Resa had to lean against the bed frame, all the excitement was doing funny things to a body that hadn’t walked more than three paces in over a year. She was frustrated at the lack of control she had, her hands, which were usually so steady and sure, were shaking. “You idiotic little-” She calmed a bit, holding up a hand, brain ticking over a mile a minute. “I had a safehouse, but that’s not going to be any good anymore, I’m pretty sure I gave the location to Valentine.” She can’t remember, he asked so many questions and she wasn’t always paying attention. In any case, the Mafia knew where it was and once word got out she escaped they’d be all over it. There were several possible places they could go, and she ran through a list of them, knocking them over one by one. The school was always locked up, the cafe was gone, she couldn’t risk returning to Gracie’s place… there was no where to go. “There’s… there’s no where.” She sat down with a heavy thump, not entirely in control of her limbs. “Oh god there’s no where…” She really had burned all her bridges. --- The boy wheeled over to the door and vanished heading for Anya’s kitchen, a moment later he returned with a glass of water, offering it to Resa. “Here,” he said, his usual chipper smile ever present as always. “It’ll help you think. And come on, there is always a ‘somewhere’ in this big blue world, I should know~! I’ve been to a tone of somewhere’s~!” She seemed really shook up, which Isaac couldn’t blame her. It wasn’t everyday you were kidnapped from prison. He glanced over her, surprised at just how frail she looked. Were the prisons really that harsh? He hadn’t given the tour of the Tartarus much attention when they had gone, he’d been so busy talking to...Emily. His smile wavered for a moment before he pushed those thoughts aside, the present returning to the center of his attention. “So, what’s the plan Anya?” --- Where could they go? Her brain whirred frantically as she tried to come up with a reasonable solution. While it was true that Isaac could take them most anywhere, there were only a few places now which Resa could call home. In terms of housing refugees, the Messiah Complex were the first to come to mind. But after the fall of Cafe Richards as well as her fall-out with certain members, she doubted she’d be able to find them so easily. But a decision had to be made, and if there was any place to start it may as well have been there. “Mr. Kurai,” she said, turning to face him. “Do you have any pictures of the slums?” --- She accepted the glass, though her fingers felt oddly numb, like she was floating somewhere out of time. The water was cold though, and it helped. A bit. “I know a few places in the slums,” She mumbled, “none that would put us up, but a few where we could at least catch our breath.” Resa swept an arm to encompass Anya’s room. “It can just be Antarctica for fucks sake, how long do you think it’ll be before you’ve got soldiers pounding on your door? There ain’t many who can do what Isaac does, besides-” She gave Anya a steady look, though she herself didn’t know whether she was angry, accusatory, or just tired. “Valentine knew you were up to something, it won’t take him long.” Resa took another sip. “And I don’t have any information left that can help you… not without giving up everything. So make sure we don’t get caught, I don’t feel like being a complete traitor.” --- The young man tapped his chin. “Well, I suppose I do, do you have any preferences? Like, how far in do you want? Or is there a region?” He chuckled sheepishly. “I grabbed most of the ones of the slums from either times I was there on a mission, or when there was a cool sight to see. --- Anya ignored Resa, or at least she tried to as her pessimism was starting to eat at her core. No one had saw them. They had made an effort to avoid every camera. For all they knew, Resa had simply vanished from her cell… right? “As far in as we can, please,” she nodded, trying her best to hide that grinding doubt. “We can decide what to do next once we are there.” --- Resa shivered, her thin little hospital shift and trousers not doing much to keep her warm, though the room was heated. It was probably stress. “We can at least keep to a few back alleys,” She mumbled, “Just keep your faces covered and promise me, if we’re caught you hand me over, no fighting. You’ve done more than enough on my account.” If anything, she’d try to keep going on her own, though it was unlikely she would succeed. She was going to need to get herself a new gun, but her accounts might have been frozen by now if the Mob were convinced she was gone. |
