*The bar wasn't exactly eye-catching from the outside, but it also wasn't tucked in an out of the way place like most bars in the Slums. All it needed to do to advertise itself was have a small neon red sign and a green one just below it on a window lined with twinkle lights, reading BAR and BEER respectively. The owner and bartender could be seen polishing a series of beer glasses. Only one person was sitting at the counter itself, a woman in a large white coat, staring idly up at a TV in the far corner.* Evan: *finally left the hospital after hours of sitting around, signing forms, and keeping an eye on the twins. he walks into the bar knowing he won't be carded if he just keeps his mouth shut. he takes a seat about two places over from where the woman was sitting, and quietly orders a beer* Maitho: *He's not especially fond of bars on their own, but he can't deny that they're good places for him to gather information. This trip, however, was more to make "Bianca" out to be a semi-regular.**His hair is still half-done from the night before, and his makeup is clean and simple. He's bit too dressed up for the small bar, though, with his over sized coat on his tiny shoulders, a gold clutch purse on his lap, and a pink frilly dress on his person.**He hears Evan sit down and order a beer. "Glancing" over, he smiles.* ...you know, I was just thinking that this place was mighty lonely. *His voice doesn't sound much like a man's anyway, but he's made it even lighter to try put himself in the role.* Evan: *glances over at the sound of the feminine voice. He nods slightly to acknowledge the woman's comment, even putting on a slight smile. It was forced, though, after the kind of day he'd had, and it only lasted a brief moment. His voice was a bit raspy from a lack of sleep and a plethora of conversations he'd been forced through today, including a shouting match with a rather rude nurse.* It definitely doesn't seem like the most lively place in town... Maitho: No, but sometimes, that's better than nothing at all. You missed a pool game either, but they weren't exactly the talkative types either. *He reaches for his own glass, a red cocktail of some kind, and while he doesn't miss it, he's especially careful not to spill it.* Then again, you sound like you're not really up to talking yourself. I hope I'm not disturbing you. Evan: *takes a short breath* Nah, conversation's better than drinking alone, after all. *he looks over at her* Come here often, or just passing through and decided to drop by? Maitho: Mmm, a little of both. It's close to work, that's really all there is to it. *He takes a sip before setting his drink back down again.* It's good to meet you, my name's Bianca. Yours? Evan: *nods, then offers her his hand to shake with another forced smile* Evan. Nice to meet you. Maitho: *There's a bit of a pause before he realizes that Evan has probably put his hand out for a shake. He reaches out and takes the young man's hand.* You here for the businesses, I take it? Evan: *arms glow slightly brighter with the brief moment of embarrassment before she shook his hand* Nah, I have family about a block away. Maitho: Ah, I see. *He laughs quietly, careful not to let his natural voice slip.* Forgive me, that was my mistake... Evan: *takes a sip of his drink, then tries again to smile, a bit more successfully* You didn't do anything wrong....so what do you do, exactly? Not a lot of businesses around here... Maitho: I'm a prostitute myself, and no, I'm not working right now. *He crosses his ankles.* It's too cold outside for me. *Not that he's a street walker by any means, hell no, but Evan doesn't have to know that.* Evan: *nods, chuckling a bit to himself* Wasn't going to ask that actually. I don't have money to blow on much more than a beer nowadays... How's business though? Maitho: Steady enough, I suppose. *He takes another sip, this one a little larger than the last.* Just bracing myself for Friday and Saturday... what with the holiday and all. Everyone's booked up. Evan: *thinks about it as she talks, and nods a bit* I'll bet... and I guess you'd be in pretty high demand, huh? Maitho: *The blush is genuine, and although slightly altered, so is the little laugh that follows it.* Very smooth of you. Evan: *shrugs, sipping his drink for a bit more confidence* Well thanks. You must get a ton of smooth guys hitting you up though, so don't mind me too much. Maitho: *Oh, now this was going to be a bit of fun for sure.* Mmm, but it's still nice to hear it from someone who's not paying. Evan: *raises an eyebrow in surprise* Well looking like you do, I'm kind of surprised that you don't. Maitho: Or perhaps most men aren't forward enough to say anything to me. *He sips his drink again.* Even so, thank you. It takes a lot of work to look this good~ Evan: *nods, taking another sip* I'll bet... Can't say I'd be willing to go through all of that in the morning, but admiring someone who does doesn't hurt. Maitho: *Ah well, might as well stop fudging this bit.* I'm afraid I can only really compliment your voice. This hardly seems fair, what with you being so sweet. Evan: *shrugs, looking back at his drink for a moment* Eh, not a big deal. *gestures to the bartender for one more beer* Thirsty? Maitho: A little, but you don't have to buy. *pauses* And no, that wasn't an insult. I just... don't have my cane with me, I hope you understand? Evan: *eyes widen for a moment as he realizes his own screw-up* Ah, I'm sorry. I didn't even realize... Maitho: *Again, he laughs although it's still more to himself.* It's okay. I should've said something before, but I never know how to mention it without seeming like I'm shutting people out. Evan: *instinctively tries to wave it off, then realizes his mistake again and turns a bit red* Nah, just the way you are... *now he knows why she never even looked at his arms when they brightened and dimmed* Maitho: You're too kind. *He drinks down almost the last of his cocktail.* ...I will say it makes the job easier from time to time, though. Evan: *chuckles slightly* I'd guess so... Not a pretty job all the time I'd guess. Maitho: Mmm, no, but it makes me appreciate good company even more. And living here... I get to meet all kinds of interesting people. Evan: *nods, then catches himself again* I'll bet... Some days I'd rather be mugged down here than have to deal with the snobs up in the plaza.... Maitho: *giggles* Mmm, but it must be nice getting to see all the little shops and things. Even if you can't afford it, it has an air of luxury. Or doesn't it? Evan: Sometimes. *thinks about it* Even if I could afford it, I don't think I'd spend my money that way, really. Maitho: A man of simpler tastes? I like that... but it's still nice to have the option. Don't you think? Evan: *turns a bit red with embarrassment, then internally feels grateful that she can't see it* I guess so... So do you head up that way at all? Maitho: Mmm, I would if I could, but well, you know how it is in this city. Evan: *facepalms, once again making a stupid mistake* Sorry, my bad... Maitho: It's really no problem~ *amused* You must be a User then, right? Evan: Yeah... Guess I should have led in with that, huh? Maitho: It hardly matters around here. If anything, I should've been more up front myself, but it's all right. *He finishes his glass.* We're just here for a drink or two, aren't we? Evan: *nods* Fair enough... *takes a sip, still going pretty slow* So if you've been drinking, and you don't have your cane, are you gonna be alright making it back home? Maitho: It's just been one cocktail, so I should be all right. *smiles* Besides, it's not all that far away even in heels. Evan: *grins, chuckling a tiny bit* Well there goes trying to be a gentleman... Maitho: I never said I wouldn't mind going somewhere else...~ It's just that I can't have, ah, company over. It's that kind of place. Evan: Ah, gotcha...*eyes widen a bit8 Well, do you have a place in mind? Maitho: Mmm, yes, I think I do. *After all, Fortune's working that night... and he already gave Maitho a key to his apartment just in case.* It's quite a bit further, that is if you don't mind? Evan: *starts to get up from the bar stool* I think that can be arranged. Maitho: Hmm? *He really should say something to Evan. Even though he knows that, he's still curious how far this could go. If all else fails, he'll contact Oliver. Price could hardly get mad at him for this, right?* If you're sure. Evan: *shrugs* I'm not going anywhere tonight. Spending some time with a woman sounds like an improvement on my night. Maitho: I'm glad to be of service then. *He giggles as he hops off his stool. He reaches into his purse and lays a twenty down to cover their drinks and a tip. Sure, it's a lot for a tip, but whatever, it's not like he's working for money's sake anyway.* Evan: *pays for his drinks quickly then begins moving toward the door, opening it and holding it for her* After you.... Maitho: Thank you, si- Evan. *He wraps his coat closer around himself as he goes through the door and into the cold again. Then he waits for Evan.* Do you live alone? Evan: *a short, self-deprecating chuckle* Yeah, I've got a small place on the outer edge of the plaza... Maitho: No reason to feel embarrassed. You aren't the only one alone, you know? At least you get to have your space exactly like you want it, and you can spend your time however you like too. Evan: *nods* I guess so... How about you? Have a few roommates? Maitho: I've got my brother... and the other girls, yeah. There's just ten of us, but it feels crowded. I don't really like it. Evan: *hums in acknowledgement and thought for a moment* Yeah, I guess that'd be rough... My little sisters are moving in with me soon, but at least I can tell them to go to bed... Maitho: *ergh**He hides his disgust well.* Little sisters? How old? Evan: Five each; twins... *he tries to move on to a different subject* So is your brother in a similar trade? Maitho: Huh? Oh no... nothing like that. He's just there because I lied and said he was my boyfriend. *He shakes his head with a smile.* Don't ask me why having my boyfriend there is better than my brother, but it works out. I can't imagine being without him. Evan: I understand. Family comes first, after all... Maitho: *It's a bit of a stretch, but he manages to give a kiss on Evan's cheek with the help of his three inch heels. Not much of a help, but it's better than him with no shoes.* Let's forget about them for just tonight, though. It's for us and no one else~ Evan: *blushes and turns to her* Well doesn't seem like a bad start to me... Maitho: I'm glad...~ *He loops his arm with Evan's and begins to gently guide him towards the quieter, residential part of the Slums.* You get flustered so easily, it's rather cute. Evan: *is, as a result, even more flustered* Well the attentions just different I guess... Maitho: Oh? What do you mean? Evan: Just some bad experiences with women recently. No big deal *smiles reassuringly, as if she can see him* Maitho: I'm really sorry to hear that... *He should bail, but a little voice he wasn't planning on asks him if he's really not a woman, at least not somewhere in between. A little voice he shuts down as fast as he can.* Well maybe tonight we can make things better for you... or at the very least, a bit more interesting. Evan: *grins* Well if nothing else, you seem like pretty good company. Maitho: *He turns a little pink at that and turns his face away.* Nice to know... Evan: *raises an eyebrow* You okay there? Maitho: *He turns back to smile up at Evan still blushing just a little.* I'm all right~ Just got to thinking about some things, but it's fine. *pauses* Do you mind telling me what street we come up on next? Evan: *looks up as they walk toward the next crosswalk* We're up by Kingsley... Maitho: Then it's just one more street ahead. I told you it wasn't far~ Evan: Sounds good~ *starting to be a little more confident and moves a tiny bit closer* Maitho: *He leans into him, head resting on his side.* Evan: *gets a bit flustered again, but takes as quiet a deep breath as he can while they walk* *As promised, the small apartment building isn't that far. It's just down to the next street and a couple buildings down.**None of the lights are on, but when they walk through the front door, an automatic light switches on on the second floor. He leads Evan up the stairs and pulls a key from his purse, unlocking the door opposite the stairs.* Maitho: It's my friends' place, but he said I could use it whenever. He's not really here a lot because of work. *The locks clunks open.* Just, uh, be careful where you step. He's a bit of a hoarder. *laughs* Not the gross kind, though, just too many books. Evan: *smiles* I kind of do that too... Just with physics and math books though... Maitho: Really? I never had a mind for math or science, not that I need one. *He opens the door, and indeed, the first thing they run into is a wall of books shoved to the side of the entryway. They're almost all books about various countries, with a few herbology books here and there.**When he runs into the first stack and almost trips over it, he blushes more than before.* ...um, if you could help just a bit, I'd really appreciate it. Sorry. Evan: Sure...no problem! *turns a bit red, placing his hands on her shoulders to guide her through the maze of books while trying to keep a bit of safe distance between the two of them* Maitho: *His footsteps are light and quick even while he's being guided around. He's still more or less leading the way to the room without too much trouble. Thankfully, the bedroom is much less cluttered save for some hanging plants and a few more books on an end table.* ...there, much better. Don't you think? Evan: *nervously chuckles* Yeah, the clutter back there was definitely a bit more than I'm used to... Maitho: Like I said, it's clean. *He takes off his coat and finds the only chair in the room to drape it across.* Make yourself at home. Evan: *unzips and sets aside his coat, as usual feeling a bit more exposed with the thinner shirt beneath showing more light from his arms, but quickly dismissing the feeling* So...uh... it's been quite a while since I've done...this... Maitho: Is that so? I'd say it's a shame... but it's a little more special then. *He's not as shy as he used to be, so he doesn't exactly hesitate to walk up to him and kiss Evan full on.* Evan: *leans into her a bit, placing his hands at her hips and sighing with relaxation once the kiss broke* Guess so... Maitho: *He can't see the other man, but he still blushes when Evan breaks the kiss.* Sorry. Am I going too fast for you? Evan: Nah... like I said, it's just been a while...*kisses her briefly once more* |

Evan: *wakes up a bit later than he'd intended to, but when his eyes dart over to the clock, he lets out a sigh of relief; he has plenty of time to visit his mother and pick up the girls. He nudges Bianca gently and speaks softly* Hey, I'm gonna have to head out soon... Maitho: *He tenses when he's woken up, and he sits up rather quickly.**His hair's a mess, and the slip he wore to bed is bunched up just shy of showing anything.* ...oh, you're still here. *It's not meant as an insult. He was just sure Evan would show himself out, like most of the company he's ever kept.* But you're leaving. Evan: Yeah, but I've got a few minutes *smiles* Not like there's much advantage to moving right now. Warmer here. Maitho: I suppose... *He sighs.* Evan, about yesterday... *This is going to probably hurt, but he doesn't flinch away.* I'm not in the habit of speaking the full truth, but I'm usually not a liar either. Evan: What's up? *he's completely confused now* What do you mean 'liar'? Maitho: Remember when I turned you down last night? Evan: Yeah, couldn't have company or something like that, right? *voice drops after a moment* Maitho: *shakes his head* No, not that, the other bit. In the bathroom. I wasn't on my period or anything like that. It's not something that's exactly possible for me. Evan: *still doesn't quite click* Oh... Sorry if I was pushing you to do something that was going to be dangerous or something... Maitho: *He starts turning red, wondering briefly how dense this guy is. Either that or the blind man's gotten to convincing for his own good.* What I'm trying to say, Evan, is that I'm not Bianca. *He still can't give his true name, not that it was a common name either.* It's Bernard. Evan: *doesn't move at all for a few moments. He can't. His entire body tenses completely, and his breathing stops. His movements thereafter are slow as he tries not to let the trembling take over. He turns to sit at the edge of the bed, taking very short breaths, as quietly as he could. Even his voice is nearly silent* Why would you lie about that? Maitho: Why? *His voice is natural now, not that it was ever masculine anyway.* Because I thought you were sweet, and I can't rememeber the last time I was with anyone like that. Besides... the other me suits me a bit better. *Not that he felt that way, not really, but it worked. It worked a little too well.* Evan: *is still incredibly tense, reminding himself over and over inside that it's not alright to let the emotions go wild.* I can't thank you for the compliment this time... I...I get that...you feel more comfortable or something... but that doesn't...*the words get caught in his throat, and he has to stop. He thought... no, those thoughts weren't for him. Those thoughts were for other people. He should have just gone home. He shouldn't have wasted money on beer while his mother was in the hospital. He should have just...gone home.* Maitho: It's all right if you're mad at me. I was planning on not telling you at all because I doubt we'll meet again... However, that isn't something I could go through with. Like I said, I'm not one to lie. Evan: It's not okay. *he replies quickly, quieting mid-sentence* I've... You know what? *starts to get up* I thought it hurt enough when people told me the truth... Maitho: ...if you say so. *He takes note of every change in Evan's pitch, tone, and so on.* Evan: Whether it makes you feel better or something's great... but you could have gone and found some other person who'd do that stuff if you told the truth. *pauses to take a breath, keeping himself as calm as he can manage* I thought you were fucking great, and I would have still thought so if you'd told me before, and we'd just not done that. *still getting angrier, but controlling it by cathartically burning slightly along his right wrist area* Maitho: And now? *He knows he's not giving Evan much, for better or worse, but he's just waiting. Because there's no way someone wouldn't lash out at him for this. No one but Val anyway, and that turned out to be worse.* Since I didn't tell you until now, what do you think? Evan: I feel like...*burns himself slightly worse to get himself focused again* I feel...fuck...I just feel like a part of me's gone... A part I can't even earn back *looks down* Feels worse than losing my hand... Maitho: It was just a blow job from a man. Believe me, losing your hand will still matter to you in a few years, but you won't even remember my name. Evan: Don't try to make it that simple. Just...don't. *glares at him, knowing that he can't be seen doing so anyway* Maitho: Why not? That's how simple it is. Evan: *balls his fist as though about to attack, then realizes there's no fist, and makes no movement to attack anyway* Not everything's physical when you do something like this. Maitho: No, it isn't. I know that. *He's trying not to make it about him, but it's difficult.* Would you have rathered I didn't say anything? Evan: *turns and tries to punch the wall, stopping himself short with a frustrated growl* I'd rather you at least pretend to care that you lied! Maitho: *blinks* But I do, or I wouldn't have told you. There's a lot that goes on in my mind that doesn't have to do with this or sex at all, but it mattered to me that you found out this way rather than through someone else. Evan: *trying to stop his anger from getting any worse. The smell of human flesh burning intermingles with the smell of old books* Then why was it so important to you to do this that you lied to do it? Maitho: *He can smell the burning, and with a very firm tone, he reminds Evan who the place belongs to.* This isn't my house, Evan. *Then he sighs and gets up from the bed himself, smoothing out the front of the slip.* I wanted something that didn't cost money. Nice company that I could please without it being a part of my job. That's why. Evan: *grits his teeth and cuts off the burning without any more mention of it* It's a big city. You wouldn't even have to lie if you looked. *turns fully toward him* and if my company really mattered and you'd said something, we didn't have to do any of that shit. I know it sucks when someone doesn't want the same thing, and I've had opportunities when I could have gotten what I wanted anyway, but I controlled myself. Maitho: I don't get to choose, though, not usually. *He fumbles around on the end table to find a tie to get his hair out of the way.* I'm not saying what I did was right at all, and I'm sorry now. I can't say I was sorry when it happened, though. Evan: Fine. *snatches his coat off of the chair where he'd left it* I've gotta go. *stops to say something else, but doesn't know how to say it* Maitho: Take care. *He doesn't sound depressed or disappointed, just very plain.* Evan: *can't speak anymore. He's just lost the drive to do so. He walks through the cluttered main room and opens the door, keeping himself going with nothing more than the need to help his mother* Maitho: *When he hears the door open, he smiles, but he doesn't say anything else.* |
