, she just paused in front of the door without a word, slipping her free arm around Mai's waist.

"Well this is my place..." she breathed out as she opened the door up to reveal a tastefully decorated but simply furnished apartment. It wasn't much, but the place had a charm to it that detracted a bit from the chaos of being in the city.

Mai rather liked the feeling of Julia's arm around her waist, it made her fee safe, protected, even…. owned somehow. But in a benevolent manner. She leaned into her, breath fogging in the cold.
Inside was pleasant, it made her think of hot cups of tea and warm biscuits - though she wasn't sure if Julia was interested in cooking. Maybe she wouldn't mind if Mai borrowed her oven for a little while…. but that would be intrusive, and anyway… baking cookies for someone she just met would be a little…

She stood next to her, not wanting to leave her side just yet but it would be awkward just clinging to her like that, so after a moment she did move away and hovered by the couch.
"It's lovely…" She smiled nervously.

"It's okay I suppose..." Julia blushed at the compliment to her apartment. She wasn't exactly used to hosting people here, so she didn't know what more she could say or do to make Mai feel at home. "Umm....I think there are some chips in the pantry, and if there's anything else you want, I guess we can make some food?"

She couldn't help but smile - apparently Julia wasn't the type to keep her fridge stocked, it wouldn't be the first time she would have whipped something up from near nothing.
"Just snacks are okay… but I can cook something for you, i-if you want." Mai didn't like to expect to be fed when at another person's house, so she usually offered to at least help in the kitchen. But judging from Julia's expression, she wasn't much of a cook.

"If you make me food, I will be the cuddliest, happiest girlfriend ever." Julia said with a wide grin, pulling Mai into the kitchen and opening the fridge and freezer for her to see. In the fridge were various leftovers: Chinese food, pizza, etc, coupled by a few assorted ingredients like butter, milk, and eggs. In the freezer were mostly TV dinners and other frozen meals, but there were a few assorted packages of meat, not expired, but definitely left in there by a person who didn't feel like cooking. "Make whatever you want, and I'll eat it."

G-girlfriend??
Mai tried not to stare too long at the fridge when her brain momentarily froze up at that statement. But there seemed to be basics here, meat… eggs… butter…
She'd make noodles but it seemed like Julia already ate a lot of asian cuisine, something else then…
Eventually she took out some chicken thighs, flour, dried herbs, milk, and some vegetables.
She washed her hands, took out a frying pan and chopping board, and poured a small dish of milk.

"This won't take long." She chopped up some vegetables and cleaned the chicken fillets, filled a bag with herbs and flour, dipped the meat in milk and then tossed them in the flour. "I hope you like chicken."
She turned up the pan, put each fillet in when it was hot enough to cook, steaming the vegetables with lemon in a separate pan.
Within about half an hour she had two crumbed chicken fillets, with some vegetables and zucchini fritters on the side.

"It's not much but… it's something." She handed Julia a prepared plate with a nervous smile.

Julia took the plate and set it on the table, pulling Mai into a kiss for a moment with a huge grin on her face. "Thanks hun. Nobody's ever cooked for me before. I'll try to make up for it next time if you can live with something burned around the edges."

She let go of the smaller girl, turning around with a bounce to grab the plate and dig in, bending over from impatience rather than sitting down. She didn't eat particularly fast, but she really enjoyed each bite.

"Oh, that's okay, I usually do this sort of thing- mmmm…?" Mai didn't respond to the kiss, she didn't know how, and hadn't been prepared for it. There was a loud clatter as her plate slipped from her fingers.
"Oh g-god, I'm sorry! I'm just b-breaking things…." She knelt down to pick up the pieces of china, her hair falling in her eyes and hiding her face - and her blush that would rival Rudolf's nose. T-that had been her first -

Less glamourous than she'd imagined, but somehow it was nicer that way. She absently skimmed a knuckle across her lips as she finished cleaning up the broken plate and transferred her food to a fresh one.
"M-might have to pick out some broken bits but w-when did that ever kill anyone?" She sat down next to her, but kept some polite distance.
