Rowan: [/He's still cuffed to the cot, but he doesn't mind] [/Not at the moment] [/The only thing that's been keeping him still, the only thing making him at the very least cooperative was the assumption that he'd be free to return to the city after this] [/He's already sorting it all out- his first visit would be the hospital, get his hand properly healed. Then he'll call Sven- that should be fine right? He would know by now anyways and fill the 'blanks' in for him] [/Then try and get that temp job back... if that offered expired, he'll talk with Dr. Flores...] [/All at the cost of his memories] [/He bites his lip, rubbing at his still stiff, raw hand, starting to get the feeling back even under all the tight bandaging] [/It'd be worth it. And it isn't as if they would get away with it completely- sooner or later he'll spot in inconsistencies in whatever story they tell him] Ant: *knocks on the door, then enters* Rowan? You awake? *small smile* I've brought Dimitri. We just need to erase your memories of this place and then Maitho will take you out of here. Dimitri: *enters as well, closing the door behind him* Hello again Rowan. Rowan: [/He looks up, and sits up straight] Yes, I'm awake- [/He stills himself, retraining from expressing how surprised he was to see his former headmaster again] ...Hello Mr. Ener. It's been a long time hasn't? Dimitri: Not since I was imprisoned. *warm smile* How have you been doing in school? Keeping your grades top notch as always I presume? *trying to make the process easier by adding familiarity and possibly even old trust thought patterns to help when he has to get to work.* Rowan: I was until... well all this happened. [/He does feel at ease now- even if the older man was now by all intents and purposes a 'traitor' and a 'criminal', he was a former student- the best kind. Mr. Ener wouldn't take down one of his former star pupils after all, would he?] But things will be back to normal soon enough. I understand you're here to make me forget these people ever captured me, right? Dimitri: *nods* Yes, it's a real shame, as someone of your talents and intelligence would surely be of great assistance to us. But you do have to finish school, and I would shame my name as a teacher if I were to let you quite before you had finished. So! Are you ready? Rowan: [/He nods] Yes, I am. I've been here far too long as it is. [/Pauses] ...But... just the memories of the Messiah Complex, right? There won't be any side effects I would have to worry about, is there? Dimitri: No, I'm quite experienced in this sort of thing. There won't be any side effects, and any inconsistencies in memory tend to naturally blend together with any memories you do have. The mind is an amazing thing after all. *pulls a chair over alongside Rowan* Now, I want you to close your eyes. *sighs softly, glances at Ant, thought speaking to her* 'Are you sure you want me to do this?' Rowan: [/He hesitates, but his wanting to just get out of here outweighed any worry he did have] [/Obediently he shuts his eyes and waits for whatever was going to happen] Ant: 'Yes. This is for his own safety as well....Val may not really be out to get him but there's no telling what Kitty might do.' Dimitri: 'As you wish.' *eyes glow a soft green as he begins to work, tasking two subminds to aid in the skimming of Rowan's local memory, then beings to shift memories to implant artificial ones as he removes the ones they needed gone. task takes almost three hours and a lot of his current mental energy cache* It's finished. Ant: *watches most of the time while he works, brings him and Rowan each a glass of water* Here. Dimitri: *takes his, sips* Thank you. Rowan: [/He's feels like he had just woken from... something like a dream but not quite...] [/He does feel dizzy, and for a moment couldn't quite place himself or the situation until he's offered the water] [/Like puzzle pieces, it all clicked back into place- he was targeted to be killed by Svarc- the man nearly succeeded by having a underling cornering him] [/His hand was nearly destroyed and the Messiah Complex came and saved him from a foul fate] [/He takes the water with his good hand and nods, still dazed, but... well he must of lost a bit of blood... didn't he? Was he just asleep? Must be the stress, must be...] Th...thank you Mrs. Richards. [/He takes a small sip from his glass, seeming to of adjusted now] Ant: *impulsively reaches out to pat his shoulder* You okay, Rowan? You seem a little tired...maybe you'd like to take a nap before Maitho takes you into hiding? Rowan: [/He shakes his head] ...wasn't I just... [/He shakes his head again] I'm alright. I couldn't sleep now anyways... Where is my father, now that you mentioned it? Ant: He's waiting outside with Fortune. Let me get you a better coat and a change of clothes. *unclasped the cuff while Dimitri was working on his brain and tucked it away* Rowan: [/He see's the cuff and for a second an alarm goes off] What is tha- Ant: *thinking quickly* You caught a fever after the attack, remember? You were hallucinating. We had to cuff you down to keep you from hurting yourself or running off. It just broke this morning. Dimitri was checking to make sure you had no permanent damage. Don't you remember? *looks to Dimitri for confirmation* Dimitri: *nods in agreement* You were lucky Rowan. I'm surprised with all the projects you've worked on that your immune system handled it as well as it did. Rowan: ...Oh. That would explain why I feel so fatigued now. [/He relaxes, 'remembering' splits and bits] Thank you for watching over me then. Ant: Of course. You're Maitho's son....*grins* And....Ellie insisted we help you. SHe's still a bit mad about what happened with Sven but....she hated the idea of leaving you in danger seeing as you're Sven's friend as well. Rowan: [/Huffs] I... suppose I do owe her one. [/He hold off his correction of being just Sven's 'friend'- there's no need for that] [/He gets to his feel, feeling stiff as if he's been sitting for a very very long time] I best change and not keep my father waiting. Ant: Okay. I've got some fresh clothes that should fit. *goes to another room, returns with clothes that are a bit baggy but suitable, then grabs a small tub with warm water in it along with a wash cloth* And here, in case you want to wash up a bit too. Rowan: [/He takes them, nodding] Is there a room in this hideout I may change in private? Ant: Yes, there's a spare bathroom next door but the faucets in there are broken. Rowan: [/He leaves the room to do just that] Ant: *heads outside to where Maitho is waiting* It's done. He's changing now and getting a bit cleaned up. The story is that after his attack and injury, he developed a bad fever which just broke today which will explain any remaining gaps in his memory. Fortune: That quickly? Maitho: I understand. I'll make sure Haydn knows about it to. He probably won't meet with Rowan at all unless something wrong happens to Fortune or myself. *He flicks his nub of a cigarette away.* Price did tell you he'd be going with us, didn't he? Ant: He mentioned it, yeah.....Don't...let anyone else beat him up please. Fortune: Sweet Baby's gotten a talking to, I promise. *sighs* I'll be keeping Price out of trouble this time. Maitho: His own fault that he was so sure he'd find me. Ant: It's Price. Price: [/Overhears the conversation] Oi, I wasn't expect'n some boobed jacka** to nail me with a door okay? Maitho: *smiles* Yes, that's true. Then we'll be going, so don't worry about Rowan from here on out. Ant: *smiles at that but chooses not to reply* Anyway, Cornelia says to bring Rowan by again in a few days so she can keep working on his hand. She knows she won't be able to fix all of the damage but she can at least make sure he doesn't lose mobility in it. Ant: But otherwise, he's in your care. Maitho: ...too risky. Make her come to him instead. The old bird could probably do with a little sunlight before she becomes a slug or something more unsavory than she already is. Ant: *snickers, can't help it* Understood. Fortune: Oh... before I forget. *He reaches into his coat's inner pocket and hands Ant a card.* Don't worry, it's not the Sass, but I do think we need to talk, see what else we can do for each other. *The card is very simple, dark purple with silver text. Promise Lane and its address.* Price: *peeks over at the card* ....Always gotta love these club names. Ant: *nods, tucks it away* We will indeed talk. I'll try to find time later in the week. Maitho: Come on, let's getting going. It doesn't take that long to get pants on, so Rowan's probably waiting for me. Ant: Right. He's a bit hazy right now, so be gentle with him Rowan: *All finished up, having taking his time considering his hand and all* *He leaves the bathroom* Maitho: *He goes in first, but he doesn't even try to act comforting. Dimitri didn't replace the memories concerning him.* Are you ready to go then? Rowan: [/He see's his father and nods at him] Yes, I am. Where will we be going? [/He rubs his bandaged hand, only sign of his being anxious] Maitho: To a place called Dazzle Dust, and we'll start working on your new, temporary, identity. Just keep your head low and do as we say... especially Fortune and myself. Ant: ...Take care of yourself, Rowan. *soft smile* Fortune: *He doesn't say anything, but he does give a glance in Price's direction. This... isn't going to be easy.* Rowan: What a.... interesting name... [/He pulls his hood up] And I will. *Towards Ant* Thank you once more for hiding me. Price: I know. But it could of been a lot worse. *sighs* ....oi' the boy isn't going to be cooped with that 'sweet baby' is he? Fortune: Well... yes and no. You want someone hidden? Sweet Baby will hide them better than anyone else, even me, but he doesn't actually work in Dazzle. Ant: Of course. If you ever need anything, the MC will be happy to help. Maitho: Some of the MC. This is as far as it goes for me. Fortune: We'll discuss it later. *He pulls back his coat sleeve to check his watch.* ...watch should be changing, so we'd better move. *smiles at Ant* It's been a pleasure. Ant: It always is, Fortune. I'll be by soon. Rowan: [/He laughs softly] Of course. You're already doing far more than I'd ever expect for me.... and I mean that kindly. Price: [/He gives her a quick peck on her check] And this time I'll try not to take as long. *Heh* 'ight, lets go before it gets too dark. Ant: *blushes deeply* M-must you do that while people are around? *FLUSTERED* Maitho: *sighs* Yes, god forbid you know he loves you... Fortune: *chuckles, shoving both Rowan and Maitho along* All right, let's go. Price: [/He laughs as they move along] God knows what would'a happened if I did more than that huh? Rowan: ..... [/Feels very out of place for the moment] Ant: *huffs, pouting and trying hard not to smile* Just go, you jerk. Maitho: *He hesitates before putting his hand on Rowan's shoulder as they head out.**He actually doesn't say anything, no smart remarks or bitter sarcasm, but it's not because he doesn't have them. He's actually listening.* Fortune: *to Price* Well, you two seem to have come pretty far. Price: [/Grins a little] Yeah. But since Buttercup is here, I better keep a lid on it. Kid, you're doing 'igh? Rowan: [/....buttercup?] I'm fine. Fortune: You'll have to tell me later~ Maitho: Fortune, stop gossiping. *curt* ...and take a left instead of a right up ahead. I don't think it's Elite, but someone other than us is around. Price: [/He tugs at his hat, taking heed to that warning] ...If it an't Elite, then who the hell would bother? Fortune: Could be anyone, really. *shrugs, still keeping it casual* Your "benefactor" likes to keep her eyes on things in the Slums, and even the Young Master (Sebastian) has his own force. *amused* I have a lot of people myself, and no, they aren't all drag queens. Price: Well, let’s just hope they lose interest. [/He pats his holster as the move along] Rowan: ...Svarc does have eyes in many places. Are you sure we shouldn't be more worried? Fortune: *He shakes his head, taking a left as Maitho instructed.* ...maybe, but you're more suspicious if you try and act like you don't belong. Rowan: ... [/But he doesn't belong- how does he act like...] *They make their way further into the Slums, and soon, the buildings start to turn to brick, and not long after, the red lights start to appear.**They even pass Promise Lane on the way although Fortune doesn't call attention to it.* *The Dazzle Dust stands out, however, because of the very loud voices coming from it. Someone belting out a loud, obnoxious show tune makes the whole scene more chaotic with its roving people at the entrance, and the flashes of sequins and glow sticks.* Fortune: Here we are~ Maitho: *winces* ...ugh, I thought you said this was a gambling house? Fortune: It is... under the club anyway. Rowan: [/He stops walking, seeming unsettled by how.... loud the club seemed to be] ...Here? [/He hated the idea of even going near it, due to all the lights and sounds- he was still a little dazed as it was without all that] Sweet Baby: Foooortune, daaaarling~! *He comes running out of the throng of people outside to join them, holding a glowing pink cocktail in his hand, and without spilling it, he gives Fortune a very big (yet still dainty) hug.* I've been waiting aaaall night for you~ *He's dressed in a black pantsuit with a deep V that goes all the way down past his navel. He's also got an even longer gold chain around his neck which reaches his knees.* Oh, and Buttercup~ Is this your little doll~? *He reaches over and pinches Rowan's cheeks.* So so cute~ Oh he'll be just perfect downstairs. I'm sure Yvette will love him~ Maitho: ...he gets worse every time I hear him, I swear. Fortune: Sweet, what the... you know what? Nevermind. Just get us upstairs as soon as you can. Please, we don't have time for you being... you. Rowan: [/He tears back, obviously being spooked by such a dramatic introduction] I-I'm sorry but who is this? [/He asks, trying to compose himself] Price: *dryly* It's the jacka** from hell. But Lucky is right- we should get inside. Sweet Baby: *Seems to finally take notice of Price and pats his shoulder as he totters by, his extremely long, fake fingernails scraping against the fabric of his coat.* Oh come on, precious, anyone would've been worried with you skulking around like some kind of pervert. Poor Buttercup deserves better than you're drunk ass~ *cackles* Okay, boys and girls, follow the mommy bird~! <3 Fortune: *Even he rolls his eyes, but he follows along, putting himself between Price and Sweet Baby while they walk.* Maitho: *He whispers to Rowan, keeping right next to him the whole time with his hand on his shoulder. He won't admit it, but he's using Rowan as a guide. There's too much noise for him to know where he's gong.* ...don't worry. He's not the owner here, so you won't see much of him as long as you stay away from the club as much as possible. He's just a dancer here. Price: I swear to f*ck if you're telling people that we're an item again- AGH! [/He throws his hands in the air, frustrated in his little tantrum] Rowan: That's good I suppose... [/He glances at the hand on his shoulder and while at first he was confused- he does get the hint] [Oddly easy forgetting that his father was a blind man. He didn't exactly make it obvious] [/Nevertheless, he makes no comment on it] Maitho: *He snips at Price.* No, I said nothing of the sort. It's Haydn and me that's dating... *Of all the things to pray to God, it's that Price is smart enough to figure out that it's not the case.* *Sweet Baby leads them in through a side door with "Employees Only" scrawled on it with sharpie. He and Fortune wave to a couple of the working girls there, one of them topless with two trays full of empty glasses, before slipping downstairs.* *The downstairs is, indeed a gambling parlor. It's also all glow in the dark, and the people standing around the various tables aren't, by and large, old and suspicious looking men. Most appear to be young Users just having a wild good time.* Rowan: [/He starts feeling very embarrassed at how... brazen some of these people are and averts his eyes at immodesty of the topless waitresses] [/He see's the Users and try's to keep behind the two larger men (Fortune and Price) to hide face] [/Why would SIN students be here anyway. That’s against school policy!] Price: ...Haydn. Really? Haydn? Yvette: *chatting quietly with a dealer over something, glances their way when they come in, is a woman in her late 20s to early 30s with wavy light-colored hair tied back in a ponytail, wearing a button-down top and black slacks, makes her way over and nods* Hello. *has bright hazel eyes though it's hard to see in the dark, is a placid-looking woman with a plain face* I'm Yvette. It's nice to meet you. *tilts her head* This way please. *gestures to another door that says "Staff" on it* Maitho: *defensive* He can be very charming if you'd just- *He shuts his mouth immediately when Yvette joins them.* Sweet Baby: Are you gonna take care of them, ma'am~? Yvette: *glances at Sweet Baby* I am. You are dismissed. Thank you for showing them in. *smiles politely* Sweet Baby: Of course~ Now... off to get all those nice and pretty tips~! *kisses Fortune on the cheek* Give me a call sometime~ It gets lonely without you~ <3 Fortune: Yes, yes I know. Thank you, Sweet. We'll catch up later. Rowan: [/He's still uneasy about all this but at least it as a little more quiet here] [/He clears his throat before speaking] Are.. you the owner of this place? Yvette: I am. *not an overly verbose person but that is more due to loss of train of thought rather than being snappy, leads them to a comfortable employee lounge that is mostly soundproofed from the club and gambling hall outside, there is a small counter with a sink, some microwaves, two fridges, and a coffee machine, gestures for them to sit* I'm Yvette Grier. You must be Rowan and Maitho. My apologies about upstairs.... Maitho: Thank you, and it's not a problem. *After all, he's not the one who has to hide here.* Every one of these places are different, so it's no matter. *He sits down and pretty much pulls Rowan down to sit next to him.* Fortune: You're always busy it seems, so it's understandable that it'd be a little rough. Rowan: [/He sits down but he does give the other man a quizzical look about it] [/Not exactly used to being told what to do- be being out of his element, he plays along fairly well at the moment] Price: [/Heh] Seems like a fun place to hide out all things considered- [/Yeah for someone like him maybe] - but you alright with the.. risks? Yvette: *shrugs* No one pays much attention to the many nightclubs around here, and Lulu's heir keeps us pretty well covered. The club upstairs is handled by my managers. *looks at Rowan* You'll be working down here, serving drinks mostly. It won't be easy work but you'll have free room and board here. I have an apartment connected to this place and I have my spare bedroom set up that you can use. Don;t worry about the upstairs too much. Though we'll probably have to change your look a little bit. Rowan: [/He stiffens, hating the idea of spending more than a minute downstairs] Wouldn't I be more useful... away from the customers? I could do paper work, maybe finances? Yvette: You;ll be doing that too, but frankly, I need servers. Maitho: Be quiet and do as the lady tells you. *His voice is firm, but it's not sharp like it usually would be.* She's taking a lot on by just having you here, and you're lucky that Fortune arranged for prostitution not to be on your list of possible jobs. Rowan: [/Fantastic...] [/He'll have to get used to it, of course] [/Though at that last comment he gives a sharp look at Maitho] As if I'd ever agree to that. And excuse me for asking, father. Yvette: *coughs* I was going to say, I need servers until the school year really gets started again. Once SIN picks back up in a week or two, things will be much less busy. Yvette: Mostly, it's busy now because they have holiday money to blow and free time to kill. Yvette: After that, I'll only need you serving on weekends for the most part. Maitho: It seems those other parents of yours never taught you anything about proper manners. *calms himself down* Is it all right if I come by and check on him every week or so? I'll notify you in advance, of course. Price: *snorts* Oi, it's yer first fight with the boy. Need a switch? Rowan: *glares, but composes himself* That sounds reasonable, Yvette. Hopefully I wouldn't be recognized of course, but then there's plenty of distractions here. Yvette: I see no problem with you visiting, Mr. Savat. And it;s dark here so you should be fine....Also, I...cannot cook but there are many good take out restaurants nearby or we have a kitchen upstairs that, when the club is open, we can get food from. Yvette: I'm simply happy to help. Maitho: *very strained* Maitho is more than fine. *Ugh, he already felt like he was turning into his own father without her saying that.* ...if you'll excuse us. *He stands.* I'm afraid Fortune and I still have our own businesses to get to. Fortune: Ah, yeah, that's true... I have an appointment scheduled for later tonight. Need to get my face on and things... *glances at Price* Are you all right with going back by yourself, or do you want me with you? Price: Nah, I'm fine. I better not keep you and Mr. Savat. *Snorts again* Rowan: [/He doesn't say it, but now being left along in yet another completely foreign place made him feel anxious] ... Yvette:.....*seems to notice*.....You've had a long day though. Come on, we'll let you rest for tonight. I was going to call it a day anyway. *glances at Fortune* WOuld you mind stopping by tomorrow or so to help get him disguised a bit better? Fortune: *grins* Of course. I'll be free, so I'll bring all my stuff over. I've got some clothes that will fit him and the look of this place too. You don't have to worry about any of that~ Maitho: *He steps on Price's foot when he walks past.* I'll give you a call in a couple days, Yvette. Thank you again. (2:13:36 AM) [Arcadia Chat]: (missdomayuset) Price: [/He shoves Maitho a bit, muttering before going on his own way] Rowan: I look forward to that then Fortune. [/No he didn't, but what choice does he have really? Hopefully it'd be convincing enough to protect him from any hitmen looking for him] And thank you Yvette, I am feeling a bit light headed actually. Yvette: Any time. Take care now, all of you. *relieved that she doesn;t have to deal with the details of getting Rowan a disguise, stands* Then this way, please. I was going to get some polish food. There;s a nice place not far from here actually. *Fortune and Maitho slip out the front rather than the back of the building. Sure, it's more crowded, but even if Price were to look back, he wouldn't find them. They were gone, following their own route back to their respective brothels for the evening.* |
